Sometimes we are so focused on the trees that we cannot see the forest . Individual episodes like the Olympics our butt symptoms of a much greater disease. it is clear we live in a post- Christian society. The salt , which is Christian morality , has clearly lost its savour . Weakened by disunity, it has given way to the enemy. Worse, the heresy of Schofieldism in the evangelical community has given aid and comfort to our enemies. I pray that their eyes would be opened. I pray for the unity of the church.

I agree that the things that provoke us are symptomatic of a greater problem, which is all the more reason we should be quick to listen and slow to speak. When we voice our outrage over everything without discernment, it undermines the credibility of our witness so that when we actually have something more thoughtful to say, it just seems like more chatter. There's a proverb (Ecc 6.11), "The more words you use, the less they mean." And another (Pr 17.28), "Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues." And another (Mt 7.6), "Don't throw your pearls to pigs." Lord, refine not only our affections, but our offenses.
I'm intrigued by your statement: "the heresy of Schofieldism in the evangelical community has given aid and comfort to our enemies." Say more.
