  • Here's a Takamine acoustic electric bass that we use at my middle school. It has a serious bridge belly and poor neck set. I'm making my version of the JLD Bridge Dr. to correct some of the problems.

This is an excellent repair video. I did it on my bass ( same model with the same problem) and the result was super.

Thanks John. I'm so glad it work for you. I always seem to get the awkward repairs accross my bench. Check out the Yamaha arch top video I did. That was crazy! If you ever need anything don't hesitate to drop a line. Sincerely, Chris

Very nice Chris. Any idea where I could get one of those tensioning rods?

The specific tension rod I used for this contraption was a simple 1/4" threaded rod from the hardward store. I epoxied a wing nut to the end of it. If you're loking at buying something this this for your guitar then you can get the Bridge Dr. from www.stewmac.com. If that's what you're looking to do then make sure it will fit your guitar. That's why I had to make one for this bass. Thanks for your comments. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. ~Chris

Happy New Year Chris! I've got a Dean EABC5 with the same problem. Will this work with ply tops as well?

This video features a bass with a plywood top so, yes indeed!
