If your fingers are small enough, you might be able to start it in the lip on one side and carefully walk it in. Frankly, I think it's over, get another seal. What are you working on? I believe most any parts store would have a T5, C4 or AOD rear seal.
once installed, how do you put the spring back in if it comes out without replacing the whole seal? current situation and no one has the part :/

How do you remove a garter spring from a fuel line? I have never seen such a stupid design. How do you spend year working on poorly designed stuff?
+altlandf Why do you want to remove it? If you're trying to disconnect the fuel line, there's a special tool used to release it.
