"After the race, Oklahoma State coach Dave Smith said that his men’s program had to beat “one of the greatest teams all-time in the NCAA” and then clarified, “not just in cross country, but in all sports” to win this title, the program’s fifth - and fourth in the last 15 years. The Cowboys seemed to know that it would take a historic performance to unseat a Northern Arizona team that had won six of the past seven titles, and they put together the right race to do it."
