Can you elaborate a bit on the planting depth of the graft union? Why below the soil line?

I know that for cold zones- it helps the roses stay insulated but in hot zones 8-10 it is not necessary.

HI there. I"m in Zone 6a, US Kansas City. I received two of my DA orders (8 bare root roses total) last week when snow was still on the ground. I soaked them for several hours and then heeled them in a tub of organic potting soil in my garage. When can I plant them out? Some are showing new growth and I am worried it's too soon to plant out. Our last frost is April 17. Thank you!!

Good afternoon, thank you for contacting us. I'm so sorry to hear that you've experienced poor weather recently. I can confirm that roses can be planted all year round as long as the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged. So as long as a shovel can get into the soil it's absolutely fine to plant roses, even in the snow! I hope this helps. :)

Hello, sir. What is the purpose of burying the bud union? Does climate and planting zone dictate whether to plant it with the union exposed or not? Thank you, sir.

Good afternoon Jacquie, we generally recommend moving roses between the months of November and February as they're dormant at that time. Roses can certainly be replanted outside of that period however it does come at a slightly greater risk. I hope this helps! :)

I bought a bare root Royal William rose in July last year, it was doing ok until last winter when it died. Can I remove it and plant another rose in the same spot? I believe it died because of the hard winter
