It's definitely fun to play around, but saying she powercreeps Mudrock despite the canyon of consistency between the two is indeed a grave mistake.

Mudrock's S2 auto and spammability is enough reason to prefer Mudrock everytime over Penance. But I'm pretty sure with Texas and Yato alt, miss-timing a durational skill will be much more forgiving because i can delete my mistakes right away with those two. I can finally say goodbye to those extra seconds i spent when clearing a stage just because someone's skill ended right before the last enemy enter their range and i need to wait longer for all that lame basic attack to finally kill it.

I'd say the deciding factor of Penance vs Mudrock investment is that Mud has her basic functionality at E1 while Penance NEEDS her E2 thorns trait to really get her snowball rolling
Combining Ch'en and Blemi sounds like a hilarious strategy to achieve maximum bonk uptime, much like how it can enable Mudrock to become a fidget spinner, so I'm very much looking forward to -spark- pull for her.

You can get very funky with her. Because her kit scales with HP or ATK, you can use horn or nian for either more damage or shield power. Especially nian since get an extra around 600hp + 1800 shields.

I guess Penance might be better for general content in very specific cases, but I think that she needing to last hit enemies makes her more difficult to put into actual teams, since in those cases other operators would potentially kill the enemies and not her. The way I would phrase it is probably along the lines of "Mudrock is better in general or story content, but Penance is better in challenge runs, like low OP clears, or maybe Hell stages".

i originally got to mad for getting penance becuase i wanted to get rosmontis on the texalter banner. now that i think and look at the video, she is a pretty tough cookie to deal with, especially for annhilation. i actually got mad for getting her for the dumbest reason ever: because she was a juggurnaught and couldnt be healed by medics but i only recently found out that juggurnaught defenders make up for the unability to heal with their talents
1 big advantage penance has over mudrock is you can support her a lot more. she benefits more from damage buffs and sp batterys since her s3 can just be spamed to build up her shield mud only relly benefits from constant buffs unles you use her s3 but that can be akward to time because she becomes invulnerable
