I'll ride in the cold, but not if there's snow on the roads. I give you credit taking it off the hard pack. When I lived in South Jersey, I took my GS through the pinelands many times, not my cup of tea, especially the soft sand, the bike would just dig in. Anyway glad you got the bike out... Merry Christmas.
Me and the GS crew did a cold weather challenge in CT. Went out in 37 degree weather. Wind chill was 23 degrees. Heated Hotwire Jacket heated grips heated seats and Halvarssons Tihola gloves did fantastic! Yeah you need a pure knobby tire when off road and the ground is wet and cold. I thought you were trying to go over the stump. Ive used that technique too to turn around roll up and roll back. What rear 50/50 tire is that. I think I missed you mentioning the name. Me 2022 R 1250 GS 40th Anniversary, a 2023 1250 GS in White and a 2024 R 1300 GS Trophy!
If I see anything off-road from yours or crew's channels, I just have to watch 🤣 I put my road bike away once the roads are treated, I keep the dirt bike ready to go all year and can usually get one or two rides in a month over the winter. About that little incident🤔...it was not the tire's fault you got stuck, it was lack of proper technique and judgement. Once you're off the pavement, you're going to need a completely different skill set..."Enduro mode" with chucky tires isn't going to help if you don't have the skills. These big ADV bikes ARE NOT what a road rider should be trying to learn off-road on.
