This gentleman is so directly on point it ridiculous. What a treat this video is. The camera angles, the contrasts in color and just mesmerizing. Sandglow rolling through green grass is a thing! I agree 100% that vehicles used to be designed for how they looked and how they made you feel driving them. This is your best one yet. I've loved the old Range Rovers but this prospective makes it necessary to own one someday. Just awesomeness, thank you!
When I'm starting to think in replacing my old cars with a modern one, I watch a Petrolicious video and come right back to my senses... where is the fun in a modern car!
..spot on - he gets it - its not about fuel economy or toys or even reliability - although i ran of these for nearly a decade and it always got me home: its about the way it makes you feel
My father had a 1978 Tuscan Blue in Nigeria, it was locally assembled, that started my dream and admiration that led me to work for Land Rover 1994 - 2014.
what better place to do a classic range rover film than in its ancestral homeland. quintessential British motoring at its finest. and a big thank you to range rover for now restoring/rebuilding these models at the factory again. despite the price tag, its I'm sure worth every penny.
What a film. I love when its late, im sitting in my bed and i just dive into the story. This is the best channel that shows the story, philosophy and emotions that stands behind every car. Im really deep into your stuff. Its really nice to see British countryside, its giving me nice feeling. Very good shots, and that one with drone gave me goosebumps.
An incredible story, I feel the same exact way about my 91RRC. The way you feel when driving the old Rover in the middle of the wilderness, It drives like it's been there before, and its giving you the tour.
Definitely the best car channel on youtube. The stories, the camera work, are worlds ahead of the rest. Here is not about how much horse power, etc a car has, but about the feelings about it. Thanks God theres petrolicious!!
."...owning a classic for 2 reasons" - then names 4...brilliant :-)....you are so right and I love mine. There are well over 1000 reasons to own one. Great inspirational video.
This must be the best explanation I have ever heard about why we would "suffer" owning a Classic, I have had 4 over the years and am just about to purchase a restored 1994 Vogue SE. If you come out your house with a cup of tea just to look at her, you know its a love affair
beautiful presentation and machine. right on point with everything. electronics have taken away the feeling of actually driving and feeling connected to the machine. regulations, safety and the evident lack of today’s taste in design has dulled the pleasure of looking at something that can be beautiful. there is not a modern car today that i am attracted to. let’s not forget Toyota Fj40 Land Rover 88 Land Rover 90 Jeep Willis
This video is awesome, I have a 1997 Land rover discovery with 217,XXX miles and counting I am obsessed with it, still goes on road trips and offroads every other week
I have a 1998 V8 discovery and have owned it for 16 years and just love the thing and its mine till i die. It's been so reliable and it still drives so nice.
My favorite part - 2:24 Mr. Holland leans forward to underscore the statement he's about to make, "I tell you! It's a curious color! I know - Sandglow - Camel Trophy Color!" LOL! What a delightful short segment production! Cheers!
Beautiful. I must commend the chaps at Petrolicious, their videos tend to the human emotions, one can always expect to experience what the person being interviewed feels. The intro and outro music are always carefully hand picked, it all comes together to give a masterpiece each and every time.
Aha! so far the best sound I heard of the good old Range Rover! My Dad had one and I drove a couple of them in the early 80s in real off road terrain besides highway - exactly for what they were designed for... Even though we were teenagers who drove fast (specially when there is no law) the Range Rover had a soothing effect on us, loved the low end torque of the small V8 - occasionally pushed it to 160 kmh on an uphill highway just to explore that limit - mind you, we also had a Wagoneer with a 5.6L -though automatic, great for highways and ok for occasional off road, unlike the FJ40s great off roads but better have good kidneys and back for the real off roads, the Range was the ultimate both world vehicle: deep jungle or modern city. I hear you on the frustration of maintaining them, but that is why we also have a modern car... Thank you for sharing and specially the personal relationship you have with the car!
True. Do we love them in spite of it because of what it makes us feel about ourselves, that reliability and thrift are not that essential to us, and that capability, style, and heritage are? I’ve had two Discovery 1s and I just enjoy seeing it in my carport.
I spent two years thrashing a 78 RR through the deserts of Oman. Serviced it regularly and it was superb. Why did I sell it????? But I have the next best thing, a Discovery 1. A diesel is cheaper these days. I used to moan in Oman that it cost about £10 for a tank of petrol!
Hearing this man talk about his Range with such passion is just like he's making love. Don't own a classic Range Rover, but if I would (which is one of my dreams) I bet I would feel the same about it.
I had one, white with a black vinyl top. It was juicy around town but on a long easy drive wasn't too bad on fuel at all. I liked the starting handle, but it could brake your arm. It had a full length sun roof too and little rust. We had some great times in it. I loved it but it had to go as my wife wanted to learn to drive and I couldn't aford two cars back then. I wish I still had it.
Ive got the same chainsaw, I love cutting up logs, omg its like looking at myself in the mirror, I have the new Defender but I look forward to when its 30 years old !
another great!!! video from you, thanks! My uncle has one RR 1972 model in the much same colour, only done 50000 miles, he bought it in 1975, and still has it:-) cheers from Norway
Well said sir, cars back then had soul and gave you a feeling and were practical, not all jelly mold look alikes with to much to go wrong. Loved the two door Range Rover since riding in one as a kid. Had the pleasure and pain of owning a P38 and L322!!
I seriously can't get over how awesome this channel is. And it pisses me off why you guys don't have millions of views/subs. The cinematography, the atmospheric lighting, everything is such a joy to watch 😍
the defender 90 is my favorite, this may creep up and be crowded on the top spot of favorite land rovers for me. very good show thank you for this series.
my aunt had one like that only 4 door, they called it curry pot, because of the colour, it was a little bit darker, nice car. Great drive. Fun. And so high up.
The ones that had this car.. specifically this model.. knows the feeling of the sound of that machine, and what the man said in the video.. I want one again!!
Brilliant, really enjoyed watching you're video. My Grandad had 2 door Range Rovers in the 70s which he used for his land drainage company. I've had a love for them since I was a boy. Kind regards
I owned a Land Rover. I have never felt so happy driving a car as much as I did with a LR. The maintenance was horrible but I would balance that out with the sheer joy of the vehicle. I am saving now for another older one...
Lovely lovely work. I work in TV and YT is now giving us a serious run for our money, at a fraction of the price. Perhaps because there aren't hundreds of people arguing over what it should be, just passionate people showcasing very personal loves.
Breathtaking film making, music, and inspiring words. Absolute treat. I am a big fan of such boxy cars, I own an XJ Cherokee 1999. Thanks for this beautiful film and story behind it. Cheers mate !

One of the best petrolicious-films until now! Wonderful car, great person, amazing house and nicely filmed!
What a great film guys. I admire the effort put into every shot to create such tasteful video. Also, great narrative from the owner, couldn't ask for more
20 years ago I had a 1978 2 door with overdrive and power steering (it was an option) did a chassis up rebuild and sold it 18 years ago, and it is still on the road.
Dont blame you !! i fully understand ! Range Rover Classic IS ONE HELL OF A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW EVEN BY LAND ROVER !! Disco 4 is the next best thing but i'd jump back to a RR Classic in a Heartbeat. Every model since RR Classic dosent hold a candle !!- they just aint got it !! Range Rover Classic is one of those once in a life time phenomenoms. Many Many thanks to Mr Charles Spencer King !! RIP.
Even in Europe, prices for a good, no rust 2 door Range Rover Classic are rising very quickly. Especially early stuff like the 3 spoke stering wheel, the washable interiour, bonnet mounted mirrors etc.
My Dad had a Range Rover exacly like this one. We lived a few years in a country south of the caspian sea that has not had it's revolution 😌. I still love the car, but wow, how the world has changed....😑
Totally agree with everything he said. Possessed several two doors Rangies; but now I drive a G-Class - just more reliable and capable - and looking forward to enjoy a 30 yo One Ten V8 GS when I can afford it ...
Forgot to mention its precision British engineering is designed to allow the vehicle for amphibious operation and it is in no way damaged by being half submerged in a river. (cookie for whoever gets the reference)
White dress shirt and chain saw. I like this bloke.
with handcuffs no more!
when you do it for the video shoot

Thanks a lot!
Couldn't agree more! Great car and owner.
Tengo una RR clásica de 1978 (con lo retrovisores redondos delanteros). Para mí es superconfiable, voy de pesca en terrenos difíciles desde hace años.
This dude has so much personality! Love these 2-door Rovers.
My God the cinematography is incredible. Your camera work is simply great.
Greatly appreciated, thanks!
@@itxtztz your the cinematographer for petrolicious?
When I'm starting to think in replacing my old cars with a modern one, I watch a Petrolicious video and come right back to my senses... where is the fun in a modern car!
This video is pure England
..spot on - he gets it - its not about fuel economy or toys or even reliability - although i ran of these for nearly a decade and it always got me home: its about the way it makes you feel
I wish to believe that this guy says ''Mahogany'' at least twice a day.
This is the kind of material I am looking for, for a car enthusiast. Good work 👍
My father had a 1978 Tuscan Blue in Nigeria, it was locally assembled, that started my dream and admiration that led me to work for Land Rover 1994 - 2014.
These videos are just a level above the rest of RUclips.

Just employ this guy as the Petrolucious narrator instantly!
narrate for top gear ! :D
Best film in a while. All about the car, nothing else. Will never sell my 77.

"It can be an absolute pain in the neck in terms of reliability, maintenance, etc. _BUT_..."
That pretty much sums up Land Rovers :P

A real 4X4, not a SUV. I always love this car. What a pleasure to discover british landscapes !

That 3.5 litre aluminum block Rover/Buick V8 is the heartbeat of so many wonderful cars!

It was and remains the Gold Standard of the 4x4 world. Even had an exhibit at the Louvre as an example of contemporary art.
The intro shot when he's driving into the field....YES! Nice.
Simply sensational.
what a guy, cutting wood in a dress shirt
It's an just the thing to do. Watch the "Still Game" and other European sitcoms, it helps bridge the life style gap
I love the way he calls the old cars to be sexy!i do agree that the old Range Rover is sexier than the new model
One of my favs from Petrolicious! my dad owns his RR classic since 1989! Lovely Cars
All Petrolicious videos are great. This one exceptionally so...
I think the combo of 2 door and color is stunning!!
Cinematography excellence. That drone shot through the trees blew my mind.
my aunt had one like that only 4 door, they called it curry pot, because of the colour, it was a little bit darker, nice car. Great drive. Fun. And so high up.

Fantastic, my absolute favourite vehicle of all time. Nothing drives like a Range Rover Mk1-perfection
one thing for certain this man was born to drive this car, they are perfect together.😉
I owned a Land Rover. I have never felt so happy driving a car as much as I did with a LR. The maintenance was horrible but I would balance that out with the sheer joy of the vehicle. I am saving now for another older one...

One of these got me addicted to Range Rovers. Now on my sixth and seventh (at the same time!)
This is the best imagery and story what i see ever about classic RR. Thank you!
Absolute pure and strong British car for sure its equiped with LPG system.
Excellent! My favorite part about petrolicious is they just don't stick to Exotics/sport cars with their videos.
Funny how every English car mechanic shops master mechanic I've ever met has a Rover Classic like this one.
My one was 7/1981 4door from Autohaus Neuser Nürnberg. 20years on track with! Much stories about this curios car.
Beautiful car with the Citroen SM, my all time favourite.
I did not want this video to end. Great stuff.
20 years ago I had a 1978 2 door with overdrive and power steering (it was an option) did a chassis up rebuild and sold it 18 years ago, and it is still on the road.
Dude had a cool library, nice house too.
When I win the lottery I'm gonna get one of these. I've always liked the old range rovers.
Great video! The Range Rover is an amazing car, everytime I drive my 1986 4 doors I don't regreat any modern car!
RIP.
I love the classic 2dr Range Rover, I especially liked the dark green one Patrick Macnee drove on the show The New Avengers 76!
John Holland said some really familiar points in this video. I do love the older cars which just feel great to drive.
Best video in a while
Thank you!
David Zu Elfe np
Damn it. Why do I feel a compulsive urge to buy every car you ever shoot? I mean, you could make a video on a Pontiac Aztec and I would want one.
what I really like is those round headlights.
I'm not a huge fan of yellow on automobiles but there is something very special about a camel trophy yellow Rover.
Beautifully presented! I love old classic Range Rovers.
Great video and spot on regarding how we are attracted to classic cars and how they make you feel compared to todays new cars. Thanks for this.
that man must be my brother in soul 'cause I have the exact same vision about cars. I'm gonna be him when I'm gonna reach his age!
Lusciously filmed.
Love that he uses his Landy to haul his chainsaw out onto his property to cut some firewood.
This is my favorite YT channel....period.
love the analogy with a candy store!
An excellent motor car, an excellent presenter and an excellent video. Thank you.
Please stop advertising the car I need to buy as a graduation gift, prices are rising quickly!
It's because it's British, made of aluminum; won't rust and won't run.
a two doors RR is still pretty cheap in Europe, available in V8 gas or 4 cyl turbo diesel, your pick
Even in Europe, prices for a good, no rust 2 door Range Rover Classic are rising very quickly. Especially early stuff like the 3 spoke stering wheel, the washable interiour, bonnet mounted mirrors etc.
I have noticed, our 1974 is getting up there but an early 80's can be picked for around 4500.00 Euros a sorted one (LHD continental Europe)
very cheap here in Australia 750pound for a used one
brilliant, and great camera work. loved the drone shot at 1:48.
Thanks!
Amazing shot David!
David Zu Elfe was the slight tilt on purpose?
agree - beautifully shot, and it was the drone shot that had me take notice and pay attention to the other shots.
That's why I appreciate this channel.
❤Magnificent Works❤ :)
My Dad had a Range Rover exacly like this one. We lived a few years in a country south of the caspian sea that has not had it's revolution 😌. I still love the car, but wow, how the world has changed....😑
Love it! I used to own a 1976 LHD Range Rover in that exact same color.
The Photography in this episode is especially good. Really really beautiful shot after beautiful shot. So enjoyable to watch. Congrats on to the DP!
Thank you!
For all the money my RRC consumes its videos like this that remind you why its all worth it
Lovely looking Range Rover. I've always liked this generation Range Rover. I'd give anything to buy one this early. :)
Totally agree with everything he said. Possessed several two doors Rangies; but now I drive a G-Class - just more reliable and capable - and looking forward to enjoy a 30 yo One Ten V8 GS when I can afford it ...
What a great video. He speaks to all of us.
Forgot to mention its precision British engineering is designed to allow the vehicle for amphibious operation and it is in no way damaged by being half submerged in a river.
(cookie for whoever gets the reference)
This was a breathtaking piece
what a lovely car. Great film as always.
I miss this Era of Petrolicious.
another great video by petrolicious, this guy is so passionate and i love it. Awesome.
Petrolicious killed it again! 👌👏
i have had this car the same color ...fantastic !
Thanks for sharing this video
Woah!! He spoke out my soul.
Have always loved the early RR.
