Genuinely rewatching this at 0.25x speed so I could look at each frame. So much care and love was put into this animation it’s insane! The production value of friendlocke should never be underestimated.

Highly recommend watching it in slow-mo, there are so many cool little references I never would’ve noticed, like peppy having a picture of Sally’s legends arceus character and their shiny wurmple, or grunpilo having tire marks on him during the death sequence. Insanely cool work, looking forward to whatever is next.

I’ve been playing and watching nuzlockes for over a decade because it’s so engaging. it has a way of making you care about every Pokémon and see them as friends more than any game has natively been able to. And this series is easily my favorite. Bringing in real people and making actual characters allow for the stories and emotions to be built so much more and it’s lovely.

this animation is absolutely stunning, and while peppy was annoying at first we can see their development (and loss of annoying voice). the deaths in the ryme battle hit hard and i may just be sick and sad but this was truly a journey
If I had nickel for everytime Salty lost his water starter on their second evolution. I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s still weird it happened twice.
It'd take me too long to mention every little detail I loved, so I'll just go out and say that this was awesome! I love the Friendlocke Openings, and this one is the best by far! Can't wait to see Season 4!

Chrissy as Maushold and Claire as Blorpoido were the two character deaths that hit me the hardest because they were very interesting to me (Chrissy story arc went wild) THANK GOD VRISKA AND BRADY LIVED THO I LOVE EM. Vriskas commentary and over the top reactions were always a relief from all the other shit. And Brady just fukin carried so godamn hard like no wonder he has such a fine ass
Damn what a journey this was. This was the first time I was here for the entire friendlocke. I wanna say thank Salty, the cast, animators, editors, and any other roles I’m forgetting off the top of my head for making this incredible series. While I’d personally love to see a season 3.5 with the new DLC, I understand why y’all need to take a long deserved break.
I said this last time on the Season 2 Anime Intro, but I am such a sucker for rolling landscape shots with everyone doing a thing, so, along with the amazing music, 1:00 - 1:10 is my absolute favorite part of this. So many little things in it, like Gerbicycle running over Jayyyyyweed, Luke holding Christenes only to get bonked by Blorpoido, Cookie wearing their Never-Melt Ice, Pastey looking just, entirely out of it as he flops past, and hey, you even get to see 9 frames of Phil peeking out around a mountain! If I had to pick other favorites, 1:25 is cute to see Lark and Annihilape!Mykyie together (IDK if Annihilape's broken shackles are usually blue, but if not, it's a really cute nod to Mykyie's ties to Lark and how Mykyie had to effectively pick up the torch of "MC"), followed immediately by Luke and Sarah watching Cookie like the babysitters they were lol. 1:21 is a great genuine action shot (I think this was around the time Braidey took up the mantle of "Main Character" after both Mykyie and Luke got... unfortunate), 1:28 has exactly 5 frames of xKenBagelx noticing the giant hammer coming their way, 0:37 Sara consistently giving "autism creature" vibes before she evolves, 0:52 probably being the most intimidating I've ever seen someone draw Ryme, and, overall, the fact that the start and end are mirrors of each other. The beginning shows everyone before they met Peppy. Phil is still an egg, Luke is a lil guy prone to violence, Tarountula Vriska, KenBagel still being a lil Shroodle (love the lil detail in that shot of Jayyyyweed's hair/eyes/ears floating cuz ghost), and, of course, pompadorable little Quaxlark being carried by his loving father, Grimace. While the ending shows them at their "prime"(Pre-death, for most, except Mykyie who died and became Annihilape). Jayyyweed and Gerbicycle being friends; the aforementioned Mykyie and Lark as well as Cookie, Luke, and Sara; Mall Bingo being Grunpilo's closest (arguably only) friend & therapist (Also, side note, love her design this season. The heart motif slays me); Mykyie Jr. and Peppy Jr. playing in Braidy's mane now that Christene's evolved; Pastey still being an Extreme Omnivore and munching on one of Joe's bottles... I could go on but this is a wall of text as is All in all, I love this opening, as well as the Friendlocke as a whole. Can't wait to see your future endeavors, Derek, even if this is the end of friendlocke (For a while, at the very least.) EDIT: I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT TO MENTION THE MUSIC! Megumi is always so talented, and this song is amazing as always. Just like last season, you could have told me this was an actual OP for the Pokemon S/V anime and I'd have 100% believed you. And GOD it goes hard. As I said before, 1:00 is my favorite part, but it's incredible all around. Love seeing everyone put their all into this project!
Hey Salty, I absolutely loved the friendlocke, and these animations and songs are amazing! I think that a majority of your fans (along with myself) would enjoy an actual DnD campaign series on your channel. I think it would make for great content, considering the popularity the SaltyDkDan channel has gained from the 3 seasons of Frinedlocke. Also if you did this please make another anime intro/outro sequence, they feel about as legit as if a studio made them. Regardless, thank you for everything that you do to entertain us, it really means alot.
Man, this is incredible. I'm legit curious as to what sort of work goes into establishing designs for everybody- does it just catch on from fanart or input from the 'Mon's actor? This whole experience was incredible, massive props to everybody and all the hard work they've invested into such an entertaining epic.
Every Subtle Reference in the Pokemon Friendlocke S4 Anime Opening: 0:16 - The intro scene showcases every friendmon we will meet in the series. Take particular note of Lark who is being carried by Grimace. This is part of his backstory in the first episode in which he told us Grimace was his father 0:19 - The picture on Peppy's wall is of Derek when he got teleported back in time by God to... do something. It's from his Legends Arceus vid, go check it out. 0:26 - This sequence with Peppy and Lark shows character art of the friends we will meet along the way. A few seconds after, Mikey shows up which immediately coincides with Lark's death. This is because Mikey was the one who killed Lark before Derek captured him. 0:37 - In this shot, Pastey is actively eating lightbulbs whilst everyone else congratulates them. This is a reference to how in episode one, Pastey exhibits a tendency to eat lightbulbs and then proceeded to never bring it up ever again. 0:38 - This is a reference to how on the route to meeting Nemona, Derek encountered an Igglybuff who constantly followed him. That is until the igglybuff evaporated into thin air. 0:39 - Peppy is annoyed by all the dialogue these people say. The rotom phone has the name Cassiopeia on dial, whilst Penny is in the background on her phone (she's Cassiopeia). Arven's dad is a monitor on a robot body, eluding to the fact he's a robot the entire time and Arven's real dad was already dead. (Just some illustrated spoilers, nothing really exclusive to Friendlocke) 0:40 - Joe holds and twirls a bottle of olive oil. That is because in canon, Joe is an olive oil dealer, that's his business. 0:41 - The team is celebrating Lark's sweet 16 (levels). That is, before immediately cutting to Derek strangling Mikey for killing Lark specifically on his sweet 16 (Joe pours one out for him) 0:42 - Iono is a Twitch Streamer 0:43 - Never let bro cook again bruh💀 0:45 - Luke is starting a podcast with and definitely not levitating Brady using his psychic powers 0:46 - Lemonade. This moment is from when they decided to fight the herba mystica Urthworm 1:12 - Jayweed solo'd Kofu's team with bullet seed and the game conveniently crashed just before Derek could save (Kofu 100% reloaded the encounter to have a second shot) 1:13 - After Gerber and Jay's disastrous cook off, everyone is dead except funnily enough, Sara and Gerber. In the final rounds, Gerber told Sara to dig as he kills Ryme's remaining Pokemon. The cook somehow worked with the only net negative being Sara is still digging under the stage as they left the stadium without her. The scene after is of Da Cheff showing us how to properly cook unlike Gerber and Jay 1:15 - Cookie is an iPad baby and may only function in battle with the aid of baby sensory videos. The pineapple is my favorite. 1:16 - The aftermath of Grunpilo challenging a 15ft tall semitruck to a battle. Ken actually got a decent metronome in that fight. 1:17 - Luke after following Gerber's cooking advice (sacking himself to Skeledirge to save the rest of the team) wound up in an upstate farm in disney world florida (Cookie asked what happened to Uncle Luke as Joe and Gerber try to match their stories so the kid doesn't get trauma at such an early age. It ended up with the sentence above) 1:18 - Peppy made a sandwich using the spicy herba mystica with only ONE cucumber. The only person who thinks it's genuinely spicy is Peppy himself because he's white. 1:19 - After one fateful picnic, Peppy found a pokemon egg in the basket. What hatched (canonically) was a paradox suicune he named Phil. They collectively decided to release it and then 5 seconds later it got run over by a car. His face is now on the moon. Phil my beloved rip 1:21 - The hardest challenge Peppy has faced, a job interview. Puppy ^._.^ in the meanwhile, is absolutely enamoured with the GENDER character. 1:21 - How XkenbagelX died (2 metronomes turning into tackle and growl) 1:22 - Brady headbutted the shit outta that herba mystica powered paradox donphan as everyone else watches Huh? You actually got to the end of my list? You're either as invested in this as I am or you're actually interested in this shit. ....Well? The series ain't gonna watch itself, bucko. You might've gotten spoiled for a good chunk of it but there's still a LOT more to watch for yourself. Love that Annihilape got to be in there despite Mikey dying to that stupid squirrel before evolving. Annihilape is easily the best pokemon to come out of gen 9!

I can't even express how much this music makes me have the biggest smile on my fucking face, it feels like a celebration of Friendlocke as an entirety, and giving a sort've triumphant vibe, showing that despite hardships, a lovely and wonderful family has been born every season, and that warms my heart, even when it came to the Capitalist and Lark. I do admit I only have currently watched the anime and not the manga, but I still love this series with all my heart. I hope everyone apart of it had a wonderful time.

I just now realized that mostly starter has died during their mid stage: Lark(S3) and Sara(S1), but Jay(S2), despite it being a Randomizer, was the starter and didn't die in their mid stage surprisingly

Damn what a journey this was. This was the first time I was here for the entire friendlocke. I wanna say thank Salty, the cast, animators, editors, and any other roles I’m forgetting off the top of my head for making this incredible series. While I’d personally love to see a season 3.5 with the new DLC, I understand why y’all need to take a long deserved break.

I said this last time on the Season 2 Anime Intro, but I am such a sucker for rolling landscape shots with everyone doing a thing, so, along with the amazing music, 1:00 - 1:10 is my absolute favorite part of this. So many little things in it, like Gerbicycle running over Jayyyyyweed, Luke holding Christenes only to get bonked by Blorpoido, Cookie wearing their Never-Melt Ice, Pastey looking just, entirely out of it as he flops past, and hey, you even get to see 9 frames of Phil peeking out around a mountain!
If I had to pick other favorites, 1:25 is cute to see Lark and Annihilape!Mykyie together (IDK if Annihilape's broken shackles are usually blue, but if not, it's a really cute nod to Mykyie's ties to Lark and how Mykyie had to effectively pick up the torch of "MC"), followed immediately by Luke and Sarah watching Cookie like the babysitters they were lol. 1:21 is a great genuine action shot (I think this was around the time Braidey took up the mantle of "Main Character" after both Mykyie and Luke got... unfortunate), 1:28 has exactly 5 frames of xKenBagelx noticing the giant hammer coming their way, 0:37 Sara consistently giving "autism creature" vibes before she evolves, 0:52 probably being the most intimidating I've ever seen someone draw Ryme, and, overall, the fact that the start and end are mirrors of each other.
The beginning shows everyone before they met Peppy. Phil is still an egg, Luke is a lil guy prone to violence, Tarountula Vriska, KenBagel still being a lil Shroodle (love the lil detail in that shot of Jayyyyweed's hair/eyes/ears floating cuz ghost), and, of course, pompadorable little Quaxlark being carried by his loving father, Grimace.
While the ending shows them at their "prime"(Pre-death, for most, except Mykyie who died and became Annihilape). Jayyyweed and Gerbicycle being friends; the aforementioned Mykyie and Lark as well as Cookie, Luke, and Sara; Mall Bingo being Grunpilo's closest (arguably only) friend & therapist (Also, side note, love her design this season. The heart motif slays me); Mykyie Jr. and Peppy Jr. playing in Braidy's mane now that Christene's evolved; Pastey still being an Extreme Omnivore and munching on one of Joe's bottles... I could go on but this is a wall of text as is
All in all, I love this opening, as well as the Friendlocke as a whole. Can't wait to see your future endeavors, Derek, even if this is the end of friendlocke (For a while, at the very least.)
EDIT: I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT TO MENTION THE MUSIC! Megumi is always so talented, and this song is amazing as always. Just like last season, you could have told me this was an actual OP for the Pokemon S/V anime and I'd have 100% believed you. And GOD it goes hard. As I said before, 1:00 is my favorite part, but it's incredible all around. Love seeing everyone put their all into this project!

Hey Salty, I absolutely loved the friendlocke, and these animations and songs are amazing! I think that a majority of your fans (along with myself) would enjoy an actual DnD campaign series on your channel. I think it would make for great content, considering the popularity the SaltyDkDan channel has gained from the 3 seasons of Frinedlocke. Also if you did this please make another anime intro/outro sequence, they feel about as legit as if a studio made them. Regardless, thank you for everything that you do to entertain us, it really means alot.

This whole experience was incredible, massive props to everybody and all the hard work they've invested into such an entertaining epic.

Every Subtle Reference in the Pokemon Friendlocke S4 Anime Opening:
0:16 - The intro scene showcases every friendmon we will meet in the series. Take particular note of Lark who is being carried by Grimace. This is part of his backstory in the first episode in which he told us Grimace was his father
0:19 - The picture on Peppy's wall is of Derek when he got teleported back in time by God to... do something. It's from his Legends Arceus vid, go check it out.
0:26 - This sequence with Peppy and Lark shows character art of the friends we will meet along the way. A few seconds after, Mikey shows up which immediately coincides with Lark's death. This is because Mikey was the one who killed Lark before Derek captured him.
0:37 - In this shot, Pastey is actively eating lightbulbs whilst everyone else congratulates them. This is a reference to how in episode one, Pastey exhibits a tendency to eat lightbulbs and then proceeded to never bring it up ever again.
0:38 - This is a reference to how on the route to meeting Nemona, Derek encountered an Igglybuff who constantly followed him. That is until the igglybuff evaporated into thin air.
0:39 - Peppy is annoyed by all the dialogue these people say. The rotom phone has the name Cassiopeia on dial, whilst Penny is in the background on her phone (she's Cassiopeia). Arven's dad is a monitor on a robot body, eluding to the fact he's a robot the entire time and Arven's real dad was already dead. (Just some illustrated spoilers, nothing really exclusive to Friendlocke)
0:40 - Joe holds and twirls a bottle of olive oil. That is because in canon, Joe is an olive oil dealer, that's his business.
0:41 - The team is celebrating Lark's sweet 16 (levels). That is, before immediately cutting to Derek strangling Mikey for killing Lark specifically on his sweet 16 (Joe pours one out for him)

1:13 - After Gerber and Jay's disastrous cook off, everyone is dead except funnily enough, Sara and Gerber. In the final rounds, Gerber told Sara to dig as he kills Ryme's remaining Pokemon. The cook somehow worked with the only net negative being Sara is still digging under the stage as they left the stadium without her. The scene after is of Da Cheff showing us how to properly cook unlike Gerber and Jay
1:15 - Cookie is an iPad baby and may only function in battle with the aid of baby sensory videos. The pineapple is my favorite.
1:16 - The aftermath of Grunpilo challenging a 15ft tall semitruck to a battle. Ken actually got a decent metronome in that fight.
1:17 - Luke after following Gerber's cooking advice (sacking himself to Skeledirge to save the rest of the team) wound up in an upstate farm in disney world florida (Cookie asked what happened to Uncle Luke as Joe and Gerber try to match their stories so the kid doesn't get trauma at such an early age. It ended up with the sentence above)
1:18 - Peppy made a sandwich using the spicy herba mystica with only ONE cucumber. The only person who thinks it's genuinely spicy is Peppy himself because he's white.
1:19 - After one fateful picnic, Peppy found a pokemon egg in the basket. What hatched (canonically) was a paradox suicune he named Phil. They collectively decided to release it and then 5 seconds later it got run over by a car. His face is now on the moon. Phil my beloved rip
1:21 - The hardest challenge Peppy has faced, a job interview. Puppy ^._.^ in the meanwhile, is absolutely enamoured with the GENDER character.

when i saw Miykie was an Anihalape in this i thought they got an actual amazing team member, when i saw he died i thought they were gonna have him stay alive til he died as an anihalape because Primape dies to become Anihalape.

Love that Annihilape got to be in there despite Mikey dying to that stupid squirrel before evolving. Annihilape is easily the best pokemon to come out of gen 9!

I can't even express how much this music makes me have the biggest smile on my fucking face, it feels like a celebration of Friendlocke as an entirety, and giving a sort've triumphant vibe, showing that despite hardships, a lovely and wonderful family has been born every season, and that warms my heart, even when it came to the Capitalist and Lark. I do admit I only have currently watched the anime and not the manga, but I still love this series with all my heart. I hope everyone apart of it had a wonderful time.
