@@jerseydevs2000 It was not the best PK from a vet like Guardado but to perform in that situation after coming on as a sub, to make that save actually blew my mind. And Ochoa I would argue was the best player on the field that match.

In the early 2000's, it was a challenge just to find places to watch games or TV channels to put games on. Now, it overtakes everything. Not sure if anybody’s answered your questions, but Ochoa plays for Club América in Liga MX and started his career there at 18 debuting for their senior side in 2004. Went to France in 2011, Spain in 2014, and Belgium in 2017 before coming back to Mexico City in 2019 to play back with his boyhood club Club América. Has been Mexico’s #1 keeper pretty much since the start, he’s been unreal and a pain to have on the other side as a US fan
The best comparison I've heard between these two teams is that the USA have the better individuals, but Mexico has the better TEAM. They know each other, they play really well together. Though I'm sure it helps having a great coach too. The US coach thinks he's the American Guardiola, but really has the tactical mind of a P.E. teacher.
Yeah based on what I saw i fully agree with that. It just seemed the Mexican players had way better chemistry, the patterns of their play seemed more rehearsed
This game was awesome to watch... it's been hard for me to watch a full soccer/football game, but this one had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. So much drama and action all the way through haha.
I’ll never forget going to a USA U16 goalkeeper training camp some years ago. One of the coaches started calling me Ochoa and to this day it’s one of coolest compliments I’ve gotten. He’s one of the most underrated keepers in the world in my opinion.
An interesting note on this game that isn't shown in the video - the second half of extra time had 11 minutes of stoppage time added on to the 15-minute period. It's pretty rare to get 11 minutes of stoppage after a 45-minute half but 11 minutes added on to a 15 minute ET session is just insane.
This wasn’t even all the highlights! Players fighting, MEX coach getting a red card during VAR review, fans throwing things on the field (Reyna needing care because he was hit in the head), pitch invader, CBS pundits desk also having an invader, back up keeper (Horvath) having the game of his life, Pulisic’s goal celebration in front of the MEX fans (finger to lips, shushing them) 😂 This was a great, crazy game!
Yeah I watched the entire game after filming this vid, the fans throwing the beers was a crazy moment! One of the Mexican players really got clobbered by one 😂

Great reaction! Game was other worldly! However I’ve seen multiple people react to this video in particular & I have to say it’s one of the worst ones, it’s just chopped up so badly, and it’s missing all the stuff like the fans throwing stuff on the field & at the USA players, the pitch invaders, Steffen our Goalkeeper getting hurt and having to be substituted for our backup Horvath who’s barely played at all this year(and he’s from the Denver area as well, where the game was played), etc Edit: The Game being stopped because the Mexico fans were using Homophobic chants that FIFA has warned them about! Mexico’s coach getting sent off for touching the ref & then REFUSING to leave the pitch!

8:00 they def. have. A combination of our team being so young and the pandemic, these guys really haven't played together very much. Prior to the semi-final and final last weekend, the US' last competitive match was in 2019. Three friendlies in 2020, four friendlies in 2021 was all that was played.
As a Mexican national team fan, I was disappointed, even if this wasn’t a major title per se. As an American, this is great for our region, the USMNT will continue to get better and stronger through our rivalry. Both countries have lots of young talent in Europe at the moment so it’s only up from here. On a side note it is a shame though that the USMNT didn’t qualify for the Olympics.
Almiron played in the States for the 2018 champion Atlanta United, but is Paraguayan. Really popular player around here. His speed with the ball was fun to watch.
Pulisic and McKennie are both the captains of team USA for the moment but it’s looking like many want McKennie to be the main guy as Captain of team USA
@@kabirconsiders I agree with this. I also think Pulisic already has enough pressure on him and McKennie is more of the style of player that I see as a captain...just a central midfielder that is all over the pitch...making tackles, winning balls, creative passes to get the attack going...he's just such a do it all type of player.
I was actually about to DM you to complain about the Mexico fans but forgot lol! Whole game was chippy af, don't know why that wasn't shown in this highlight video but it's on the CBS version. I do know their backline is great with Alexander Arnold and Joe Gomez. I don't really know anything about the EPL anymore. Other than Man City still has money, and Chelsea won the Champions league without a striker. I'm a Dortmund fan(Bundesliga), cause that's where Gio Reyna plays, the rest of the team is stacked too it's insane. And obviously i'm a Rangers Fan(Scottish Prem) because Stevie G. Kabir - the Mexico keeper is Guillermo "Memo" Ochoa. He's currently playing for Club America in Mexico City, and was with Standard de Liege in Belgium before that. Perhaps his most famous club was Malaga in La Liga. Because he's never played for a world-famous club year in and year out, it's easy to miss just how good he is. He made four huge saves in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup against Brazil, including a really amazing one on Neymar, earning them a nil-nil draw in that match.

Compare to Mexico that has very good players like Tecatito corona, el chucky, Lainez, etc...The Nations League was invented so the Americans could win something since the Gold Cup is the Concacaf real CUP event and Mexico wins most of the time. Anybody else thinking 'Just wait for it...' when he said that the Ochoa save in the 70th was the best all year lol

The save from Ochoa was probably one of the best this year... during the run of play. But no doubt Horvath had ice in his veins facing down a veteran penalty taker like Guardado.

Well deserved!
My heart was pounding during both pens. I lost it when Horvath saved it. This was the most excited I have been watching a US game in quite some time. The past few years have been really dreadful especially after we missed the last World Cup.

@@kabirconsiders I've been a hardcore soccer fan since the 2002 World Cup. The growth the sport has seen over the last 15 years has been absolutely incredible. In the early 2000's, it was a challenge just to find places to watch games or TV channels to put games on. Now, it overtakes everything. The 2016 Euro Cup had matches with higher TV ratings than the 2016 NBA Finals that were occurring on the same day(despite the NBA having the advantage of playing in prime time).

Went to France in 2011, Spain in 2014, and Belgium in 2017 before coming back to Mexico City in 2019 to play back with his boyhood club Club América.
Helps that most of the mexican national team either plays or has played in the same league throughout their whole careers.
I loved reliving this game through your vid. Thanks for doing this!

He’s massively underrated. The man is 35 and the saves he pulled off in this game were incredible
That’s a good point, probably in response to the amount of incidents that took place!
I really enjoyed your genuine enthusiastic reaction.

Great reaction! Game was other worldly! However I’ve seen multiple people react to this video in particular & I have to say it’s one of the worst ones, it’s just chopped up so badly, and it’s missing all the stuff like the fans throwing stuff on the field & at the USA players, the pitch invaders, Steffen our Goalkeeper getting hurt and having to be substituted for our backup Horvath who’s barely played at all this year(and he’s from the Denver area as well, where the game was played), etc
Edit: The Game being stopped because the Mexico fans were using Homophobic chants that FIFA has warned them about! Mexico’s coach getting sent off for touching the ref & then REFUSING to leave the pitch!
