I remember when local magic clubs played a big part of getting all the old stuff into the hands of the next aspiring magic scholar. Those clubs seem to be few and far between these days. We know partially how Aronson made his stack because he told us what routines he added to his stack. I do like that the Redford Stack can be shuffled into from New Deck order, and can be shuffled to and from Si Stebbins order. At the same time, Aronson has many built-in routines that cannot be done with the Redford stack. Both are different.
Pre-ordered this book and was one of the first to get it. I cannot recommend it enough for any stack workers. You don’t necessarily have to have read Temporary Out Of Order (the first of what will be a 3 book series “Completely” will be next), but it will add a lot to your arsenal. Also, his Facebook group is very active (compared to several others I belong to). He also keeps his online “toolboxes” (that are videos on things in the books) updated and expanded as needed. He is very “hands on” (in the group) and his customer service is great.
This is a new name for me. Thanks for the introduction of Patrick Redford. I am a Tamariz memorized deck student so I am happy to see that I am not required to learn a new order. Your videos are amazing Jeff. So much to learn, thanks for all your good word. I am becoming a card “astute”!!😀

The Aronson was intentionally designed with a ton of built-in features - Check out A STACK TO REMEMBER. You can't get into AS easily from a new deck. This is the stack I use. Simon tended to think mathematically about his magic. His suggestions on stack numbers, etc. is well thought out. Mnemonica is built to go from Stebbins and back. Not many can do that. The five-disc video series has a tutorial of his cuts and handlings. He also mentions that most of the time he only works with half a stack which allows him more freedom with shuffles. That fifth disc alone is worth the price of the set. The SIX-HOUR MEMORIZED DECK by Martin Joyal is a brilliant resource for mem-deck work. OOP and highly sought-after. Not only on his personal deck(s) but a historical view of them.
Did you ever try to order mnemonica from a new order deck? If you do it, you will see that Tamariz didnt shuffle it randomly. It has a mathematical procedure.
I've been floundering with Mnemonica for years and haven't done anything with it. But I may learn a new stack and see where that takes me. Redford stack sounds very practical with all the thought he has put into it. Are you familiar with Woody Aragon's stack and if so, comment on differences?
Great review, looking forward to checking out Patrick’s latest work. Redford books seem to fly a bit under the radar, which is surprising because he has really solid teachings within the pages. Check out his recent interviews with the Penguin podcast and Murphy’s RUclips channel, he is a genuinely nice and well informed individual.
I am just now, for the very first time, memorizing a stack-- rhymes with Mnemonica. I am in the process of being completely gob smacked by what can be done with a memdeck. Are you aware of the Bob Farmer work on memdeck?
It depends on your use case. I don't pretend that a memdack is easy. If you are looking for easy, I would stick with a cyclical stack like Si Stebbins. But a cyclical stack will never rival a memdek in terms of what it can do
Shame on you for implying that the Aronson Stack was not intentional and may have arisen through random shuffling! Cut the deck so the 6H is on top and the 10H is on bottom. Deal out five poker hands (fifth to yourself) and tell me that wasn’t intentional. ;)

As I recall Mr Aronson built some of the stack around Mr Close's construction . Need to reread that section
