    Having extra wide feet it brought me to the True SVH. They fit amazingly and I can skate for hours with no pain. Not being a very experienced skater it did take a bit to get used to the forward bend of the boot and I won't lie, I almost gave up on them but absolutely zero regrets. I love them!

    I held out on True for so long. Once I finally gave in and got them my only regret was that i didn't do it earlier. They fit and feel like no other skate, period. Now that I am used to the way they fit and feel I dont think I can ever go back to something else. Because of the way they fit you can push them harder and feel more confident. I am on the ice 15-20 hours a week every week as it is how I earn a living. I have tried all brands and pretty much all models and I can honestly say nothing compares to TRUE. Best skates out there hands down. I know a handful of guys thay have switched to True amd they ALL say the same thing.

      Are True skates the kind you can play 2 games in a row with & your feet won't be a sore as they are in a traditional boot from Bauer or CCM?

      Hands down the best skate I've ever used in my entire life. I couldn't imagine not having them. It's like a sock. I can have them on for hours. Lifetime of foot and back pain is gone. They're just unreal, and the craftsmanship is silly. I'm sure I'll get 10-15 years out of them. The only way i will knock the SVH's compared to the cat pro's and any other skate, is the aggressive foot wrap. After a while its a lot easier, but at first it's nuts.

      Trues are fantastic, best fitting skate by a long shot. As for comfort they are 2nd to none. Spend 30+ hours a week on them. Only thing I would recommend is switching the holder and steel to something non true. Even trues dlc steel and shift max holders kind of suck. I personally went to tuuk and pulse ti.

    I bought a USED pair of true custom pro’s and they seem wide as hell in the toe/mid foot but it almost doesn’t matter. They’re the most comfortable skate I’ve ever worn.
    They look clunky when I see them on my feet but feel like a dream.

    I would have to disagree about switching brands when it comes to custom skates. I wore ccm my entire life and once I tried custom true skates it was like I have been wearing my custom pair for years. They were buttery and there was 0 break-in period. Due to the construction of the True sate it feels like a skate that you have had for so long. I also love the mono chromatic color of the true skates. such a sweet looking boot

    Just got the SVH. Best skate I have ever owned. Zero break in period. Zero. I guess my feet were wider than I thought. The SVH is way wider and flater than my old boots and fits me like a glove. Since it fits me perfect I can use all the muscles in my foot to skate. So now I'm using micro adjustments in my foot to skate while before my old skate felt like a ski boot. Do not hesitate to buy.

  • @davidwillsie
    @davidwillsie Год назад +5

    Something I rarely see addressed on skate reviews is the question of dorsiflexion stiffness or how much the skate will flex to allow you to achieve flex forward at the ankle which then enables a deep knee bend. Lateral stiffness is great for edge control and durability but even more important is being able to achieve a relatively unrestricted deep knee bend, for me at least. Could you comment on that with these two skates?

    • @HYP3DSNIP3R
      @HYP3DSNIP3R Год назад

      I think you can order the skates to be a lower cut if needed. Or skip an eyelet or two, or flare out the top eyelets and tie them a bit looser there.

    • @davidwillsie
      @davidwillsie Год назад +1

      @@HYP3DSNIP3R Valid comments, thanks. After monkeying around a bit, I think I’ve come up a really good solution. In my 80Ks, I skip the top eyelet. This led to lace bite issues - I ordered bunga pads from the folks in Colorado - the 4” gel pad- it covers my instep and keeps the eyelets from rubbing my outsized ankle. Wax laces so tightness stays where I want it, and the result has been the best fitting skates I’ve had for years. Lateral stiffness, no limitation on forward flex, and best of all, no pain. I’d love to be able to just step into any old pair of skates, but my feet are weird.

      Curious on how you were able to tell you needed new rivets. I was hearing creaking noises the other day and ignored it a few weeks and then thought of it to check my holders and it seems they are the source of that creakyness when I was trying to twist or torque the holders on my boots. Did you have similar experience? Or did you just lose the rivets?

      @@Mike_Jones68 I noticed a "wobble" in my skate occasionally when I wasn't weighting it but other than that they skated fine. I didn't have the sense to look at the rivets for awhile. Also one game I all of a sudden had lace bite. Added a lace bite pad for a game or two then finally noticed the rivet that mounts the tendon guard on the rear of the boot was missing. Then looked at all the other rivets and took them in for repair. There was space between some of the rivet heads and the blade carriers. They replaced a few more than I thought I needed.

      They moved to Stainless Steel Rivets about 2 years ago. This will make a difference since up until that point the rivets used were essentially the same as everyone else. The difference being that the TRUE design has significantly better energy transfer which puts more strain on a rivet. A good practice is to also remove your footbeds once done skating to help air out their skates. Since going to Stainless Steel Rivets they have cut down significantly on rivets rusting and pulling out.

    I was at Pure Hockey today and am getting ready to order the SVH customs. One thing they mentioned is that you can order them without the holders and then Pure can install a different holder for you. I’ll probably go with the TUUKs and the Pulse Ti runners. Nice to know they have the flexibility to do that.

      I would only go for TUUKs if your main concern is availability for steel, I feel like the new Bauer steel like a 7/10 at best. Having had skates from CCM, True, and Bauer, True has the best stock steel, though it comes with a 9/10 dual radii profile. If you want to have the highest quality steel I would recommend CCM holders for STEP steel

    Something I’d like to learn as I’m considering the SVH’s is the shape and fit of the toecap. I have had issues with all my previous skates (FT2s, Vapor X60s and current 2X Pros that the toe caps are not anatomical and there is a slight taper so that my big toe gets crushed and sore. I’m hoping that True skates can help avoid this. It is not a skate length issue as the next size up is too big it is just the shape of the skate toe cap vs the actual shape of my forefoot. I’d like to learn if you find the true toe cap to be wider (more anatomical) than other brands? Thanks!

    Hi, to get the True pair, how did you get your feet measured and ordered? From their app or went to a store? I have both options available in my area and I am not sure if in-store scan would be more accurate. I have extreme wide feet and need customs to reduce pain, so accurate fitting is the only important part to me.

  • @Randelius

    I just got fitted for True customs yesterday after struggling with a navicular bone on my instep that has been hell for me(combo of wide feet + the bone makes it so that my body weight gets shifted to the underside of the bone when it touches the wall of the skate-- sadistic). Believe me-- I've punched the skates a billion times and tried everything. (The closest I've come to experiencing a normal skate is putting a pad ABOVE the bone-- not below, not a donut. For some reason that worked.) However, I'm sick of jerry rigging my skates every single time just to feel normal for a couple hours. I am hopeful that the customs do it bc the only option left is to fix the foot itself.

  • @liamzanna
    @liamzanna Год назад +5

    So the problem I’ve noticed withe the True rivets isn’t even the fact that they break because they’re rusted. The problem is that due to the fact that the bottom of the True boot is so thin, they have to use really short rivets (between 4 and 6mm shorter than most other skates) and obviously the shorter the rivet the weaker it will be. Also keep in mind that every time you replace the rivets they will hold less and less because you stretch out the hole. So mi tip would be, if you’re hoping for a long term investment get the CCM’s, if you replace every season anyways the True’s are fine.

    • @Chanmantroop10
      @Chanmantroop10 Год назад +1

      Just bc of the rivets? I don't agree. CCM boots don't hold up as well to wear and tear compared to the svh. The catalyst pros and retail cats, those aren't as durable as the svh. In terms of rivets, you need to remove ur insoles. And u need a competent skate tech to rivet ur skates properly by flattening the prongs of the rivets. It's an extra step but once you do this you won't have rivet issues. Also Rusty rivets are a true problem that's a you not airing out ur skates and removing ur insole issue.

    • @liamzanna
      @liamzanna Год назад

      @@Chanmantroop10 ok gonna be honest, never dealt with svh but the short rivets are a problem on true skates and I‘m pretty sure the svh have the same short rivets as all other True skates, it‘s just because their sole il so thin which is a good thing, drawback is that you have to use those shorter rivets. As for general wear and tear I can‘t really speak for the custom skates but retail I‘d put them at the same level. And that‘s coming from working at a CCM Store.

    • @Chanmantroop10
      @Chanmantroop10 Год назад +1

      @@liamzanna it's not bc of rivet length. If u use a shorter rivet bc of a thinner outsole, the length of the prongs should end up being the same.. The skate tech chooses the rivet length in accordance to the sole thickness. The problem with rivets going loose on true skates is more to do with the material the sole is made of. With Bauer and ccm there's another piece of material on top of the inside of the base of the boot. This material allows the rivet to grab onto better. True doesn't use this extra material.
      Also when you look at the new catalyst skates, the rivets aren't short at all and are installed insanely well. That and them being stainless now. Rivet issues were an issue with the first couple generations with true skates but even then I didn't have too much issues with them. As long as you remove the insoles and let them air out you'll be fine. Using the wrong size rivets are a problem in general, but that's not the reason they are getting loose esp if installed at the factory. Them getting loose after being replaced at a shop is the shop using the wrong size rivets.

    True also uses a pre-existing shell. They then mold it to your scan and build your layers, just the same as CCM. That's how you get skates in 10 days or less. Many glues require 24-48 hours to cure. So they make them in a day maybe two then ship them out. Mine were ordered on a Sunday and ordered on Friday the same week. CCM all the way

    • @Mike_Jones68
      @Mike_Jones68 Год назад +6

      Incorrect for the SVHs. They are 100% made to your foot, NOT a preexisting shell like CCM. The trues that follow that model are the Catalyst Pros, and in that routine they don't say "re-mold" the pre existing shell, they make the inside layers to contour around the scan of your foot. Believe me, the SVH Customs are like no other skate on the market
