      Your comment shows your lack of education and ignorance. The prophet had 1 whife for much of his adult like until she died then married divorces converts and widows. The quran say marry up to 4 but if u cant do justice and man cannot then marry only 1. There was no welfare system in that time. Get some education.

It calculates out to a marriage every 2 weeks. No marital love was in such marriages as they were political and no children from these women are listed either except for Rehoboam who was born 1 year before Solomon became king.

    Concerning a Godly king:
    "When you come to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and possess it and dwell in it, and say, ‘I will set a king over me like all the nations that are around me,’ 15 you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. 16 But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall not return that way again'. 17 Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself.
    18 “Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites. 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes, 20 that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel". ~ Deuteronomy 17
    So, no amassing of horses, no multiplying of wives, and no excessive accumulating of silver and gold.
    These commands were designed to prevent the king from trusting in military might, following foreign God's, and relying on wealth instead of on God. In modern times, a President, Premier, or Prime Minister, seeking to be a Godly leader is faced with abiding by this instruction.

    We guided ˹young˺ Solomon to a fairer settlement, and granted each of them wisdom and knowledge. We subjected the mountains as well as the birds to hymn ˹Our praises˺ along with David. It is We Who did ˹it all˺.
    And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful?

    The Rabbi has forgotten the Tenach verses that say his wives took him away from worship of Elohim. He started out well, but he was not 12 years old, otherwise there would be a regent appointed for him until he came to be about 20. He must have been 20 because the Tenach says he died after 40 years as king and his son Rehoboam was 41 years old when he became king. So Rehoboam was born 1 year before Solomon was king.

    Intersting that the passage about too many wives for a king is right after the issue of not returning to Egypt. And the miscalculation was in taking an Egyptian wife who was set in her idolatrous ways.

  • @Markbeb3
    @Markbeb3 6 лет назад +9

    Solomon was Sinning Plain Simple. God never told Solomon to have many wives. He was given over to his lust. He was given over to his sins and did not repent until his later days of his life and then written the letter Ecclesiastes. God never told David not have many wife. God say it plainly one wife only. Both David and Solomon were sinning.

    Funny explanation. Simple answer is due to temptation nothing to do with keeping peace with neighbouring kings. Assuming one wife represents one neighbouring king... so 1000 wives means there were 1000 neighbouring kings around Israel at tat time. This does not sound realistic for an area smaller than China or India. Suppose that he had a great wisdom, was there no other way to keep peace.... if this is the case, then the wisdom tgat King Solomon had was not that great, as claimed in yhe bible. Tge truth is this, no matter how wise a man or woman is, if he or she is unable to control his or her basic instincts, then the wisdom will be quite meaningless. In the case of King Solomon, although he was very wise, the wisdom cannot control his basic instincts. He should ask one more thing other than wisdom, that should be tge ability to resist temptation.

      It was common practise of Near East to have so many women as you could. In fact Solomon was obliged to have so big "garem" because he was prominent ruler in region. It is clear that 300 and 700 are symbolic numbers. Rabbie's had forbidden poligamy only during middle ages. In written Torah by itself polygamy wasn't forbidden.

    Deut. 17:17 says, "Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold." If Rabbi agrees with this English translation, this verse means that even a king should not have more than one wife. This verse also implies that a king should not use his own power to gain too much wealth. If a king has already had one wife, even having the second wife means that he has multiplied his wife. If he has many wives, he has multiplied greatly his wife. Both cases are not allowed by God. But a king is allowed to multiply silver and gold, but is not allowed to multiply greatly silver and gold. This is the justice law of God. If Solomon would multiply greatly his wife for the purpose of the peace, as Rabbi suggested, his wisdom is not from God but from his own. In this way, he did evil against God even if he would be a great prophet and had written great scriptures. If Solomon would not have repented of his sins in his late life, he would not be saved.

    Absolutely I don't share your point of view, that man didn’t trust in the Lord IF that was the reason(s). Obviously, he had no morals. He wasn’t doing what the Lord Almighty Told him to do. He was preaching something and living in immorality.

    Besides that, how many countries were surrounding Israel in those days? No more than four. I am not saying this to criticize him. I am saying this to make sense of his behavior and immorality. The Lord Always has been able to protect and provide for Israel, he didn’t need foreign women or many wives to empower himself!
    The only things we can to are: Obey and Respect The Lord. Nothing else, No one can tell he/she loves God if such a person doesn’t obey nor respect Him.
