For those asking, the halo at 7.30 is a brocken spectre. Quite often seen in the mountains when the sun is behind and above you, casting your shadow on to clouds below. Often seen as well from an aeroplane just above the clouds.
Never apologize for sharing such a beautiful landscape. For those of us who struggle to walk any great distance, I am always grateful when someone gives me the opportunity to see something I could never see myself, so thank you.
Thanks for bringing us along on your spectacular trek. How marvelous to experience the breathtaking views (and even the heebie-jeebies from the heights and steep drops) from the comfort of my chair. A vertical, midwinter hike like this is something I could never undertake, yet I got a taste of it through your generosity and skill. And the cameo by the girls was delightful. We were all duly impressed, even if they weren’t. Happy New Year, Mr. Cotter, and thanks again.
Wow! Maximum respect, Mr. C! I'm a postal carrier in the U.S., came home feeling like an ice cube, so I didn't think I'd enjoy a winter outing video today. But, oh my goodness... the scenes you captured were so beautiful I was nearly moved to tears!. You're a lucky man to have Olive and Mabel to warm you up! Thank you for sharing, I'm very much obliged.
Thank you for taking us along on your adventure. What beautiful country and amazing views. I see that Olive and Mabel opted to stay home in front of the fire.
Wow, Magnificent scenery. Thank you for bringing us along with you. That looked like quite a hike/climb. I’m glad the girls were home with their squeak toys ❤
So, no fear of heights for you then? 😊 Thanks for the gorgeous wintry views of your solo hike! Olive and Mabel obviously had important matters to tend to at home. I hope 2024 is great for you all.
I'm thankful there are people like you to show the world and its beauty to people like I am. I hole up in my house with warm socks, hot cocoa, and Netflix until spring. I'm also glad to see the pups there at the end. Let's hope you don't do these climbs all alone? Thanks, Andrew.
Was going to post a comment about the less well travelled path, ie not a tourist destination! @@mrandrewcotter, but here seems as appropriate as anywhere! Too much like hard work for your average tourist!
It's almost like a different world up there.I swear I could feel the icy breath of the mountains sitting in my arm chair! Thank you Mr Cotter for bringing an experience that I would never have achieved even 40 years ago.
Stunning views, amazing scenery and just enough Olive and Mabel to make it funny as hell! Glad those two were sleeping on a couch or dog bed in a warm house while you were trekking around in that cold weather. Always fun to get a video from you sir! Thanks.
Thank you Mr. Cotter for sharing your experience. You bring calm to chaos, and a smile when I think of the new fallen snow crunching under foot. I could never attempt - nor barely imagine this trek on my own. You are an extremely kind and generous person. Olive and Mable must be so proud of you! 🐾❤🐾
The beautiful sunrise, the stunning scenery, the crispness of the snow. I could almost taste the sharp freshness of the air. And the addded bonus of appearances from Mabel and Olive. Thank you, thank you. ❤
Gorgeous, glorious and grand but very, very scary for a lady getting up there in years. Good on you for your mini adventures. I'm sure it rejuvenates the soul.
That is God’s country, indeed! Thank you, Mr. Andrew Cotter, for sharing the journey with us. Three minutes in, and I am filled with awe and wonder. Love to you and the girls.
p.s. I give you twelve gold stars for courage and a bunch more for magnanimity, in filming and sharing this. Never, ever, would I have experienced this without you. Yowzers! You are a brave one! Cheers.
Also, the scenery is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this. I've really enjoyed it as I sit in my nice, warm kitchen, with my dogs. We're having tea and conversation about brave and wonderful people who hike in the winter.
Its been a challenging week for me as well. Today, for instance, I had to hold my washine machine in place while it was spinning an uneven load! Whew, exhausting! Seriously, you make that look far too easy. I was getting short of breath just watching (but I am worn out from the whole washer thing) and want to thank you for sharing the incredible views.
I absolutely love hiking, and I love the winter. Thank you for showing us how you enjoy winter in your part of the world. I bet you slept well that night.
What a stunning video of your adventure! Absolutely beautiful ! The wind and crunch of the snow underfoot, show how much you love these mountains. Thank you for these beautiful pictures. Stay warm and give the pups some cuddles from me. ❤
Such beautiful landscape and colors of the sky and snow and stone. Thank you. I'm hoping to visit Great Britain from the east coast of the US next year. Doubt I will see the sunrises from such heights...too old and lazy...thanks for sharing them with me.
Wow! Mr. Cotter, this video brought me to tears. The empty spaciousness is something I will never get to see and I deeply appreciate you sharing this video. What an incredible journey.❤
"Andrew looked through his helmet facepiece, watching the clouds of frozen methane slowly drift across the face of the red drawf star as the planet grew colder and colder...."
Gorgeous views! Great cinematography! Wow, you were up so high, made me weak in the knees! Stay safe out there! Always enjoy seeing cute Olive and Mabel!
Spectacular views. It seemed precarious at one point. I like the crunching snow and sound of wind, the drifting clouds below the peaks. And a Rainbow Ferris wheel, as well.
Nature. Showing off. Thank you for the winter wonder in mountainous terrain. It felt like I was there. In Freezing temp despite outside being warm and humid in suburban Australia. More of these walks in nature Mr Cotter.
Wow! Thank you, Andrew, for taking us on this awe-inspiring trek with you. It is something I am not physically able to do but my heart was just bursting at the beauty of the mountains, sky, and wind whipped whisps of snow. I am thankful you know what you are doing, some parts of those ridges looked (to this amateur) like you could be walking on air, if the snow wasn't there. I am also grateful the pups were warm and cozy at home with their squeaky toys! Love and appreciation to you, Olive, and Mable. Stay warm and safe!
Thank you for the amazing journey that I can take from the comfort of my warm kitchen. I shiver from western South Dakota where we have recently endured temps well below -0F. Grateful you did not take the dogs!
Thank you for allowing us to join you and remind ourselves and appreciate the beauty of this planet, when so many places are struggling through the affects of our changing weather. We are so lucky to be on this earth with such amazing places - and of course gorgeous animals too.
Loved the final ridge shots over the water. So funny..."10 minutes of your life you're not getting back... and could have heard that noise for 9 hours in the mountains"😂🤣
Thanks for sharing this beautiful experience. Although the girls would have wanted to join you, it was the right decision to keep them safe at home this time. Scotland is so beautiful, and your appreciation of Nature is contagious! For a few moments, you transport us to a magical world. Thank you, and hugs and kisses to Olive and Mabel.
That blue and rose coloured sky, the stark mountains and the crunch of feet on frozen snow.... lovely, but all in all, like the two doggos, now I'm older I'm glad I watched afterwards, from home. That wind sounded fierce. But it did look spectacular.
Thank you so very very much for sharing this incredible beauty with us - the air, the views, the whole breathtaking journey. I'm so grateful, Mr. Cotter, and I'm sure Olive and Mabel gave you a great welcome home.
Quite a hike/climb you took there, Mr. Cotter. Some of views were quite scary at those heights; kept thinking "Andrew, please stay way back from those edges with those winds!" Great to see Olive and Mable apparently in fine form safe at home as well; perhaps the route was going to be too much for them.
Surely you gave Olive & Mabel their customary sausage, cheese, and chicken bits. After all their hard work advising on the route planning, then guarding the house all on their own, they’re entitled. Wonderful views all around.
