I had a 1955 Packard. Not worth much by then but it was a heavy machine. Got only 7 MPG with its 350 cubic inch (or so) engine. It had a 2+2 carburator (sic).. Normally ran on 2 valves, but when you fully floored it the other two valves opened up. And despite the tonnage it weighed, it would explode forward! One time someone shot at the driver side rear door. The bullet entered from outside but never penetrated the inside of the door; the door steel was that dense.
Thanx for the car ID. I thought I saw Duesenburg in script on the left side of the hood, but it was barely in focus. The boxy grill suggested an expensive car and Packard did come to mind .....before I saw the script.
I'm still not sure what the script on the hood was, but the movie must hold the world's record for screen time. Problem with the argument for "free ads" is that the movie is 1946. (Aug 20, 2020.)
My dream car is still the 1934 Packard Town Car. I'd want to have the body restored to mint condition (black with chrome trim), the interior furnished in crushed velour, and a big Chrysler 440 Police Interceptor under the hood with two Holley 4-barrels, and all that through an automatic transmission. We're talking plush comfort with raw guts to back it up. **I plan to buy one just as soon as my rich uncle gets out of the poor house.

Didn’t get how he gave Evelyn Price money, told her to go to a motel and call him...when she called in fear he was totally rude to her. Love these old movies...a time when America was still America.
@Blonde Ice What magnificent things did he do??? 😆😂. Thank God Trump came along and cleaned up the mess he made of this nation, and got things back on track!!
Back in the 1940's they had UTNS, the Universal Telephone Number System. You could call anyone on the telephone, even someone you'd barely even heard of, just by dialing the omni-number. That way, you never had to look anybody up in a phone book.
What I like--a mystery with some fun in it. And, Veda Ann Borg was really pretty in this. My favorite part she played was the "landlady" in Big Jim McClain--quite a character. Thnx.
I've had the hots for Veda Ann Borg ❤since I was in Junior High School back in the mid-1950's. That proves that I had impeccable taste❤ even at that age.
This is a great one because it was also funny and had some stereo types that are gone mostly in these modern times. That looked like Scotty's Castle in the desert. I wonder if this was a fund raiser for Scotty's Castle ? Good location "out in the middle of nowhere" the film crew stayed in trailers maybe? Now it's a park if this is the one. I like the scene with the shooter using the castle battlements as a shield. Great car shots throughout! Thank You for posting this gem.
Thomas...Your comment about the castle got me interested and I did some looking up and found that this castle is actually called Shea's Castle, in Lancaster, Cal.

It's a 3/10 from me. Its storyline is bizarrely fractured, and despite being film noir, its ending strangely morphs into a western scenario set with a castle backdrop. Yuck! It's one of those movies that are so bad they're memorable... Nevertheless, thanks to DDC for uploading!
1,240 views and no one makes a comment. What does that say about this ???movie??? Thumbs up or down count has me and my like minded thinkers in the minority. No accounting for taste I guess.
its interesting that it screams boredom to me something about the thumbnail annoys me i dont like it and want to beat up the actors and burn the studio.
@MissDroplette I see and thanks. i wouldn't called his looks leading man type thats for sure but a decent fit for the Stooges though i preferred the Little Rascals or the Bowery Boy/East side kids on a weekend morning. I was born in 1955
Love these old movies with fast hip dialogue. Gone are the dazz!!! I hope we fortunate never run out of these old B - gems.
the guy never stopped, fast moving thriller thank you
Cool 3 state car chase scene in this movie. That 41' Packard Convertible is awesome and worth a FORTUNE today!

This is a commercial for the 1942 Packard model Six convertible!

I got a bit lost at the castle but enjoyed the film generally as it never stopped moving and held my attention. Good one.
me too but got there in the end
Excellent!!! Thank you for making it available. Great old flick!

Yeah, not a crisply written script. A few more clunker scenes but overall not too bad.
Great location shots of the Antelope Valley! Thanks. v
Enjoying this in June of 2020. This will go down as a momentous year in US and World History.
Exactly! 2020. The year of the big steal.

Loved the humour of Eddie&his one liners. they don't make them like this anymore ,complicated plot which holds you to the end

THANKS UPLOADER!!!!!!!!
Old movies all the time and some sitcoms. (Amazing facts.oeg)
Those very nice loungers or pajamas!!!!!!
Unfortunately the sound track in movies like this is very, very distracting. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this film, and there was so much suspense. I would never have been able to predict the ending.

Crazy plot🤪
Don’t know why they install doors on the driver side of cars, everyone uses the passenger side and just slides across.
lol..Maybe to keep the actors in frame.
Good idea for safety on busy streets. Noticed that also, but good idea.
Those nice bench seats. I wish they came back
Ive always wondered about that too!
In some areas, it's illegal to open the door onto the street. Ontario is like that.

Bear in mind that the 'stereotypes' back then were Reality, and that it is in modern times that the liberals take offense at all of it.

Riff Raff!!! Haven't heard That in awhile!!!
Gas attendant was stage door man in 40 naughty girls classic with Jackie Gleason 1935
Great movie. Its an Agatha Christie meets Boston Blackie type movie.
Great storyline.
Well that was a complicated story.
I wanted to watch it, but why music all the time.
I agree Teri. It ruined the movie.
So.....Arlen had it all figured out from the beginning......rather like Sherlock Holmes. Only in his dreams. Too bloody elaborate.
Veda borg, Ruff! Ruff!
Good thing this was only an hour long--dreadful! was it a noir detective story? A western? Just awful.
got sense
If you have trouble sleeping this movie might help. I enjoy film noir but this one was a stinker.
This wasn't a good movie.....but it wasnt bad either.. Confusion. Not Richard's style, for me.
Sept 2020🙂
Ongoing music used to cover lousy script. Used a lot on warner bros C movies to make it seem fast paced
I had to turn this off in the middle due to the music, I would have watched until the end otherwise.
Absolutely nonsensical!
It looks the location is the coral castle at the end.
i dont know why you people are saying this garbage is good
It’s great to see southern CA before it became a disgusting pig sty, even if it is a B movie.

Great story concept, but lame delivery in the beginning. Luckily I only lost five minutes and forty-six seconds of my life with it.

Actually the first 5 minutes was the best part. It got worse. I saw da whole ting.
