I really appreciate people like you with the effort you take filming so we can enjoy your journey. It's great seeing it come to life. As others said, what you don't know you learn and things don't have to be perfect. I was impressed with your chainsaw lumber for your first try and no professional jig machine. We'll done and looking forward to the next video

Your progress is looking great. Don't worry about what you don't know, visualize what you want to accomplish and keep going. everything doesn't have to be done a certain way. The 8' x 10' building will serve you well! it is like twice the square footage of your van. I really enjoy your videos keep up the great work.

Great video Shawn. Don’t beat yourself up to badly about the tree. It will come. When we lived in Penny…we did the river crossing g for fifteen years. We brought quads, tractors etc across the river. We recently bought 70 acres down river from you and very excited to move there. Thankfully at our age there is a shop and small house already, anyways great video, 🇨🇦❄️

Use a string and weight held parallel to the trunk and c which way the tree wants to go. Used wedges to help convince the tree to go where you’d like it to go.

Look at the Dewalt worm drive saw and the nail gun. Combined with a decent "solar generator" these tools will pay for themselves. I ended up with the battery powered table saw and miter saw as I got deeper into my build. A small generator or solar panel will keep your batteries going for days. Go ahead and throw a couple propellers on your boat too; life savers.

  • @dcranch4820

200w portable solar panels, a deep cycle battery, charge controller and power inverter would be ideal for charging your tool batteries up there without the need for lugging gas up for a generator, it's quiet as well.

Well done. By the time you build that first cabin, you will know exactly what to do for the "second" real cabin. Then the third and so on. You are correct, though. Need a place to sleep. I might have insulated that floor. built the frame, and put in insulation. put plywood over it. flipped it and put a subfloor on. But, not sure what one man could "flip," I would be struggling along with you to know what to do. LOL. Really enjoying your adventure. As long as the cabin is warm you have it licked.
