There is one point to consider Normally one compares a new and good ssd with a used and worn out HDD. It can be an important point. But in general it is an improvement, in loading times, in internal temperature of the ps4 (ssd does not heat up). Before it was a luxury now with the cost of a 1tb ssd I think it is a good investment. Some say that because it is sata2 it is not necessary... well that depends on what you think is necessary. sata2 maximum is 300mb/s... a mechanical disk (hdd) goes approx 100mb/s.
I just ordered some thermal pads and a SATA 3 SSD 1TB, for around 50$. I will clean the PS4, change the thermal paste and pads and install the new SSD. From this video it seems it's roughly 40% quicker, so the upgrade is definitely worth it. Thanks for the demonstration!
by the way the hard drive dont need too be sony because sony drives are mostly over priced i got a segate one . i am not loyal too one brand i own all consoles and platforms pc ps1 ps2 ps3 xbox 360 xbox one and series x and ps vita and switch and a 3ds and psp and a vita and i soon own a wii u and rebuy a ps3 slim i need the ps3 slim and super slim in my collection .
I have no problem with ps4 hdd or sdd. I was impressed with the quality of the ps4 and the ps4 games, especially the exclusive game and in its era, the exclusives games were very solid. there is nothing in the ps5 era😂😂 garbage

There will be a lot of texture pop in and the city will not look the same as in PS5 due to lack of ray tracing and higher quality textures and models. Still, PS4 was a great generation with a superior game and exclusive library. If you get a used PS4 without much wear and tear, it's a must buy.

Ssd doesn't improve fps😅 It has higher read and write speeds so loading speeds improve. Performance is determined by memory and central and graphics processing units.
Last time i tried doing this, i got an SU-41333-4. error code when its telling me to use a usb to update file i even put the update file into PS4 and UPDATE not sure if i had the reinstallation file or not. gonna try again. very frustrating getting this shit to work!
@@NT_80 PS4 Slim has no Super Sampling or Boost Mode. PS4 Pro has Forced Boost Mode & Forced Super Sampling. PS5 has NO Super Sampling for PS4 Pro Enhanced games, it plays the Native PS4 slim version.. PS5 Pro will have super sampling tho.

However I’m now spoilt by the PS5 loading times especially in spiderman 2 where the fast travel is instant without any loading.
No i disagree with you. do have a point to some degree that yes only the PS4 PRO takes full advantage of the SSD but as you can see they're still improvement in loading times with fat PS4 or Slim
I disagree too. There’s a thing called random read/writes. Even the most basic sata ssd runs circles around a 5400rpm hdd in that. It’s 2024, flash ememory is cheap and hdds only make sense if you want literal terabytes of storage for things like a NAS

You need a upgrade. I upgraded my ps4 with 500gb lunatic ssd and thermal paste it runs so stable and quiet.
PS4 slim has Sata 3 if you have bought it after 2019 year models. mine sadly one year before 2019 still sata II

I have applied an ssd to my ps4 slim but the fps in online games like warzone didn't change only the loading times improve😢

I had the same issue and what worked for me is formatting the USB drive to exFAT, instead of FAT32. Do that and installation should work.
