I wore my Rolex Sub down in Miami and the Keys with no issues. Keeping your head on a swivel and being aware of your surroundings is always key. Having a concealed handgun and the training to back it up helps.
I wear a hair scrunchie over my watch when I am in public transport and walking the streets. That way, I get to enjoy it everyday and not be worried. There is a slight inconvenience of needing to push the scrunchie aside when I need to tell the time but I get a lot more joy wearing my Rolex just for me and not for anybody else to see. My colleague once mistook my scrunchie for a bandage and asked if I injured my wrist!
Sweat band works! But this is why you need a few watches. Can't go everywhere in a Daytona or 18k so you need not as loud watches. But also disappointed that you can't wear what you like after working so hard to obtain them
This is clearly a UK problem. I wear my Rolex watches everywhere in the states and nary a look. Well, of course I’m also carrying a SIG P365 in my waistband most days
Mainly a European problem, because most in European countries the law-abiding citizens have either been disarmed or carrying a firearm is so strictly regulated that only cops and gangsters carry them.
Exactly, I worked in China for 5 years and Japan for 1 year. The thought of my watch being robbed or stolen never even came across my mind. I could walk around the streets with it showing at midnight.

Even if you successfully defend your watch. Some Lefty DA is gonna prosecute you to pacify the Media and the Mob. You will spend next 1-2yrs on trial. You may still end up in prison if you do not hire the best Lawyer($500k-1M) and a professional Jury consultant($250k) too. Wear your Rolex when you visit Dubai , Singapore , China , Etc. When I had my first Rolex in 89 everyone used to pull me up and say "Is that fake?" I always replied. "Yes". Now people are being robbed, even for fake one's. I've passed both my Rolex' to my son who wears them occasionally, I've told him to sell them and have a good holiday. I personally wouldn't own another.
@@dougcameron6609there isn’t a sophisticated watch aficionado in the world that agrees with you. Just because they are the biggest player in the luxury watch world doesn’t mean they aren’t universally admired.
I’ve stopped wearing my Sub. Every time I used to wear it in London everyone asked to see it. It’s a magnet for danger. Even when I did wear it in restaurants with my wife it caused too much anxiety. Shame I saved hard for the watch. Now I wear a Tudor Pelagos. Both are insured
In terms of watches that are not Rolex: I think anything that cannot be sold quickly and easily is probably fairly safe, for example Breitling, Panerai, vintage Omega (not Speedmaster). Once the Swatch Blancpain is out, it will be risky to wear that in London, probably - depending for how much it goes on Ebay :) It's quite crazy. Lookalikes can be dangerous, too, thinking about Tudor here.
Good safety and security advice - and not just for watches. I don't wear anything I couldn't afford to lose. And I definitely don't flash things around.
If you need to watch this video, it's time to stop wearing a Rolex, and start thinking about voting in politicians who care about prosecuting criminals in your district.
Sadly, yes. This is the harsh reality. We all wish it was different. Be safe. Be careful. Wear your watch with great care. Remember, us watch enthusiasts should wear watches for ourselves; not for others.
@@Ooooomatron I have a feeling price of Rolex , Patek , Omega is gonna crater in a few years. Nobody is gonna want to buy a $5-10k watch when crime in these Cities is rampant and unpunished. A $200 Seiko may not even be safe to wear if it gets really bad.
@M3LTUP That is really sad. IMO wear your watch wherever you go, but just be streetwise. The tips in this video are very good, but really just common sense. Wearing a luxury watch in the right places often opens doors and makes one accepted. Unfortunate but true.
@gjonno you really think so? I cannot imagine people of substance treating you any different for wearing a certain watch. The problem is people of substance are a small minority. Can you elaborate a little on your experience? Do you treat people differently based on the watch they wear?
I wear a cheap Seiko for international travel. It uses GPS for multiple time zones. Also solar-powered and programmed for the day and date. An amazing watch that no one's going to hit me over the head to steal.
You’ve given some very good advice. I got the call from my AD and purchased my dream watch, the Bluesy Sub. I actually do what you do. I go to a nice restaurant wearing my Sub, but before I leave, I switch to my Invicta Pro Diver which is an excellent copy. If someone demands my watch after I’ve left, I’ll happily give them the Invicta and make the spotter from the restaurant look like an absolute fool!
Great tips! Common sense required and as much as like to think I have a dose of it, I recently made a naïve mistake. I was on a short break to Barcelona which is sadly known for its street crime (theft) where organised gangs operate in the tourist centre targeting innocent holiday makers distracted by the sights & sounds of this great Catalonian city. After some reflection, I had decided to travel in my Rolex Yacht Master in Everose gold. As it is on a rubber strap I believed it to be more subdued that a full gold watch, and therefore less eye catching. On my first day walking around the city centre, I was just entering the Gothic quarter when my self-awareness was heightened. As it was a hot day I was not wearing a long sleeve that would have helped cover the watch. BIG MISTAKE. Whilst walking down a busy lane I heard someone behind me say into his phone (in Spanish) ‘I don’t think this is the best place’. Understanding what had been said, my instincts kicked-in. I stopped on the spot, turned, took a good look at the guy eye to eye and realised he was following me. He was surprised I had understood him and the situation and slipped into a small alley, stopped and continued to watch me whilst talking into his phone. Knowing they operate in gangs I now realised I only had 2 options: continue forward or go back the way I had come. 2ND MISTAKE: I continued on down this long narrow street which offered no escape, except into small shops or down even narrower and more precarious alleys. Adrenaline flowing, I sped up (making me even more visible amongst the slow pedestrians. Aiming to get to the main Las Ramblas thoroughfare I started to notice spotters positioned at regular intervals of 20 meters or so eyeing me and checking my wrist. All appeared to be in constant telephone contact. On exiting the street into Las Ramblas I started to dart in and out of the crowd in the vain hope that I could escape their attention. As I was approaching the main (square) Placa Cataluña two more guys on phones slowly crossed my path, one directly in front and one behind. I made sure they saw I had taken a good look at them in case I need to identify them. One more, I changed direction weaving in and out, left and right yet progressing forwards to the main square. I saw an opportunity to enter a shopping centre into a multi-floor store I was familiar with. I darted in and up the escalator, up again, and circled around for about 10 mins to observe if they had followed me inside. Thinking more clearly I realised I needed to get back to the hotel. That was still about a kilometre walk but doable if I veered off the main path. I made my exit from the store, via an alternative exit to my entrance, and headed up parallel streets to a tapas bar vacated by locals that I know. I entered and sat by the bar hidden by a pillar and calmed down, had a drink and then headed to my hotel somewhat sweaty but very relieved to be safe. I secured my watch in the hotel safe not to be worn until I was through security at the airport some 3 days later. LESSON LEARNED. I consider myself very lucky to have evaded the gang having retained my £20k watch. FOLLOWING YOUR TIPS would have avoided this situation. NOTED for the future 🙏
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm pleased it didn't have an unhappy ending. Well done for having your wits about you and managing to avert the situation.
Barcelona is notorious. Especially the subway and Rambla area. Has been a long long time like this. The authorities don't seem to do anything about it.
I have a very nice Japanese import solar powered G shock. Wearing a 20K watch in a city you are unfamiliar in makes no sense. PS Please don't stroll alone in Central Park after midnight and say NYC is crime ridden. NYC subway at 2:00 AM no, take an Uber.

I observe the restaurant or the area I'm Going to sit or be in for any characters that strike me as a little suss. Between venues I put the sleeves down. Only pop it if I feel safe and this is no guarantee.
I have the latest version of the Omega Speedmaster Professional. I normally wouldn't be concerned about some thug trying to rob me for it but the new bracelet that it comes with is gorgeous and more ritsy that the previous ones. So when I'm wearing the Speedy casually with short sleeves I have it on a very nice Artem black sailcloth strap (the Hesalite crystal version of the Speedy can actually be purchased with a bracelet or an Omega sailcloth strap and deployment clasp while the Sapphire version comes with a bracelet or leather strap). The watch looks great on the strap and I've always liked the way my chronographs look on straps. It gives them more of a "tool" watch feel. For more formal occasions, the bracelet goes back on (and I've actually gotten pretty good at getting those Omega bracelets on an off, no easy task) and I have to admit, it's a looker and gets a lot of admiring comments . It's why I will always get quality watch on its bracelet but can switch to strap when I want to or, for safety, need to.
Rolexes are easy to sell and pull off, but in general, the super high value watches like RM, PPs are much much harder to sell without papers and will be confiscated easily when the serial numbers are checked.
Imagine waiting months and spending thousands of dollars to buy something that you can’t even enjoy due to fear. The Rolex brand has been ruined by artificially low supply and high prices.
Honestly, it depends on the country and its crimes. Here where im from most people dont wear watches at all and it sucks. I have one rolex oyster watch and honestly people do be staring at it because its 'unusual' you don't see shiny watches daily. It sucks to wear it daily due to stress so I only wear it when im hanging out with friends or having important meetings my daily walking with no watches
Why a Rolex Explorer (1) is such a great Rolex watch to own. Total class yet way under the radar! Most people have no idea it’s a Rolex. Wearing a Sub is a completely different vibe and you can feel the attention, while no one takes a second look at the Explorer. But YOU know it’s a Rolex and a damn nice one too !
A great comment and I agree the Explorer I is certainly an understated and less attention grabbing timepiece, yet stands shoulder to shoulder with its brethren’s when it comes to watchmaking prowess. 👍🏼
I wear an athletic wristband over my wrist covers my Rolex at all times and only remove the wristband when I an inside the building at the party or restaurant. I also have a rule as to how late I get home. I also very rarely wear my Rolex anyways. It also helps to wear a fake Rolex on the other hand to give the thief just in case
Its a shame you can't buy clip on watch disguises, that makes an expensive watch look like a Casio, the outer plastic could even protect the watch on transit from bumps and knocks.
I own a 2024 Bluesy. I was not at all comfortable wearing it. I have therefore purchased a Superclone 1:1 version of the watch (indistinguishable from the real thing). I wear the Superclone with no concerns about theft or damage (damage is just as big a concern with the Bluesy). I am going to do this with one or two of my other Rolexes. I do not feel bad about this as long as I own the real thing I feel fine doing it. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t own the genuine version.
I always wear a black sub non date on a nato strap (a nod to James Bond) or a Tudor when in unknown areas, especially London. It’s a shame but you wouldn’t go out and not close your front door 🤷🏻♂️
I work at an indoor range (Texas) 😅 and I see many clients with Tag Heuer, Rolex, and Omega watches. Seen many Sea masters, Speedys, Oysters, Subs, DateJust, and recently an amazing GMT 2 Coke!
I don't think to much about it when I am wearing my Seamaster 300m - I just enjoy wearing it. But it depends on the situation: clubbing or walking at night at an unsafe area, I leave my watch at home. But when I am at the restaurant and cinema with my girlfriend I don't care :-) Ps: I am always covering my watch with my jacket or sweater if possible. I wear my watch for myself. :-)
I like your sign off comment; you wear your watch for yourself. Their in lies the fundamental shift in watch-wearing risk! Who do we wear watches for? Ourselves? Or for others? Well done. 👏🏼
@@johnprosser5035 I think those robbers don't care if it's a Rolex, Patek, AP, Omega, Breitling, Hublot, IWC or whatever. All they are interested in is money so I guess a Seamaster is a good target for them as well. Additionally it's a very popular model. So take care also with these kind of watches.
I don’t like luxury items that signal status to other people. I wear watches for work, and I’ll get rid of them the moment I retire. In fact after years of buying these watches, I got the subtle message from the industry that isn’t obvious to most people. Time is precious. Nothing signifies good times like an expensive wristwatch. All this bollox of the movement etc is irrelevant. Production price rarely exceeds $1000. For me, the only reason i own some is the same reason a rapper recently rapped “they can tell by my watch that it’s a different time”. I like my fitness watch personally. I’ve got more utility out of it than any other. If I was to buy one for quality, it would probably be a Credo from Japan. It’s just that my phone tells me the time, it’s wasteful. But I’m nearly 40 now, I stopped caring about what people thought of me a long time ago.
When I go on vacation I buy a sweatband and cover my watch up with it. Effective? Don't know , maybe it make it more conspicuous, but at least they cannot see whats underneath.
Depends on the situation or event. I don’t wear my expensive watches everyday. I have a cheap watch I wear at home. I have another watch for going out and about and a luxury watch for special occasions.
Its a case of thinking about the factors of it being lost or stolen in scenarios or areas. I would never wear a nice watch in London in public. I would remove my watch and never put it in a tray without putting in a bag in airport security and finally its never openly displayed on bare arms and covered by cuffs
To insure your Rolex is a good idea but its very expensive and to pay that yearly fee for insurance you can buy another Rolex. Unless you know a cheap insurance watch company better off get a safe. You mentioned be careful where you go. You didn’t mention clubs. There are some women in clubs that know what Rolex looks like. They target these men and put something in their drink. When the lady takes the man to his apartment. He feels sleepy and then she takes his Rolex and other belongings in his apartment so even when you’re dating or trying to find someone can put you at risk when wearing a Rolex. The problem with switching watches and giving it to your wife and putting it in her purse can accidentally get lost. It’s better you wear it then keep switching on and off. When you keep taking off your watch and giving it to your wife to put it in her purse, put you at higher risk for accidentally dropping it, misplacing it, getting damaged due to other items inside the purse. If you keep removing and reattaching your Watch to give to the wife can potentially wear the band or strap reducing its lifespan. I still think you should just wear your Rolex and enjoy life. I lived in New York City for 24 years and I was wearing a Casio and I still got mugged. If they’re going to mug you and you show like you’re a victim, you’ll get robbed. However, if you’re wearing a Rolex, but you walk confident, and not weak looking, that will make you a harder target to be robbed. I think you need to mention that when you walk in dangerous neighborhoods with your Rolex definitely use common sense but you can’t walk weak like a victim. Need to walk with determination. It’s all about psychology.
Boy, if you're afraid to wear your jewelry, this isn't the jewelry for you. How bad, for example, that you change your watch when you leave the restaurant (I read in the comments someone who wears his Rolex while eating, but exchanges it for an Invicta when leaving 🤪).
Some good tips here. It’s a sad state of the affairs in many parts of the world unfortunately. Bought my Sub in 2000 and have worn it all over Europe and LATAM without any issues, however as watch crime increased from around 10 years ago I bought an IWC Aquatimer to wear as well as its not as recognisable at the usual suspects, Rolex, Omega, Cartier etc and wear that most weekends and holidays if I am going outside my “comfort zone”. Still a nice watch but not going to attract the same attention and built well for beach/sports etc..Some others on rotation but using common sense is a must.
I’m on your side on this one, however what sucks is that the law will work against you even after the fact and the police are not your friend either. Can’t even protect your own damn property without being prosecuted against.
Yes so because of your laws you get to act like a tough guy. Meanwhile 30K people a year get killed by firearms including many children. In the UK we have never had a year when more than 100 people have been shot dead. Could even one of your cities match that?
I own a genuine Rolex Bluesy. I then purchased a Superclone Rolex Bluesy. The genuine stays in the safe and the Superclone I wear with very little concern.
Its quite safe, if you live in a country thats not UK or US. Thats the sad truth, i from central europe and i could be walking around in the capital at night with it and noone would bat an eye or even care.
Yes, cities seem to go through waves of change. Hopefully the streets of the city will return to a safer place in the near future. Sadly, I think a lot of change needs to happen to prevent it!
I considered wearing a wrist sweat band (see Joe Rogan and Russell Crowe) It might look a bit obvious you’re hiding a watch but it might deter someone from trying
I think you have it about right. I don’t think too many of the bad guys be as interested in anything sub-10k (considering the risk / reward). Most of the news that is covered tends to be on much higher value Rolex / Patek / R.M. But there may be many other unfortunate stories that are untold of lower priced watches different brands being targeted. 😔
Thank you for your wise advice. 30-years ago I was attacked in the foyer of my New York apartment building at approximately 1 AM ( I was in the restaurant management business and arriving home from a long day at the restaurant). The attacker immediately jumped my back and began a stranglehold on my neck with his left arm while stabbing me on my right arm and shoulder with a sharp knife. I was about to lose conscienceless as he said, “Give me your watch!” I owned a beautiful gold/steel Rolex Datejust that I purchased new in Texas in 1978 after graduating from college. I was afraid that he had an accomplice with him who either could have killed me or done serious bodily harm with a gun or knife (I was both tired and exhausted from not being able to breathe). I slowly took off the watch and tossed it away from me to see who my attacker was as he ran to retrieve my Rolex. He quickly left the building (there was no accomplice). I eventually went to the hospital and was treated for multiple wounds. My wife was 7-months pregnant and I was only able to tell her that I was “hurt, but OK”on my way home. I didn’t want to tell her my details of the attack in her expectant condition. I have since come to terms with the fact that if I were to go back and forth to work on the NYC subway that it would not be wise to own a valuable watch simply to fit in with the clientele that I saw every day and night. I still would desire a Rolex replacement, but I would find it not safe to wear, especially when crime is mostly unstoppable.
When intending to carry stuff you can't afford to hand over, be at somebody's place, or a public venue, or inside a taxi at all times. No walking to a car or strolling outside. Posh places have parking service for a reason: it's not for convenience, it's so you need ten steps at the most from the venue's Portier to your car.
Sometimes I’ll just not park there. I feel that more than the watch. Always make sure the mirrors tucked in. At first I would park right next the front door at hotels because of anxiety, not the flash. I feel like I’ll feel more comfortable in a g63 parking, but we’ll see.
I never wear my watch now. Got tiered of tapping my wrist every few minutes, checking it was still there. Use to keep my hand in my pocket on the street so it could not be slipped off. I got tiered of the constant vigilance and realised the watch owned me. I also realised I was putting my wife and daughter at risk too. Yea it’s insured, but the trauma of having it stolen just isn’t worth it for me. Plus the big duck energy men have when they wear expensive watches doesn’t sit with me anymore!

First thing I did when bought what for me was my first expensive watch. Was a Ferrari it cost me U$ 900 on 1985, was just 20 years old had earn some good amount of money and was in Italy. Back home start wearing on the right wrist to not be robbed being distracted while driving. Today when going out in the evening and have to walk, just put in my pocket until is safe to have it on. I took a chance that payed off in the end, was a Sunday around 17 pm and stop at the red light. Was not a Rolex but had a Breitling Chrono on, when two guys came up to me. One had under his shirt a gun pointing at me saying your watch or i shoot your head, thought lost my watch . When was about to take it off start talking BS buying time for the green light, had the car on first gear and left foot on the clutch. The guy kept saying man i gonna shoot you, my brain said to me. Man has past 30 seg and where is the gun, told him right away show me your gun and the watch is yours. He said you are a dead man , I had him and begun F,,,,,,,g around asking your finger shoots bullets? You both stupid a,,,les a real thief show his gun and in three segs job is done. That took place in Rio but it can happen anywhere, like my friend in ST Tropez. Someone broke in his house and took his Rolex sub and one priceless Gold Carter Dumont given to him on his birthday engraved by George Michael. They were good friends.
Very good tips. Like the idea of a decoy watch. Saw a story where a guy lost a Rolex out side the airport, guy came up on motorcycle and pointed gun at him. There petty sure some spotter saw him around the airport. So yeah wear a cheap watch when traveling.
If I owned something that put my life or my family’s life at risk, I would get rid of it immediately. No material item is worth the risk of harm to your family.
Are you people serious? Just to step out of your home, one has to make a plan as in some sort of military operation. For all of that inconvenience, one gets to give Rolex an inordinate amount of your hard earned money, for an overpriced watch, which is not very accurate anyway. There is one born every minute.
I’m seeing a lot of comments here about wearing a Rolex and carrying a Glock, and I must say that I am very disappointed. I’d have expected those wearing Rolexes to be carrying something bougie, like a Staccato or Heckler & Koch. 🤷🏻♂️😆
This is where super clones come into their own...if you can afford the original then a super clone is well within the reach to be an added purchase.....keep the original in the safe and wear the clone. This is not a new concept but has been done in the high end diamond and priceless jewelry industry and the rich and famouse. So when those who ask what's the point of a replica you know they haven't the real thing.
Don't be fooled & believe its just about potential thieves checking out your time piece in public settings. It can be the closest ones to you that can set you up as well and you won't see it coming
Great video. Absolutely right...be vigilant and be smart. Dont wear very expensive watches on public transportation, use Uber and Lyft (get a regular driver). If having a night out go in a group and desinate a safety. I've got two ex military (Rangers/ Spec Ops) guys I've known since high school. I'm 6'4" but they're both 6'6" built like linebackers and both are happily married. So I call their wives and have them coordinate a night out. Great time with besties and zero hassles. Traveling if I take a luxury watch (I rarely do) I dont go out to mass public or night cl7bs with it.
I used to, until I started working in a jail. Those guys notice everything you’re wearing from shoes to shirts to watches. That’s how they make a living.
I’m a watch enthusiast and have a modest collection (no Rolex or the ‘big 3’) What amazes me is the chats I’ve heard in the social media by wealthy watch owners what watch they wear, etc… The moment I mention security, safety measures, nobody follows up its like the subject has no relevance to their lives and their immune to being beaten up and robbed on the street. Maybe they’re so rich and too embarrassed to mention ‘… Oh by the way my personal security take care of potential watch snatching issues when I’m out in public…’ 😂
@@robertbrandywineSurely your joking? Have you kept up with the news lately? This shit happens in exactly those rich leafy suburbs and prestigious city streets, especially in London. Organized motorbike gangs will even mount the kerb boot the designer dog and girlfriend out of the way before wrestling the watch of the mans wrist. They’ll knock your teeth out and spill blood if they have to. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere. Even Andrew Tate mentioned that a man can’t even wear a nice watch around the decent streets of London without worrying about being beaten up and robbed. Love him or hate him the man has a very salient point. The gangs are tailing rich folks out there without them even knowing they’ve been selected, the same rich folks multiple times. They’ll break off a hit and look for fresh blood if risk factor moves up a notch, they’re doing that all the time until the target gets sloppy. 20 years ago I seen a businessman robbed with my own eyes by 2 thugs brandishing machetes in broad daylight in the posh Brompton area of London when watch crime wasn’t even a topic. What do you think is going on now? Watch crime doubling in like 7 years, c’mon. Pardon the pun, but the alarm clock went off years ago, wake up man.
Great idea Gordon. I might get some of those. Main difference between a fake and Rolex is that one is Swiss watch brand (good or bad I’ll leave you to decide) and the other is a nasty illegal product that fuels criminal activity steals away from the real brand 😑
A watch thief or mugger doesn’t know if a watch is real or fake . Imagine being assaulted ( or worse ) for a fake . Wearing a fake still makes you a target. Someone was killed in London this year for a fake Patek.
Great tips and points to be safe. In the same principle as this discussion, I wear my wedding ring which is valued at more Than most any of these watches. You just have to have situational awareness, whether you’re a man or woman. Know your surroundings, I dont wear expensive things when going to an impoverished country on vacation, or at some places at work. As a woman, your a target with or without a ring or a watch.
Good points, but the Invicta looks like a submariner from a distance which could get you spotted and possibly mugged for it. Why not wear a casio as a decoy watch ?
Yeap, Invicta Sub looks like a Rolex from a distance, I was going to visit Mexico City but there is a high crime right now with stealing Rolex and luxury watches, I would not dare take the invicta and risk myself getting killed, that's how dangerous it is.
Here’s my strategy. Unusual, doubt anyone has done it. But I always have a shoe lace around my waist under the shirt/pants. When it feels sketch I’ll put my watch around the lace, tie it and tuck it into my crotch area, above underwear but not in it. Watch dial facing me not zipper side. Haven’t had many times to use this but I always have the lace on me in case. Just like a belt you put on everyday. Dissapears when not needed but there when you feel like there’s something up. Robbers don’t check crotch area for watches lol.
I can't speak to what his hometown is like, but you'd be INSANE to come to New York and wear a Rolex on public transportation. Bus rides here are Casio occasions.
Rolex Daytona Men's Watch Two Tone is my watch since 2008. I wear it everywhere. I conciled when needed. I would get nightmares of being ganged up in shoddy neighborhoods for the watch. hahaha.
I’m fortunate enough to live in a part of America where we have the 2nd amendment of the constitution still. If I could not lawfully carry then I’d be a little concerned.
So what does that do? It just means that thieves in your area are just more aggressive and aware of the fact that anyone could conceal carry, so they probably pull a gun on you pretty fast. Do you have time to react and pull yours out then? I don't think so.

Exactly. While traveling the EU, there laws in regard to self defense ensure you will always be a victim and at your attackers mercy.

So you don't think about it but you cover it with a jacket or a sweater? sounds like you think about it then.
If I was to buy one for quality, it would probably be a Credo from
Japan.
Thanks for that great idea. Very useful.
Depends on the situation or event. I don’t wear my expensive watches everyday. I have a cheap watch I wear at home. I have another watch for going out and about and a luxury watch for special occasions.
Not just a ROLEX. Any luxury peace.
Thanks for the reply and interesting comment! Take care of yourself (and others). All the best.
Thanks for the comment. More and more people are doing similar. It’s a good strategy. 👍🏼🙏🏻

I think you have it about right. I don’t think too many of the bad guys be as interested in anything sub-10k (considering the risk / reward). Most of the news that is covered tends to be on much higher value Rolex / Patek / R.M.

Very informative -- and very troubling . .
All good tips!….thanks for posting
Some people don't live in dangerous areas.
I wear a black towel wrist band over the watch, the type you see on tennis courts, a fake Rolex costs about the same as an Invictor.
Great idea Gordon. I might get some of those. Main difference between a fake and Rolex is that one is Swiss watch brand (good or bad I’ll leave you to decide) and the other is a nasty illegal product that fuels criminal activity steals away from the real brand 😑
@@PrestigeWatches What are you talking about ? Invicta is no black market replica manufacturer - Clean and others are.
@@BarneyRolls thanks for spotting Barney. A typo indeed.
Sometimes take your watch off and slip it to a friend under the table
Don’t wear mine in London or New York, which is a shame, but not worth the risk.
Good advice. Be streetwise.
Since wearing my Sub since 2006, I have had maybe 3 people notice it and say something. The others simply tried to mug me.
I think if you have 3 bodyguards that look as if they flex their muscles it will rip their shirts...you should be fine.
Love the decoy idea ❤
Here’s my strategy. Unusual, doubt anyone has done it.
But I always have a shoe lace around my waist under the shirt/pants. When it feels sketch I’ll put my watch around the lace, tie it and tuck it into my crotch area, above underwear but not in it. Watch dial facing me not zipper side.
Haven’t had many times to use this but I always have the lace on me in case. Just like a belt you put on everyday. Dissapears when not needed but there when you feel like there’s something up. Robbers don’t check crotch area for watches lol.
Such a great video. Thank you.

I would get nightmares of being ganged up in shoddy neighborhoods for the watch. hahaha.
Hope you sent it back for overhaul, she's a old girl over the time you had her.😅
Adding a Jewelry Floater to your Homeowners Policy is a effective means to solve the problem.
Home owners only covers to a point, plus you need the appraisal. Jewelers insurance will cover for a decent price.
I’d love to have a Rolex air king just to sink some cash into something that has resale value but I wouldn’t necessarily wear such a luxury item
@@1983JackoStill better than living in a state where only the criminals have access to firearms. Either way bad guys are gonna have guns/weapons. Might as well level the playing field a bit.
Not really a good strategy. If you have to shoot it out over your Rolex. You are probably gonna be prosecuted by the local corrupt DA.
@@1983Jacko criminals are lazy and want the "path to least resistance". they may be willing to k*ll you for a watch (although a thief may not want to escalate to murder) but they are not willing to die for it. criminals dont want to get into kung fu battles or shoot outs. also, most are not trained as they cant go to gun ranges with illegal guns (and again, they are lazy). you would be surprised how quickly a trained person can respond to a threat. there is no guarantee that if you "just give him what he asks for" that he will leave you a lone after that.
@@1983Jacko it doesn’t actually work like that. Nice assumption though. Looking a crime data, areas where concealed carry is allowed have significantly lower crime rates. Gee wiz, wonder why lol.
Where do you get insurance for your watch?
I did using Admiral, they required a receipt to validate the purchase but it wasn’t too expensive
@@tonyh1460 thanks 🙏
