i say cross duvudubfg is faster for 72/3 = 24 x 8 =192 its easier to multiply smaller numbers and you keep the numbers smaller by doing the division first

You took the test already ? Was it exactly like this one just phrased differently?

I suck at this, it’s been years since reviewing a math equation. 😅

Why did you flip the fraction ? When is this needed ?

When you divide fractions you're supposed to flip them (the reciprocal is the flipped version)

      when you multiply fractions it’s
      1/2 * 2/3 multiplied straight across
division is the opposite of multiplication, so you flip over the number you’re dividing by and you can now multiply straight across
      so 1/2 divided by 2/3 becomes 1/2 * 3/2
      fractions are weird bro

i’ve been tearing math for a while, and in my experience, people who use Shortcuts without understanding how to get there, makes it harder to learn.
let me break it down for you. a few basic concepts
any number divide by 1 = the same number
      1/1 = 1
      10/1 = 10
      72/1 = 72
imagine you have a pizza and you cut it into 5 slices. then you give them all to one person. how many slices does that person have? 5, they get all 5 slices
this is how we rewrite 72 into 72/1 as a fraction
      now for dividing fractions
      72 / (3/8) =?
to make it easier to understand we have to learn why we use reciprocals.
how do i make the denominator into 1?
the denominator (the number on the bottom of the fraction) is (3/8) if i multiply 3/8 by 8/3 i get 1.
      3 x 8 = 24
      8 x 3 = 24
and any number over itself = 1
      so 24/24 = 1
so now that we multiplied the bottom number by the reciprocal of 8/3 we have to do the same to the numerator to keep the fraction balanced.
this is how we get 72 * (8/3).
this is quite a large number to compute. let’s start with 72.
      8/3 can be written as
      8/1 * 1/3
      72 * (1/3) or 72/3 = 24
      24 * (8/1) = 192
