Bill Randall Statement still stands. The fashion in which Alan survived, his attitude, his groundedness, his perspective on life, his self insight, touched people in a way that was something to behold. He will always be my favorite survivalist.
Plus, he never tapped. Once he was the last man standing, they did a “check up” on him, but were really coming to deliver the good news and take him home. His response: “so soon?” He was expecting to be there all through spring. Who knows how long he actually would have stayed. Thank you Alan Kay for all the inspiration! ❤️

he's 6'6 and a near genius intellect. in his younger days he would be what the kids today call a "chad"

Tge guy seems extremely well read. All survival skills aside, that's one thing that really made me root for him as a person. He seems very intelligent.

I’m a huge fan of Alan after watching his success on season 1. Yeah, other seasons have had contestants last quite a bit longer but Alan was ready to keep going. His surprise that the contest was over “so soon?” “Already?” Was hilarious to see. Season 1 faced a challenge that the other seasons didn’t: the amount of rain and the cold were more intense than other seasons, and they didn’t have the benefit of seeing the challenges faced by prior contestants. You better believe that later contestants leaned on the experience of these people to determine their approach. The amount of rain in season 1 was ridiculous.

Just started watching in July 2020 - don’t need to mention current affairs. Alan is doing alright during this pandemic, no doubt. A lot of how he’s handling the wilderness and his isolation applies to 2020. Dude is a sage!!

I thankfully grew up without computers or cell phones as Alan did. 21 days in Outward Bound when I was a teen was amazing and life changing. Things are very different when you interact with the real world and face to face people on a daily basis instead of doing everything with social media and apps.

That's because its art. You are manipulating and adapting the tools to get a desired outcome of the metal.

On the last episode when you and your kids were walking to get mushrooms in the yard, your dog was tied outside by a doghouse. He or she was wanting to greet you so badly and you just ignored the poor thing. They were holding something in their mouth (like dogs do to show you how good they are) and wagging like crazy. Do you just leave that poor dog tied up back there all the time? A dog wants to be part of your family pack and be inside your home with the family pack. It just broke my heart to see that, as much as I enjoyed watching you on Alone, I was so disappointed to see that.

He definitely doesn’t just leave it tied up all of the time. He unties it for regular beatings and shouting insults at it.
