I saw three Ramones concerts and read articles, books, reviews, interviews. In practice, modestly, I believe I know all that is possible to know about them. Well, I think they were giants and Dee Dee was a real artist. A pure soul in a cursed body, victim of excessive behavior that led him to death not because of an illness. I love them all, but I think he's right about Joey; he was suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder and was terrified of shifts and changes. The Ramones were composed of very different boys, often in conflict, but who were battleships on stage. Even today, after so many years, I can't believe that only Marky survived. This is only my personal opinion. HHLG.
I miss him like I miss a close friend, though I never met him. He just had a magnetic appeal to me and seemed - through the songs - to be speaking to me in a personal way. He had that rare and irresistible appeal.

Joey God Rest His Soul Deserved all the best his bandmates had to say about him. Unfortunately that was not the case at all..I adore the Ramones, but the way Joey was so dismissed when they where inducted into the RRHOF was so disrespectful....He was the front man without the airs and he was great..That said, they are now all deceased and is a loss to the music industry..

Dee Dee was actually a hygiene freak. He was known to take 5 baths or 3 showers a day. And his autopsy report said he had ALL his natural teeth - that's a rarity for a dopefiend. I had a heroin dependency for most of my adult life. Nearly 30 years and I had dentures by my late 40's.
