@@harshgoyal2075 no because when we are considering the final length L1, we willl not be taking into account the length along the intersection of L1 and L2. So it'll be L1/R+t1 (the arc formed by the outer face of rod L1) . otherwise why aren't we taking L2/R? because for the smaller rod's length, we are considering it's inner concave surface, not the length along it's intersection with L1. I hope I was able to convey point. It'll be helpful if others also clarify point.
