I visited Arizona last March and did this drive from Tucson to Phoenix right after sunrise and was surprised by how scenic this drive was. Also that winter they got doused with a lot of rain and it was way greener than I expected, much more so than in this video!
Such a mesmerizing drive through the Arizona desert! 🌵🚗 The views are stunning, especially with that 4K clarity. Have you ever taken this route during sunset or sunrise? I imagine it must be even more breathtaking!
It's interesting how humans have learned to thrive in the desert. This Interstate goes through all kinds of terrain, swamps, desert, mountains, plains, an engineering feat.
From a whole lotta nothin' to a whole lotta somethin'. AZDot should have built that stretch south of Phoenix up to six lanes some time ago. Looks like they're trying to catch up with that bridge. The 'Phoenix bypass' is a somewhat upgraded AZ 84 and US 80 (now I-8 and AZ 85) I-19 was US 89. US 70 now ends at US 60 at Globe; 60 itself ends at I-10 east of Quartzsite. None of those cross-country roads of yesteryear (US 60, 70 or 80) make it to California. Thanks, Caltrans.
