- Acts of extortion that are allegedly getting out of hand in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, have seen AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo call an urgent meeting with different sectors.
Some businesses in the area have closed down, as owners have been receiving demands to pay protection fees in exchange for their businesses not being robbed.
This appears to have escalated, with some schools in Mthatha West being targeted by criminals, demanding protection fees.

The Eastern Cape is honestly embarrassing. Instead of complaining about real issues such as the very levels of employment, this is what they want to tackle. Greed, that is all. Even going as far as shutting down schools.
I don't know how this works, isn't the tower owner who must pay school not the other way around?. The school hosts the tower in its land, guiding it and also uses its electyricity. The tower owner makes a lot of money from the ISPs who have thier equipment on that tower.

I was a victim also in Mthatha bcz of driving a GP truck, on a garage filling fuel a taxi come with 4 gentlemen inside a accusing me of giving people a hike so I have apologize them and pay them or they are to shoot me. With the help of the garage management they called for excort team to take me out of Mthatha. They pretend to be taxi association team yet they are robbers. Making a bad name to taxi associations. Mthatha now a bad area on truck drivers not safe, be careful guys.
