Bought my Arran bodega for 45 €. Haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the review. I still need to buy glenfarclas 105 cost 60 € for 1L bottle
Wow, thanks for the honesty Erik, seems like you and the Whiskey Novice stand apart on the opinion of this and I'm glad to have that counterpoint to what G Whiskey and other Whiskey Tubers have said. I will still probably pull the trigger on this AND the Glenfarclas 105 in the next month just to have a decent sherry bomb comparison library against my Abundah for myself. However, my expectations (suspicions?) of this Arran seem to be borne out by your review: Arran as a spirit just needs more time to really hit the sweet spot whether in sherry or bourbon!
Hi Erik ! My favorite Arran port and sherry cask . Good review , like. Cheers !

Interesting review. Seems like this expression was made for those looking for a balance between Sherry influence and spirit.
This is a truly superb whisky. One of the best from Arran.

I really like this Arran bottling as well. The sherry doesn't overpower everything else that came before it.
That's disappointing because I really like Arran releases. But I am glad I saw your review so I didn't pick one up. Thanks for the warning!
Great review Erik and nice comparisons with the 105 and Machrie Moor! Yeah the sherry does leave you wanting for more and just lacks that depth. Cheers!
Thanks 👍
Fantastic bottle for a fantastic price. I have a backup, and might need another backup for my backup 🤔 for the price, I don't mind sipping this one regularly, and without guilt 😅

I agree. This Arran The Bodega is an absolutely wonderful expression. Seems like they got the SHERRY just right.
Curious, my bottle of the Glenfarclas 105 is transparent... maybe it's exclusive to the 1 liter bottle?
I didn't love my Glenfarclas 105 right away... same with the 12. But they both just keep getting better. At this point I learned to enjoy my 105 (the 12 I haven't touched in a while but remember I was liking it better the last few times I tried it).
Sometimes I get this dampy vibe from the 105, which reminds me a bit of a moist and musty warehouse (not that I've ever been to one) which I don't love... but yesterday for example I tried it and all I could get was sherry goodness along the expected sweetness you get from the glenfarclas spirit. Good stuff. I'm actually thinking of blending the 105 with other sherried whiskies that lack punch, thinking of trying this with the Tamdhu 12 (lacks punch and sweetness, both of which the 105 has in excess).
Slanthé!
I really like this bottling from Arran and I think it is down to it being American oak, which is much more my jam. French oak sherry -bombs are a hard sell for me, but if you are looking for that in a big sherry whisky, then I can see how this one wouldn't cut it.

The Arran Sherry Bodega.... is one of my favorite whiskeys and I have over 100 bottles of whisky... has to be a bad batch. Arran is a great Distillery. Get another batch and compare please. Lol
Watch my Arran Distillery live-stream in which I compare this bottle with the Arran Harmony Edition which is also sherry cask: ruclips.net/video/PmKaLS3Yu60/видео.html&t
Not a fan of thier younger bottlings except the amarone cask. The 18 and 21 yr especially are the crown jewels of Arran
I just posted my review of the Arran Amarone Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky: ruclips.net/video/HtrmvyhmXrI/видео.html
Macaloney’s Caledonian is a newer distillery in Victoria, BC, Canada. Some great young whisky.
Thanks for the info!
It saddens me to here that score but I feel the same way. On the other hand my 105 is as pale as Arran 10 so that too is a disappointment.
I would compare it to Tamdhu CS or A'bunadh as big NAS sherry bombs.
The price is tempting but I'm holding on to my sherry budget until I see a new Arran 18.
3:04 Like modern Abunadh then.
* question mark.
