    Your video’s have improved significantly. Simple, focused on the content, with additional learning opportunities shown throughout, and background music that is supportive. It’s a relaxing learning experience. I look forward to more.

    Great video Creek. It reminded me of a little story I'll share if I might. I am seventy years old now and I live and was raised here in western Kentucky in Webster county. When I was young we kids would hear the old folks mention rabbit tobacco every once in a while and how they would smoke it when they were kids. Well, us being kids of ages around 8 to 10 years we learned how to make corn cob pipes. We had Barlow pocket knives at the age I was,I begged mine off my uncle Mutt. Yes that was his nickname, but to make a long story short we made our pipes and the rabbit tobacco we smoked turned out to be goldenrod. It didn't taste too bad and I'm still alive at 70 so I guess it' was all right. We kids by the way ,not being all that cultured as kids are today smoked a lot of grapevine too, but it will sure bite the tongue. I really enjoyed the video keep up the great work

    Creek, nothing like making me want to go out and experience the same. Never thought of making tea out of goldenrod; will have to try it next year. And what a great lesson for making the adjustable pot hanger. I do want to say also... your format for your videos is beautiful. The quietness, tranquility puts me right out there with you. Thank you.

    Thank you, Sir!
    Wonderful video.
    My kuksa and tiny spoon arrived and I went down on the Yellowstone, just a short walk from my house, and brewed some lapsang souchong and enjoyed the day.
    Love your vids and your experiences.

    I will have to keep an eye open for Goldenrod no idea if it grows up here in the north county..
    I am always looking for new natural tea's to try out to see if I like them or not.
    my fav right now is fireweed and its plentiful around here..

    • @willowhavenoutdoor
      @willowhavenoutdoor  3 года назад

      It definitely grows in the North Country. Cheers!

      Go on BONAP and look up the county maps to find species that grow in your county.
      CAUTION: at least one species of genus Solidago (goldenrod), Solidago odora (sweet goldenrod, aka anisescented goldenrod, aka fragrant goldenrod) was used by the Cherokee as an Abortifacient (something that induces abortions), but there are no reports that I've seen of any other Solidago species in the US being an Abortifacient, so it is important to identify species. Many people just say "goldenrod" and then give people advise on use, but goldenrod (Solidago) is a genus not a species.

    Hey Creek got a question. There are many species of golden rod and they are not easy to tell apart. Will they all make a tea that is safe to drink?
    Have always enjoyed your work. This is a great series. Thanks for all you do.
    Happy Holidays

    Does goldenrod need to dried before making tea? I made some from fresh harvested and didn't like the taste at all.

      No it doesn’t but I have found the flavor to be hit or miss depending on region and time of year. Thanks for watching.
