Lanikai Pillbox hike is one of my favorites! Nothing better than watching the sunrise over the beautiful ocean. We kayaked to the Mokes afterwards... talk about being tired!! Ugggh! Full body workout for the day between the two, but was TOTALLY worth it!!
Thank you for watching Jenn! We hope you have an AWESOME trip! If you need any extra ideas, we just posted a guide to Oahu last night that is full of more tips! adventuresofaplusk.com/5-days-on-oahu/ 🙌
You guys are so good about being positive! Love it! That hike to the waterfall would have made me crazy! Didn't really look like a path at all while you were walking in the "stream". haha!
Digging Hill pillbox in Kaneohe is great and easy to go too. There is another cool waterfall hike just by the Pali lookout. Next time you can check them out. :)
I so love that about you two, that you follow rules! 👍 It seems like there are so few people that do that anymore ! Cheers for you! Beautful spot, I thought Vancouver Island was covered in green, it looks way more green there 💚💚💚
We are very avid rule followers! Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been afraid of getting in trouble haha. It is crazy green in Hawaii! So lush and rainforesty!
great name for sure! my sister's golden retriever was 'Kona' too... he was such a mellow dog... she had another dog (old english sheepdog) that was named 'Opu' (hawaiian for belly)...
Definitely! That would make it a LOT easier to get parking for the beach! We only split it up so we could go to the waterfall early (to try to avoid crowds) and then be at the beach for sunset.
Hi! Parking is a bit hard because it is a residential area, so plan to get there pretty early to find a spot and of course be super quiet so you don’t wake anyone up (if you go for sunrise). We parked on Aalapapa Drive right in front of Lanikai Park, which is a few minute walk to the trail. There were no “no parking” signs there, but there are signs in other areas so keep an eye out!
Hi Ro! I thinkkkk we started around 6 AM and the sunrise was around 6:50 AM. We had to park a little far (not bad though) and got a slightly later start than we wanted, so we rushed a tiny bit, but we ended up having some time to relax at the top while the sun came up! The hike up is really short, but harder in the dark.
We try our hardest to not get burnt! We always put on sunscreen (although sometimes we aren’t the best at reapplying). I don’t think we got burnt this trip, but when we went to Mexico City we got HORRIBLE sunburns 🥵. And thank you so much!
We are wearing Chacos and got them on Amazon. We normally wear hiking boots hiking, but for easier trails like this one, the Chacos work great! They have really good grip and are extremely sturdy shoes.
I have a question?? What did you do with your bag while swimming? They say don’t leave in the car due to petty theft, and not to leave it on the beach for the same reason. Please help.
Hi Frank! We have gotten this question a few times and it’s a tough one! To be honest, we leave ours on the beach, but I will say, we aren’t much of ocean swimmers, so it’s rare that we are both in the water at the same time for an extended period of time. And if we are both out there, we always try to face the shore so we can keep an eye on things. One thing I do know of that could help is at Waikiki they have lockers you can rent to store your stuff! alohalockershawaii.com I am sorry if that’s not a super helpful answer 😕
Adventures of A plus K that’s what I was thinking too. I want to carry a backpack for water, towels, change of clothes...etc. I’m also going in about a month so I assume that everything is going to be PACKED!! I bought a dry bag but I just wonder if it’s big enough. 😬 thanks for your reply.
Of course! A dry bag is also a great idea to bring your phone or money out into the water with you. We have found that we have always felt super safe (including our belongings) in Hawaii, but of course things can happen anytime anywhere! Sometimes we also hide stuff under our towel in a smaller bag and put something larger on top of the towel to hold it down. Have an amazing time!
Kailua (and Kaneohe - the 'windward' side) is beautiful! many celebrities buy homes in Kailua.... Try golfing at Olomana - a favorite course of Obama! not too expensive, so it's popular with locals... If you drive through Waimanalo, it is a cute town that will eventually lead you to Makapu'u and Hawaii Kai (site of the Koko Head hike you did)... 'Kokonuts' is another shave ice place you might check out (another place Obama likes)....
@@AdventuresofAplusK Waimanalo is a very old town. It'll probably have a lot of traffic (one-way road both ways), but if you can make it there, I recommend going to a road-side 'plate lunch' place called "Keneke's"... it is a favorite place of mine... try the 'shoyu pork'. the 'pork gisantes' is also good (lol. I love pork)... very funky place...
Hey Adam and Kathryn, hello from another Seattle couple ;) We just discovered your channel as we are planning our trip to Oahu. Love your insightful vlog. We would love to connect with y'all in person. Not too sure if we can make it happen since you guys are leaving in a week. We saw your post on IG story (not stalking y'all at all :P). Anyway, just want to drop a few words in your vlog. Check out our channel if you have a chance :) #PNW
Hi! Thank you so much for watching and the sweet compliment! We cannot believe we leave in a week 😱 We wish we had more time here before we left to see more people! We hope y’all have a great trip to Oahu. When do you go?
Lanikai Pillbox hike is one of my favorites! Nothing better than watching the sunrise over the beautiful ocean. We kayaked to the Mokes afterwards... talk about being tired!! Ugggh! Full body workout for the day between the two, but was TOTALLY worth it!!
Such an amazing hike!!! One of our favorites too! 😍
I grew up O'ahu; miss it so much. Thx for bringing me back for a few minutes! I love the windward side - Lanikai & Kailua. Aloha!
We’re so glad we could transport you back for a few minutes! We looove that side of the island and wish we had spent more time there. 😍
When on vacation...INDULGE the yummy treats and don’t feel guilty is what I say! Loved the views on this vlog...watching makes me feel like I’m there!
We like that philosophy! We definitely indulged! Haha
As I like to say when I'm on vacation: Calories is just 'mind over matter' - if you don't mind, it doesn't matter!
Calories definitely don’t count on vacation! 😉
You remind me of Pam Beesley from The Office lol, watched all your Oahu videos and they are super great!
Lol! I have heard that once or twice. We actually dressed up as Jim and Pam one year for Halloween 🤣 And thank you so much!
Thanks for all the tips for the hikes and waterfall trail
I can't decide...so many sunrises to choose from on this trip!
Day 5’s sunrise was pretty sick too! 😍😍😍
you guys are great! true adventurers! I love how positive and open-minded you are.... aloha!
We appreciate that so much! Thank you for watching our videos!
I am going to Oahu in February. Thanks for showing all the wonderful places in your vlogs!

We sure try! We aren't always positive, but we have learned to embrace things not going according to plan as much!

Thanks for the Great Tips; my dog's name is Kona, a 5 month-old samoyed.
Oh my gosh, I bet your Kona is a CUTIE! 😍 It’s such an awesome doggo name!
great name for sure! my sister's golden retriever was 'Kona' too... he was such a mellow dog... she had another dog (old english sheepdog) that was named 'Opu' (hawaiian for belly)...
Love your videos! Do you suggest this for 58 & 60 year old couple 😎🤪😉
Hi Carolyn! Thank you so much! 💗 And absolutely! We saw people of all ages enjoying both of the hikes we did this day! 🙌🏼
Ps would it make sense to do the pull box hike then go down to the beach? It seems like you divided it up
Definitely! That would make it a LOT easier to get parking for the beach! We only split it up so we could go to the waterfall early (to try to avoid crowds) and then be at the beach for sunset.
What are the sandals you have? We are going in a month, but I need good hiking sandals!! Thanks
We have Chacos and we LOVE them! We wore them on all of our hikes and to the beach and they were perfect!
