- In this video I put together the AmeriBrade Fastback 2X72 Belt Grinder. I give my perspective on the assembly process and comment on items not covered in the AmeriBrade Assembly video linked below. It is a good video, but as with most things in life, it’s the details that matter.

Dude thank you. Just got my unit and cannot believe that it doesn't come with instructions. Anyways tried to build this over the weekend, and came close and you have filled in a couple of key pieces on the swivel. THANKS AGAIN.
So glad I was able to help! I need to put out a review on this beast. I have been using it on and off now for the past 6 months and it has been great. Still getting used to the small wheels, but that is largely due to me being lazy about changing the tool arms. Working on a set of knives now for a friend that require a bit more detail, so the small wheels are getting some exercise. I hope you enjoy your grinder as much as I do!
Do NOT put your wheel on like he did it’s backwards
@@courtneylong5084 compare my assembly to the pics on the AmeriBrade site and it looks correct. I’ve been using my set up for 8 months just fine.
@@Bagua101 according to the paper that came with ours it is in fact backward. We literally got a whole sheet of paper explaining that the way you put it on is incorrect
That’s odd. Going through the AmeriBrade site, it looks like my setup. I wonder if they have changed something?? My setup came with ZERO instructions or tip sheets, so hard to say what is going on here. I can reach out to AmeriBrade and see what they say. Thanks for watching. I need to post an update…
This Dude is really good! Very clear on his instructions. I think I could put this together with the help of this video. If not I'm contacting him! I just want to know how he figured out where the pieces that had no instructions went. Sharp guy! Great presentation.
I bought a Beaumont KMG variable speed 2 hp. Best grinder ever! Pricey? Yes. Worth every penny? Yes, and then some! Not diggin the stand and the studs are studs...not nuts. Informative vid.
I looked at the KMG as well. In the end this was a better fit for my needs at the time. So far, no complaints. Honestly I have just started to use the small wheels, but glad I bought the package that I did. The stand is pretty great and does a good job keeping all of the attachments close together. The only downside is that they are constantly covered in some kind of dust (metal or wood). Not a big deal as I just open the garage and use my blower to remove it.
Very Helpful, thanks.
thanks for sharing the video. tremendous help.
Glad you found it usefull!
SUCH A EXCELLENT VIDEO
Thanks for the feedback!
@@theshopshack3696 lol i was being sarcastic.
Looks like it would have been easier to assemble the pedestal upside down, then flipped it right side up..and yes printed instructions with clear pictures are equally important as a video as often times the videos leave a lot to be desired..appreciate your video documenting some of the shortcomings..Thanks..
I’m willing to take on some special projects for those interested. Maybe a restoration or blade conditioning… I’m pretty confidant I can remediate just about any blade at this point. Thoughts? Message me with your ideas!!!
Huge help with this video!
Great to hear!
If you go on Ameribrades RUclips page they have a step by step video on the full assembly. Why print instructions when there’s a video showing you.
The video on the Ameribraid site is pretty good, but there are steps left out. My hardware kit was not the same either and there is not a bill of material detail to indicate which bolts are for specific parts of the assembly. I used the Ameribraid video putting this together, and you do need to pay close attention/watch several times or you will miss some details.
Not sure why you spend 13 minutes on the pedestal / base and 37 seconds on all the attachments... but thanks! Great product once you figure it out.
John, thanks for watching. This was not intended to be a review of the grinder and its attachments. The base assembly needed additional detail as I found the Ameribraid video lacking. I’ve been using the Fastback for a few months on and off now and I really love it. I’ll post a comprehensive review in the next month or two. I need to spend more time with the small wheels and the 90 degree tilted position before providing a real review.
Ameribrade should pay you for this.
Glad to hear it was useful for you! Getting paid to make RUclips videos would be awesome, but not really my motivation. if someone finds this useful, that is gratitude enough for me.
Stay tuned! I’m working on a knife set video as a special project for a friend... materials have been an issue, so it’s taking longer than expected. Hopefully I’ll have it up in the next couple of weeks.

if the music was just a little louder I wouldn't have to here you talk
How’s this grinder working for you so far? Thanks
Don, It has been great. I have not had any trouble with it and have been happy with the accessories. Maybe I should post a 6 month review video...
@@theshopshack3696 that would be great. Thanks
Your wheel is on backwards
Per AmeriBrade: “Yours is installed as intended for most setups, but we send a special page of instructions to put the drive wheel on the other way for one special scenario. If someone gets a 2HP setup with a horizontal mount and no pedestal stand, they have to put the drive wheel on the other way to make their motor clear a benchtop when tilted due to the length of that motor. That is so specific, that we decided not to include that information in the general instructions. We felt it would cause confusion. I could see why that viewer would be sure they're right based on what they received and I could see why you would also be pretty sure based on our other instructional videos.”
Maybe turn off the music if you’re going to talk without a mic, I have no idea what you’re saying 😂 thanks for the video tho……………..
