We love Mexican sunflower in our sunny south side of house for hummingbirds, monarchs and other pollinators. For a trail area near our house, where we’re introducing native plants to combat invasive species, I think Silphium perfoliatum may be a fighter and support wildlife there. Thx for sharing this video; so much to learn!
YES!!! Cup plants are such an incredible, strong native plant that holds its own and feeds so many. We highly recommend this plant if it's native to your area. If not, just find an analogous sunflower. Thank you for what you are doing!
I had several Mexican Sunflowers a couple years ago and the Monarchs loved them. Hurricane IRA wiped out my garden but am putting it back this summer. I am excited to get the traffic back in garden. Thanks

Thank you!! :)
So cool!😊💖🐝🦋
It's hard to believe we will be this green again someday soon! :)
I saw several hummers and two goldfinches- they sure the heck were not EVERYWHERE! I want my 4 minutes and 53 seconds back. Thank you.:)
Too bad! Keep trying! This was a tough year for so many. Keep planting. :)
Ridiculous comment to make, Carolyn.
How nice for you. The Tithonia draw butterflies; and your enjoyment does the rest,
I hope you have this plant in your life too. :)
I don't have Cup Plant, but I do grow Mexican Sunflowers. The Hummingbirds and Monarchs are addicted to them during the Fall migration.
Did you add cup plant yet? Such a gem of a plant!
Beautiful garden. You guys gave me a couple of good ideas.
Great! Happy garden planning and gardening. :)
you are so right! so magical. thank you! :)
Thank you! :) In January, it's hard to imagine this greenery again!
Finches love Rudbeckia laciniata too. It's a tall native
They sure do! We have lots of that plant here and appreciate their beauty and offering of food to so many.
You are right it is magical we do not have to go very far to see magic nature is all around us that is magic
Spot on!! We are so glad you feel it too. :)
What's the tall stately variety of Goldenrod that you are growing?
In this video it looks like Tall Goldenrod (Solidago altissima) and Canada Goldenrod (S. canadensis). Love them all so very much!
Amazing Mexican sunflowers! Which variety of the Tithonia are they?
Good question! In the seed catalog they were listed as Tithonia sp. Hmmmmm.
Have taied to direct sow Tithonia Mexican Sunflower twice with no luck; perhaps I would have better luck with seed bombs.
Keep trying! We've failed on so many things and just keep trying..eventually some say, "Ok, now I am happy!"
@@thecommonmilkweed I keep digging holes, plonking plants in and throwing seeds about.....gardening (like old age) is not for sissies!
Awesome!!! We appreciate your energy so very much!
Hello, umm how did you plant the seeds?
We direct sowed in the Earth. We never have 100% germination, but we usually get some.
