Nice! I switched to Rodent Pro a few months ago for my hognose, BCI, two ball pythons, MBK, and spotted python. Their rodents are not only cheaper, but look way healthier than the ones available from the reptile shops near me.
I forgot that it’s Tuesday morning, for me, when your videos are uploaded and I was sleeping when this one dropped. I have 45 minutes before I need to get up, so, I’m cosy in my bed, cat on either side of me, I can hear the rain hitting the windows and it’s a perfect time to learn about reptiles! Thank you, Joe.
I actually do feed pinkies to my bearded dragon (only like once a month I promise you) so this is so good to know! They can be very pricy at big box Pet Stores!
I loved this video! I don't live near a pet store and I hadn't looked too far into this option. Now that I know it's even more economical, it makes me really happy because getting a snake again just got a lot more realistic! Thank you!
I am so glad this video helped! helping more people get into snakes and helping people hold onto their snakes that are expensive to feed were my two big goals for this video so your comment just made my morning! Thanks for watching. 🐍
Not to mention pet store things could be bad. During Covid the person I get bugs from for my beardies passed away. So I had to go to pet smart after a week of feeding them 2/3 of my dragons started having seizures and passed away.
I'm in south africa I have 2 corn snakes. They eat fuzzies and adult mice. I order online and for same day delivery it's ZAR 150. And the mice are ZAR 200 total R350 per month or $22
Wayyyy cheaper to go to an expo monthly and buy a live, or frozen mice for $1.25 , or $3 for live or frozen jumbo rat... The stuff I've bought from "online" places, are so Freezer burnt, it's pathetic, they have no eyeballs, and are half petrified... Or its are so disgusting when there unthawed.. The rotten things stink like they've been in the sun for a month, you gag throwing them outside... So yeah, go to an expo monthly.......
We only have one corn snake so the price of food isn’t too high. We are also fortunate to have several reptile stores in our area. We buy frozen mice locally at the reptile stores where they are cheaper than at the regular pet stores. Online ordering is a good option.
Great choice to replace a washing mashine 🤣 also random info but, one way to prevent roaches in your house ext is to make sure you run your dish washer at least once a month as it does have standing water that attracts insects and rodents. My friend told me this lol she works in pest control
He threw me off calling it a washing machine too, it literally took me until he said they don't generate much dishes to figure out that it was actually a dishwasher. 😂 Your friend is correct, but didn't he say it had been broken since before they moved in? So running it once a month wouldn't be possible, but I would've at least had them bring a shop vac to get any standing water out of there, for roach prevention as well as mildew and bacteria.
My adult boas eat 1-4 times a yr. Cheaper for me to find someone local or pickup when im already at an expo than it is to buy 6 months worth online. As for my frog eaters i just catch frogs as needed.
Wow, It's hard for me to imagine Cleo on that feeding schedule but she is probably closer to being ready for it than I think. She is pretty good at letting me know when she's hungry for now though... I was curious do you feed the frogs live or do you freeze them or do anything else to help with risk of disease? I and some other friends have run into issues with feeding local caught rodents to captive rattlesnakes. I don't have any frog eaters so I wasn't sure what the process might be.
For some species its risk of parasites vs feeding an animal what its not designed to eat. I freeze them but not to rid of parasites. Not sure how well that works for species adapted to cold climates. I think the parasite issue is over thought. Id venture to say that most captive animals have some lvl of parasitic load. And store bought crickets are absolutely loaded with them. I've spoken to a variety of vets specializing in everything from chickens to deer to herps and all have said it's about keeping the load low. As for feeding snakes with slow metabolisms if you dont feed your snake for 6 months and then evaluate its body condition. I guarantee a healthy sub adult to adult bp/red tail/burm/ etc will still have immaculate condition. I don't feed large food items. M to L rats.
I started breeding my own rodents once I got the second snake. Now i have 8 and just figured out what I would pay each month is well worth the cleaning and time put into them
Almost forgot to add my request for an El video, please 🙏, please 🙏, please 🙏! Did you hatch her or did you get her as a juvenile or as an adult? How long have you had her? What’s their life span in the wild vs in captivity? Favourite foods? Average size and weight? Any cool tegu facts etc? I think it would be au awesome subject for a video and El is very popular in your short videos, not to mention incredibly cute! 🦖 🦎
I'm feeding a green tree python, ball python, and a kenyan sand boa. Fortunately, I live near one of the big online frozen rodent suppliers so, if I plan appropriately, I can skip the shipping fees and pick up from their distribution center. 😁
I've been buying online but paying close to $2 each for mice. (I'm going to check out Rodent Pro.) I buy 50 at a time for my snake and vacuum seal them in individual bags. They last a year or more depending on how awake he is during the winter. I don't brumate him but he slows down and sleeps more during the winter. Thanks for the info!
@@herpinhippie Hognose are the best! They are so cute. I guess I better stop wasting mice on my "big" male though. Since he only wants to eat every other time I feed him 🙄
Is it though? When you total up the cost of bedding and food for the rodents. I'm not sure it's really better. Not to mention they stink, take up space, and you have to spend time cleaning them a lot!
I've known people that did it and the sanctuary I worked for used to do it. I think if I ever have a house with more space I might give it a try but I am pretty limited on space at the moment.
I was a little confused as to how you and your wife managed without a washing machine in your home as you need to wash your clothes, until I realised it was a dishwasher! 🤣
A lot of people manage without a washing machine in their home, that's why there's laundry mats, I was more concerned with why the washing machine was under the kitchen counter🤦🏾 I giggled when I realized that he meant a dish washer 😂
I only have one snake but even then I still order in bulk. I was lucky enough to get my first bag of fuzzies at a reptile expo but going forward I'll order online if that's not possible. I spend more on bugs for my tokay 😊 great video as always!
Wait a minute! Did you say you could get the freezer for free? Credit card hacking has me intrigued and I would definitely like to find out more about it.
I don’t have any reptiles and never plan to, but I found this video interesting.

love the vids bro
Thanks, I really appreciate that!

That's the way to do it for sure thanks for the video👍

I'd love to hear more regarding people ''farming and euthanasia'' if you'd Want to self sufficient with the feed
It's about $6 for 10 adult mice in south africa
I have two Girdled Lizards, a Ball Python, numerous frogs and toads, and I'm looking to get some Tailless Whip Scorpions.

I have been using rodent pro for the past 8 months now and couldn’t be any happier. If you want to save I would buy feeders online.

Id never feed wild caught rodents. Poison bate is absolutely everywhere.

Washing machine. Sir that is a dishwasher. 🧐😆 sorry if it’s an area thing but when I hear washing machine I think of the clothes variety lol
Oh no. 😅 Is this going to be like when my wife laughs at me for calling the TV remote “the clicker”? 😂

Would you ever consider raising your own roadents?
If I ever had the space for them I think I would like to, but I would have to keep my wife from naming them. 😂
