People probably told you on Patreon, but the theory is the light that Jinora brought was Avatar Wan's old teapot. Wan held Raava in it when he carried her, and Iroh pointed out that there is still residue of her spiritual energy that resides in it.
The turtle-lion told Aang while teaching him how to yoink the fire lord's bending, that in the era before the Avatar, they weren't bending the elements but instead the energy within themselves. That may be what Korra was doing, Aang used it to bend the energy in someone else and Korra used it to bend the energy in herself.
Just to clarify how Korra got giant and blue, it was because of the harmonic convergence and the tree of time together! Harmonic convergence greatly amplifies spirit energy
I always thought it was selfless love that awakened Raava. Jinora’s spirit could have easily been killed at that moment, but her coming to try to protect Kora lit Raava up with energy.
@franciscoortega5963 emotions can only be physically manifested in the spirit world, and she was in the physical world. It is a nice thought that her emotions could've helped, but since she established that the butterfly spirit was indeed a light spirit, and you see one vanish along with her, it's safe to assume that she just led the butterfly to where it could shine. And that's what the spirit did: it just began to shine which allowed korra to find raava within vatuu
@@franciscoortega5963 so basically just ignore the things that have been purposefully established in scenes and worldbuilding for 3 episodes now and just come up with your own theory thats not reinforced by the lore or the episodes. fascinating.
I really, really love the OST that starts around 7:28 it’s called “Jinora’s light” and it’s my favorite OST from the Avatar universe (and another one from season 3 of Korra)
Actually there was a supplementary book released about the issue of Korra not having the connection to her past lives. It's called "The Legend of Korra: An Avatar's Chronicle" and I believe this is canon. In the book, Korra wrote a letter to the next Avatar where she apologizes that because of her, Avatars "LOST THE ABILITY" to connect with their past lives. She also wrote an extensive journal recounting all her adventures and learnings throughout her life so the next Avatars can at least have her knowledge in written form. This actually implied that the succeeding Avatars will not have the ability to contact their past lives, NOT EVEN SPIRIT KORRA. They lost the ability to connect with their past lives so the next Avatars will not even contact Korra in the future. It was a heartfelt letter actually. And it feels like a letter to the fans too that there will never be another Avatar Series in the future. But we all know that's not true since the next Avatar series is already in production. We can only wait for the next series to know whether the book is right, or they will retroactively retract this detail and make the new Avatar connect with Korra and Korra alone.
I don't think thats canon? I believe the creators said she is essentially just beginning of a new cycle like Wans cycle, which lasted the prior 10,000.
I understand why most people think this was the weakest season, but I personally think this was better than season 1, for three main reasons: season 1 ended too abruptly (I understand they didn’t have time to do what they wanted, but it doesn’t solve that issue) and left the whole “non-benders are oppressed” thread dangling, the Wan two-parter in this season was awesome, and severing the connection to the past lives was very smart. The old avatar spirits aren’t gone… we know Tenzin was able to communicate with Aang without that connection, for example. But it means it’s no longer an easy “fix” to just get help either via advice and knowledge or to get direct possession when need be as Aang did. Having that device for Deja ex machine is bad in the long run because it either ends up repeated too often or you will wonder why they didn’t use that ability. This lets Korea “grow up” and be more on her own for solving her own problems. (I do believe future avatars would be able to consult her through the link as she could with past avatars though.) Great reaction as always! Looking forward to your upcoming reactions to the rest of the series.
Part of the hate for Book 2 comes from the severing of the ties with the past Avatars but I think it was a very brave decision - it upped the difficulty level for Korra because she could not consult her past lives anymore. It also gave Korra additional pressure being the First Avatar of the New Cycle. As if she wasn't already too hard on herself. 😅
Okay, to explain it in simple words, yes, Korra is the last one of the avatar cycle that we know and at the same time she is the first one of a new cycle, which we already know who is the next avatar, they already confirmed that there will be a new series of this new avatar called Pavi and she will be an earthbender, now, it was already speculated that Korra would be the last avatar due to a short fragment of the avatar Aang series in which a shot of the statues of the past avatars is seen in which you can see the avatar Roku near the center leaving space in the spiral in which the avatars are aligned for two more statues which would be the space for Aang and Korra's statues ending the spiral, and with this chapter that theory would be confirmed and with that it would be start a new cycle of the avatar starting with Korra and continuing with Pavi
So basically what jinora did is just showing Korra where Raava is bc she is so spiritually gifted. She released some light spiritual energy to help Korra find raava inside of vaatu, and raava reacted to that light, not planting raava inside vaatu like how some ppl thought, that wouldn't make any sense. And as we know light can't exist without dark and the other way around, so Korra didn't destroy unavaatu entirely, vaatu went inside raava to be sealed for 10 thousand years. Raava is inside of Korra and vaatu is inside of raava. If the rumors about the new avatar series are true, then that would make sense why there are 2 avatars, the twin sisters, one would have raava and the other would have vaatu bc essentially both of the spirits were inside of Korra.
I don't think this is fully confirmed but it is very much implied that Jinora took the tea cup that Iroh had because it was the one which held Raava that Wan used. Jinora probably used the remaining light inside the teacup to ignite Raava for korra to be found. This is implied with Iroh saying he needs to find a new teacup during season 3. There's no reason for him to need a new one unless the old one was taken.
Something I saw a person comment on in another reaction video that made some sense: If you think about the hall of statues in the temples, there was not really enough room for more Avatars - it was almost as if they had all the Avatars they could fit in a single lineage and needed to restart the Avatar cycle. Now, I don't know if that fits with the whole reincarnation concept, but it can be made to fit in ok. This season does tend to be the least liked one, I think most people like season 3 the most, though personally I like season 4 the most. Oh, that whole bit about bending the energy rather than the elements - that was from Last Airbender - that is what the Lion Turtle told Aang, which is how he took away the Fire Lord's powers.
Roku said to Aang, "The Avatar State is a defense mechanism designed to provide the skills and knowledge of all past Avatars." So my question is : now that Korra has lost the connection, does it mean that her Avatar State is now weaker ?
Yea kinda. It still has the autopilot ability, but it’ll only use knowledge from Korra, so it still enhances her abilities, just not to the magnitude it would’ve been had she still had the cycle. The only thing being nerfed is the avatar state’s fighting abilities, but she’ll still be able to do spiritual stuff like how Aang became the giant fish in the North Pole. The state is now limited to Korra’s fighting style.
@@AZDfox wym now that Raava is at full power? Isn’t Raava always at full power? I don’t think it’s that Raava gained “full power”, it’s probably more so that Korra strengthened her connection to Raava (being the only other avatar to directly interact with her), but part of what made the avatar state so powerful was the knowledge of all other avatar’s combined into one. It’s like fighting 100+ people at once. So essentially, half of what made the avatar state so powerful is gone.
Knowing how the romance is handled in season 3 and 4 it is absolutely hilarious to see y'all's predictions be right and wrong. Also it's refreshing to see someone love season 2 for what it is it's actually made me appreciate it more myself and you know what dammit season 2 is good too even if a lot of people think it's the worst season I like it and yes I love the romance plot season 2 as well even though ones is trash
Korra is the new Wan.... Maybe the next avatar might correct that situation by bringing back the connection like how each successor end up completing the regret the previous avatar had.
Korra basically started her own new Avatar cycle like Wan did which means that in the next generation korra will be the one guiding the future Avatars, when Rava was destroyed the old cycle vanished with her but when korra found light inside Vato that caused Rava to Reborn again that caused Rava and korra to start a new age for human and spirits and new age for the Avatars
Now that I think about this more.Doesn't this mean that avatars after korea will be a little bit weaker because when they enter the avatar state their power is amplified And the state allows them to tap into other avatars knowledge? I think
@viraltoks9768 At the start, knowledge-wise, yeah, it’ll be weaker at first. There is a question of how much stronger, if at all, the Avatar is with how Raava is dominant and powerful at the end.
@@viraltoks9768 not necessarily Because Avatar wan was the first Avatar and yet he was powerful enough to imprison Vato and bring balance, I think the power of the Avatar is dependent on the control of the spiritual and physical energy and it’s different from one to one on How they control and use their abilities like kyoshi I think her name she was so powerful at earth bending
@@viraltoks9768 Not really. The base power boost is the same no matter how many avatars are in the avatar state. In fact the new one might actually be greater since Raava was bigger when combined Korra compared to Wan. The thing that more avatars help with is the combined knowledge. However tbh Korra probably has the some of the most knowledge like being the first metal bending avatar. She'll probs learn a lot more as an adult too and then there won't be too much missing.
@@viraltoks9768the past lives provided knowledge and skills, while Raava provided the power. Korra's Avatar State is way stronger than any Avatar in history, because Raava is now at full power
Imo most ppl make such a big deal of the connection break 1. They don't even talk to the past avatars that often, like how many times did Aang talk to the past Avatars in 61 Episodes or how often did Korra talk to them in these 2 seasons? It's not much And my 2nd point is that only the connection broke, Raava still has the memories of all the Avatars (otherwise she wouldnt know why to fuse with Korra during this), so if Korra wants to know something about the past avatars, she just can ask Raava. Of course its not exactly the same as speaking to the Avatars personally but it still would work since Raava was a part of the Avatars. And 3rd is that i personally think that most ppl make a big deal of it, is because it's Korra. Like if it was Aang, he probably wouldnt get even 50% of the hate she gets for that.
Most of the people that make a huge deal of it don't understand the lore very well, don't pay attention very well, and largely missed the overall themes, points, and messaging the creators were engaging in this season. The season has flaws but yeah I agree people make too much of a big deal of this.
Here's how I understand the battle. Vaatu and Raava are equal in strength since they have been battling each other since the beginning and neither have won. Korra is stronger than Unalaq both as a fighter and in terms of willpower. So, Spirit Korra> Spirit Unalaq. Spirit Unalaq + Vaatu > Spirit Korra. But, Spirit Korra + Raava is stronger than Spirit Unalaq + Vaatu.
12:34 moral of the story - even though the previous avatars are cool and have been keeping things balanced for 10,000 years... screw them, i can do it without them coz im the avatar and you've got to deal with it. its a metaphorical spit in the face of anyone who grew up watching Aang. literally told us 'you had your show, its dead. time for the next generation'
Have they been keeping things balanced? Every Avatar fixes one problem but causes another for the next Avatar. Hell, every problem Korra faces is the result of a past Avatar's actions. Spoilers The Equalists are the result of Aang setting up the city to have a council of representatives from the four nations, which caused non-benders to not be represented. The civil war is the result of the Hundred Year War, which is the fault of Roku. Vaatu is Wan's fault. The Red Lotus is Aang's fault for altering how the White Lotus operated. Kuvira is due in part to Aang taking Earth Kingdom land for Republic City.
@@AZDfox all these issues became a thing in the LofK and the whole reason was to make previous avatars look bad to make korra look better. its what bad writers do when they cant write good characters anymore... they tear down the good characters to lift the bad ones up.
You seem like you have the mental capabilities of a child and are completely devoid of the capability of engaging in this without infusing your own emotions and biases into it instead of trying to view it in a more logical, objective and rational way. Its not a spit in the face, you completely missed the point of BOTH series, there themes, messages, points etc. If you think this show is dead, then go away and leave us in peace.
I dont mind Korra losing the past lives, its not what makes season 2 bad for me. Its just Uunalaq is a bad villain and the way Korra beat him just doesnt make sense lore wise. Positives of the season however include the Wan backstory and the introduction of Varrick.
Fun fact! Zuko and Azula’s agni kai music was insp for this finale!! Love love love! So hype for season 3!! I think y’all will enjoy how the romance wraps up hehehe
Plot Armor at its Finest ... definately the worst season of the season, only saved by the Wan episodes. PS: Aang would've never let Vatu escape nor fuse in the first place, thus no catastrophy
I have to say this was incredibly weak overall. No build up, nothing really seemed earned, and it all felt very rushed. At the end she just plopped into the magic tree and instantly jumped out as a giant spirit to have a quick mediocre kaiju battle before her sister shows up out of nowhere with yet another macguffin and suddenly everything is back to the status quo, and by the way lets just pretend none of that romance stuff ever happened. Hopefully book 3 will be better.
Her sister???? No buildup? Yeah, I know who to not read the posts of going forward. "nd suddenly everything is back to the status quo, and by the way lets just pretend none of that romance stuff ever happened." Nothing went back to the status quo, and you need to grow up and stop behaving like a child having a tantrum. You can't even be bothered to pay attention to the screen so no one is interested in your commentary, especially about Korra's "sister".
While I will always be salty that they got rid of the past avatars, took away the mystery of bending, and made Korra such an absolute brat at the start that she nearly triggers another world war, this season was not bad, not even close the hate it receives. I feel it falls into the classic trap of trying to do too much and each section does not get the attention it needs.

IM HERE FOR BOOK 3
can't wait for season 3 reactions. My fav season.
I cant wait for third seazon. Its the best one
Thanks for calling it the FU and not the AA, Ange, haha.
Imo most ppl make such a big deal of the connection break
1. They don't even talk to the past avatars that often, like how many times did Aang talk to the past Avatars in 61 Episodes or how often did Korra talk to them in these 2 seasons? It's not much
And my 2nd point is that only the connection broke, Raava still has the memories of all the Avatars (otherwise she wouldnt know why to fuse with Korra during this), so if Korra wants to know something about the past avatars, she just can ask Raava.
Tenzin ❤❤❤
Thank the stars it's finally over
Why do you folks gotta be SO weird.
That was a dreadful season
CAN'T WAIT FOR BEST KORRA SEASON WOOOO
Finally we can move on to season 3 lol
Why do you folks gotta be SO weird.
Everyone in the comments cheering for Book 3 😂 (as they should)
Here's how I understand the battle.
Incoming peak
12:34 moral of the story -
even though the previous avatars are cool and have been keeping things balanced for 10,000 years... screw them, i can do it without them coz im the avatar and you've got to deal with it.
its a metaphorical spit in the face of anyone who grew up watching Aang. literally told us 'you had your show, its dead. time for the next generation'
Have they been keeping things balanced? Every Avatar fixes one problem but causes another for the next Avatar. Hell, every problem Korra faces is the result of a past Avatar's actions.
Spoilers
The Equalists are the result of Aang setting up the city to have a council of representatives from the four nations, which caused non-benders to not be represented.
@@rollzmoist5061 my god your media literacy is worse than my 10 year olds.
I hate when ange say eska and denra but its eska and desna🎉😂
LMAO
BASED Unalaq hate
10,000 years of avatar experience, gone. all our favourite avatars, gone. no more wise advice from previous lives... only korra
Now think hard on the messages, themes and point of avatar as a whole as a series and you won't be so upset about it.
I dont mind Korra losing the past lives, its not what makes season 2 bad for me. Its just Uunalaq is a bad villain and the way Korra beat him just doesnt make sense lore wise. Positives of the season however include the Wan backstory and the introduction of Varrick.
do you actually understand the lore?
@suddenimpulse030 yeah, do you?
Oh, they all die - next season starts 10,000 years later .... 🐒🐵🐵🐵
👍👍👍👍
Fun fact! Zuko and Azula’s agni kai music was insp for this finale!! Love love love! So hype for season 3!! I think y’all will enjoy how the romance wraps up hehehe
Yea this whole book was abit of a........hmmmm
They thought ATLA's Book 3 ending was Deux Ex Machina as heck, then they haven't seen this Book with Jinora.
I don't think you understand what deus ex machina means.
I'm gonna be completely honest, i avoided this video for a day and now i skipped straight to the discussion
Mako did nothing wrong. 😑
"nd suddenly everything is back to the status quo, and by the way lets just pretend none of that romance stuff ever happened."
Nothing went back to the status quo, and you need to grow up and stop behaving like a child having a tantrum. You can't even be bothered to pay attention to the screen so no one is interested in your commentary, especially about Korra's "sister".
This season never happened. Season 3 let's go.
This is just childish. Grow up and become a real avatar fan.
finally finished with the worst season
the best season awaits
yay another unnecessary childish comment
While I will always be salty that they got rid of the past avatars, took away the mystery of bending, and made Korra such an absolute brat at the start that she nearly triggers another world war, this season was not bad, not even close the hate it receives. I feel it falls into the classic trap of trying to do too much and each section does not get the attention it needs.
This book is just awful with ok moments.
No one likes Unalaq
These episode are what made this series completely jump the shark. I hate this finale so much lol.
Get ready for mega mech with giant laser canon
Imagine complaining about a show being TOO awesome
@AZDfox giant super lasers don't belong in the Avatar universe. It's dumb.
@AZDfox I mean you don't GENUINELY think this show is awesome do you?
@@He-Man00 I think it's better than AtLA
@@AZDfox That's certainly an opinion lol
