Great video! Can you not put the rig higher on the rope and stand on the edge then lower backwards standing instead of sitting on the edge?

Not the way the ropes are rigged here. If they were rigged at a high point it would be easier, but when your ropes are rigged at a hard 90 degrees, if you try and stand and lean back eventually you reach a point where the ropes don't support you and you drop uncontrolled.....That might not make sense until you see it, but you'll have to take my word for it (:

Very nice, thank you. A question; does the Asap not need 19 ft from the ground when fully deployed? If so, then would the tech not hit the ground before it arrested the fall. I only ask because, at one of the training centers, they only used a Duck unless you were more than 20 feet above the object, machine, or obstacle below. Just wondering. Thank you, Jim H. Hey Jim! That's definitely good practice. We always calculate clearance distance from worst case scenario, and accounting for FULL deployment of the shock pack....That said, if the ASAP is high, and the ropes are not long enough to stretch, an ASAP in Fall Factor .5 will get very little shock pack deployment (Especially with a single person load). Our solution is to ensure the ASAP sits at it's highest point when low to the ground. Excellent point though sir! Thanks for that.

@@Pacificropes I agree with what you said. Many folks do not understand what you just explained, and think the ASAP is the only device to be used for any and all fall arrest situations. Partial deployment and clearance to objects or the floor below are the key factors. Thank you, and always climb safely. Jim
