You kinda missing the point that the only reason Gregory became principal material is because he didnt get the job. The guy who came in during season 1 and tried to phone it in with the temp job as a stepping stone to becoming principal was not emotionally qualified to lead a school full of seasoned teachers. Gregory needed support and inspiration from his fellow teachers and to learn that it is the kids and not his qualifications that matter. If Gregory had become principal at the beginning of the show like he wanted, he would have sucked at it.
I think this is how Gregory Education earned that Educator of the Year award much earlier than he thought he would. Not only did he give it his all as a teacher when he was a substitute teacher in Season 1 and a full-time teacher in Season 2, but he also did an excellent job as an interim principal in Fire. So good in fact, that when he announced a mandatory fire safety seminar for all of the school staff, Barbara missed Ava because she knows Ava would not have taken this school fire incident that seriously.
That victory speech was made even better with the special guest appearance of Jalen Hurts at the beginning of Season 3!😍"You got Jalen Hurts to propose to me?" Sadly, Jalen Hurts could not save Gary and Melissa from getting divorced in the future. Melissa had to save herself from that future divorce because she did not want to repeat the same past mistakes that led to marriage ruining her life once before. December 3, 2024, 3:00am
And please give a hand to this wonderful black man. Me: Why does this sound mildly offensive like that white woman who is Chris's principal in everybody hates Chris.
😄I knew Abbott Elementary's writers did not forget about Ashley Garcia for long! She was Melissa's aide for three episodes, but I knew she was not meant to be a long-term character since Ashley already worked at four schools in four months, and after Halloween (Ashley's previous appearance in Candy Zombies) her actress left the show to act in Laura Chinn's first film Suncoast. Maybe Keyla's acting schedule with that movie prevented her from appearing in any more Season 2 episodes, which is why Melissa was teaching two classes without Ashley again in Read-A-Thon, but she luckily finished her work with that film soon enough to come back to Abbott Elementary for one more episode. I was very, very happy to see Ashley Garcia again for this school award ceremony, but my mom was not.
Gregory proving once again why he should have been principal.
No
