  • The Klinkhamer is a great all-purpose dry fly, and it makes a great dry in a dry/dropper rig. The new Semperfli Micro Glint Tinsel is an awesome way to speed up the tying of this fly, as well as give it a nice iridescent body.

Cool fly Hans. Just ordered a few colors of mico glint tinsel from your shop for nymph patterns and stumbled across this video on the website. Nice to be able to use the same material in different patterns. Win Win.

Looks good Hans. I tie something similar with hends #233. 👍

    Hi Hans,
First of all, congratulations for your excellent fly tying patterns, they are a reference for me. But I have a doubt, or rather, a question that has been haunting me for a long time about your dry fly patterns. I notice that you never, or almost never put ribs on them. And my question is, is it some technical reason or is it personal preference? Many fly tyers use the rib to add more security to the abdomen of their dry flies, especially when the abdomen uses certain more sensitive materials. In addition, the genus Ephemeroptera, in their natural appearance, have a ribbed body. Thanks in advance and, again, congratulations for your channel.

Hi Jorge- in most cases I don’t rib my dry flies because the flies I typically use are fairly small. I can see the benefit of ribbing flies that imitate larger species of mayflies or stoneflies. It would be interesting to try adding a rib smaller dry flies to see if it makes them more effective

Alright Hans, I'll be the dumb guy. What is the "plus" in Bone Dry Plus? Nice looking Klink variation.

Hi James, Bone Dry Plus is thinner than the original bone dry resin. Bone dry plus also stays liquid, whereas the original bone dry had a habit of getting thick and would have to be warmed up to go back into a liquid state. Bone dry plus is easy to apply right from the bottle with a fine nozzle.
