It’s the nicest seller I’ve seen yet you guys did a great job
Thank you that is kind of you!
We hang the bacon and stuff in the closet. Sometimes I put them in an airtight closet in our basement. It’s a lot cooler down there.
Outstanding. Love to see young folks working and building for their future.👍
You know what is great about being such an old man like me? Being able to watch all the young'uns work, and not feeling guilty about it. _(Plus being then able to give all that "mansplain" advice.)_ 😁😇
Ps. If later that flat stick roof gives you problems, you have two options.
1) Replace the plywood with 1-1/2 planks. _(A bit more structural stability, and able to carry more weight.)_ Your present has about a 40lb psf live-load. Planking will bring it up to about 60lbs.
2) Change to a 12 degree hip roof _(of course sheathing of 1-1/2in planks and 2x12in rafters, and a concrete & rebar ring-anchor at top of walls),_ then cover back up with dirt. That should bring you up to about a 100 pfs...roughly 140 psf with 4x12in rafters.
3) But, you're still looking at rot lessening that roof down to about 75 to 100 years. _(It is in part; above frost level.)_ 🤓
Great job!!! On your root cellar, and Great job documenting it all for others to enjoy!!
Thanks!
Nice project. I’m curious about the ventilation system. How and why you did it the way you did.
Now you know why it was the only mount on your property 😊 , nice job on the root cellar, how has it been working out so far in the winter ?
Haha! So true! Hadn’t realized that, you are probably right!
Love it.
Thanks for checking it out!
Subscribed!!! Just found your channel. I look forward to binge watching all your episodes and your future ones too. Nice build and theres nothing wrong with a “good enough” build! If it works, it’s not wrong.
Thanks for the encouragement and It’s great to have you!
The root cellar looks great! Shelves will be a good addition.
Thank you! I am excited for shelves also.
You will be rewarded for your hard work. Enjoy the new tractor.
Thank you! The tractor is already so nice to have. Can’t wait till next growing season!
Your hard work really paid off. You will get so much use out it, come next growing season.
Do you think you might add a cover over the entrance, might be a chore to shovel four foot of snow in the middle of winter?
Wishing you folks a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May your gardens produce bumper crops next season.
Snowing hard here in south central Washington state tonight.
Hi! Yes we’ve thought about adding a roof over the entrance. We might, I’m not sure yet. We do want to touch up the dirt work and get some grass growing on the top in the future. So there is still some finishing work to do.
Merry Christmas to you also! Hope you have a great year ahead!!!
Very cool project and video!
Thanks!
Awesome build!
Thank you!
HI FROM WOY WOY SYD AUST 24/25
Does the top have to be covered with dirt or could you have built it into a shed/tiny house maybe on the top?
We did think about that and that could have been a great idea, but we didn’t want to worry about heating the shed as it gets pretty cold here in the winter.
Get some things that go on your house exhaust pipe pipe boots for I don't know exactly what they call them what is a rubber thing you slide down over it with a flashing on it
Oh no, garbage! I found a lot on my friends new place, it took hours and hours to clean it up illegal dumping.
