Well, best entertainment on YT! The beauty of the islands you've shown us, the sailing, and then crabbing like no other! Those boys have a certain amount of respect for the pinchers, but it's overridden by curiosity. Gives a whole new meaning to "Don't be a crab!". I hope the boys all realize the fantastic life experiences they've had, but the videos and photos will keep the memories alive. You are great parents! Thanks, Jerry
Thanks so much for the great comment. I do wish we were the best entertainment....! Well we enjoy making the videos and always appreciate others watching them and taking the time to comment. Thankfully we will have all these videos and in the years to come we will drag the boys from their rooms to come and watch them with us again.
I’m catching up leaving comments. I LOVED this episode. My favorite moment is a moment I’ve lived myself many many times - you offer instruction to Nathan and the response is “I KNOW, DAD.” Boys will be boys, and fathers and sons will be fathers and sons.
We have a lot of those moments. I think we try to protect our children too much sometimes when we should just be letting them learn for themselves. The crab hunting was great fun. Our guide made it a great experience with the crabs cooked for lunch the following day. I would love to go back there.
Amazing island! I'm glad that the miners got their fill of it and moved on. Industrial ruins can be pretty fascinating though, particularly those railroads getting swallowed up by the jungle. Tropical jungle, cliffs, and caves-- super terrain to explore. And then those Coconut Crabs, so beautiful and frightening, are surely one of the most amazing animals living on our planet. I couldn't help but think of how vulnerable these creatures would be to overharvesting, so I was glad to hear about the limits placed on the hunting. Hope you'll share a bit of the coming feast. Bad luck for the boat that couldn't anchor!
Hey Frank. The old ruins are interesting and there are still a fair amount which are visible. The result of the mining has left an interesting landscape which we will show you in the next episode. It is a place for adventures and exploring but it is a difficult terrain to cover. The road network is limited and walking in the mined areas can be dangerous. The crabbing was great fun. It was quite stressful watching the boys grab them. They had more courage than me.
Nice adventure! I would of course stay on the boat and spend my evening sipping 2011 Chateau d'Yquem IN TOTAL SILENCE waiting for my crab dinner to arrive.
That must have taken some weather planning. I have seen so many videos of cargo falling off ships or being dropped by cranes. Quite an achievement back in the day.
Hi Mike. We will show a bit of that in the next episode. The legs are tasty but the tail which looks like a bee's tail is full of a grey sludge. I couldn't bring myself to eat this part but this is the best part for the locals.
6:04 You have proper SHOES!?!?!? There's still hope. Funny how many "cruisers" complain about discomfort from wearing shoes after months of barefoot or flip-flops.
Oh yes, Claire has that problem. Not great. It is funny how when you are land based for a period whilst cruising, and arrange to go out for dinner and arrive at the restaurant only to see the boat kids are not wearing any shoes. An awkward moment.
@@SailingMokara Meh. If the patrons live by the seaside and mind barefoot (or shirtless) kids, they can find another place to dine, as far as I'm concerned. I take it you're heading to the southern colonies (or maybe by now have been there for a year). I was absolutely amazed how many kiwi and aussie kids don't wear shoes AT ALL. You see parents pick up kids from school (where shoes are mandatory) and kids just walk out holding their shoes in their hands.
7:39 Like father like son. Father sails up to an island without mooring but wants to moor anyway AND DOES. Son sees a crab that can snap your fingers off and what he does? POKES IT WITH HIS FINGER!!! REPEATEDLY!!! Sighhhhhhhhhh.
He does come out with the funniest things making Claire and I question ourselves. Anyway Nathan advised he has now given up on rum and prefers a 2011 Chateau d'Yquem with some good background noise.
4:53 Worry not WHAT's in there. I'd be more worried about WHO's in there. How are they going to adapt to land life where you can't run around with a machete and ground attack your brother with an as of yet unarmed kite?
@@SailingMokara Your entire net worth fits into your pocket. Everyone thinks they're smarter than you. Do your homework. How can you get so dirty in just 5 minutes!!! No ice-cream before dinner. You'll find out when you grow up. Don't talk with your mouth full. Boobies are birds. This movie is not for children. Time for bed! Drink your rum. NO WAY!!!!!!
4:40 Is there ANY "dangerous fun" your youngest offspring doesn't partake? I can bet any money up to 10 pounds Dylan walked around like any child who wants to live to 16.

Well if you are drinking that, I would stay with you and promise to keep quiet at least until the end of the second bottle.
@@SailingMokara Far be it for me to deprive you of the pleasure of educating your children about marine life.
14:52 NO WAY!!!!!!!! With his bare hands!!!!!!! Dayem!
And still has 10 fingers. (Nearly lost one in Panama though whilst spearfishing)
@@SailingMokara Geezus! How? And why didn't you film it? 😞
7:39 OH MY GOD!!!!!!! That lovely man has tattoos all over his STOMACH! I don't even want to think how painful THAT was.
That is something I am not going to be doing anytime soon. A brave man indeed.
2:40 This was once a locomotive. I wonder how they delivered it.

5:45 I have photographs of street children in AFGHANISTAN dressed JUST like that. 😀 Even the shirt (dis)color matches. What a dickensian waif! 🙂
That is one of their 3 outfits. You don't need much on the boat.
@@SailingMokara I suppose the other 2 belong to Dylan. 🙂

6:35 Why only males have torches? I should show this to Ellen. And Oprah! And Greta will be FURIOUS when she sees how cruelly you step on the grass!
I am not going to fall into the trap and answer that question. I value my life.
@@SailingMokara OPPRESSOR!!!!!!!!!! **indignated smiley I can't find**
15:01 (To be read only by Claire! You three turn away!!) When the boys smile, you can REALLY see the similarity. And it's so sudden!

I was far more cautious than the boys. If the crab can open a coconut, there is a high chance of losing a finger.
5:25 Not a single drop of RUM!!?!??! Oh DO explain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀

We will need to lay down some ground rules for sure. No machetes in town on a Sunday!
@@SailingMokara And leave the axe in the locker for gym class.
1:28 You can HEAR how Nathan quickly says his line and moves away from the microphone to go do something more interesting. 😀 Restless is the word.
Yes, there is always something else to do that is more important than helping mom and dad make the videos. I wish I was his age again. What a life.

9:40 I don't think any crabs can swim, Master Nathan. I've never seen a swimming crab. They can run very fast in very deep waters.
