Takeshi is for Japan what Gong Li was for China cinema! while it lasted. I never watched this video, Yes he's beyond Gorgeous and Talented and his singing voice is great. But this song isn't the right vehicle for Kaneshiro-san. Sadly he quit acting over 8yrs ago. He doesnt want his Legacy tarnished by his age, i guess, He's the same Gen X like me. Unfortunately his earlier material is nearly impossible to find undubbed for western audiences if at all. He was far too picky with his roles. He did one film Returner with Takeshi Yamazaki who recently won an Academy award for best visual effects for Godzilla minus One. He's a very talented director who also did a very sentimental(makes me cry every time and im no cryer) series called its Always Sunset on 3rd Street. Kaneshiro couldve done so many more movies before retiring in his mid forties, and his later material he plays side character roles. not worthy to watch 5 mins of him in a 3hr live action film. Also he did Not do enough Parts in Japanese! Like a handful of parts. I get that he's fluent in multiple languages but he definitely was lazer focused on parts in Hong kong speaking Cantonese or Madarin, having a Taiwanese mom and Japanese dad. Takeshi-kun was and is super private now more than ever about his personal life which is fine, But why retire?! Maybe he only wants to be remembered as the handsome leading man, not play a dad or whatever. I get it. He was only doing one movie per year at age 30! by 2004 after House of Flying Daggers theatrical release bombed at the American box office. I think he was a bit crushed by it not being a financial success. I personally thought it was a great film Beautifully shot by zHang Zimou, who incidentally had a torrid Love affair with Gong Li when he directed her in Red Sorghum back in 1987! I definitely wish he did much more acting roles esp in Japanese where he sounds the best, esp in the weirdly sexy Sleepless Town, which feels like a precursor to Daggers film in their tragic endings. but different at the same time. He should try his hand at directing!!! Too bad Takeshi Kaneshiro is off the silver screen, he is so unique and versatile as an actor, I've admired him since I first saw him in Chungking express on VHs! Oh the mid to late '90s were a Blast! now past. I actually ordered a dvd recently, starring takeshi-kun, a tv series from overseas, its a Japanese role called Love 2000. Hoping its 11 wonderful episodes. Im even getting an all region blue ray to play the discs. Im desperate to see him in fresh stuff. Its odd this was my 1st time watching him sing and dance even if its a tad cringe. But my favorite asian actor Ever! I'll always love you as the gorgeous actor you once were
