Totally agree, actual vintage watches are a bit too fussy for me, but I really like to see quality reissues that are improved by newer technology while staying true to the original design concept. Feels like there are probably a ton of vintage ideas that were not able to be fully executed with the available tech of the time that might actually be much better if made today.
I disagree. The fact that a 40+ year old perfectly working vintage digital is a testament tonthe technology used back in the day. Todays modern electronics are disposable, in that the expected lifetimes are around 10-15 years. These reissue watches will undoubtedly be thrown out and forgotten unlike thier vintage siblings. Cheers.
Thanks for reviewing this, I have had my eye on this since it was announced. I think the push to display is a deal breaker for me, but I understand the battery life restriction. I will have to sleep on it haha!
Well, clearly I'm old too...I still remember all those games and the other electronics (commodore 64!). My first watch was an inexpensive LED--Texas Instruments. The watch is definitely so cool in it's retro vibe; I love it, just not sure it would get much wrist time. Thanks for the trip back in time!
I still remember getting my first digital watch in 1977, I was 12 years old and I wanted one so bad. The other kids had them. I think it was a Timex. I had to push the button for the time and then again for the day and date. It was red LEDs. And it was a battery killer for sure. I think that Bulova watch is way overpriced for something so simple. You can get some decent Seiko watches for that price. It is a novelty watch. Thanks for sharing.
I remember this in the 70s. I believe it came out the same time Texas Instrument came out with their LED digital watch. My friends dad had one and one day I showed him my Texas Instrument digital watch for $6.00. In turn he showed me his black Bulova Computron watch. How much he got it for back then I don’t have a clue.
Yes Rob, those games were Coleco Head to Head baseball and football. I had the baseball one too, the game was shaped like a stadium and had buttons covered on the 1st base side and the 3rd base side for each player.
It has nothing to do with innovative technology , maybe in the past , but not this Reissue, it's an Hommage on the Original Computron from the 70`s, not meant to be a Game Changer .
You deserve much more subs. Always something different. These were high style in the 70's. Only red leds. Prefer my Accutron, no buttons always exact time half the year. Smooth seconds.
The whole reason for the angle of the display is so you can keep one hand on the wheel while driving. LED watches kill the battery quick, so you have to do the push to see function. Push with right hand, left hand doesn't need to twist around to see the display.
Ah, the old '80's LED handheld games. I had one of those simple red LED games; I can't remember the name, but it was some kind of submarine hunt. You were the destroyer, and you mostly had guess where the sub was. Memories...
Cool watch looks very retro👍😎 I remember the original LED digital watches around 1980/late 1970s, they were all display off, push button to show time, the tech is very power hungry and I seem to remember the batteries didn't last very long! LCD display technology quickly took over, which was more suited to constant display on👍😎
Atari made some great games in the early 80's. That Bulova watch was ugly in the 70's and still is but that doesn't mean it's not cool. Thanks for the review. I'll stick with the G shock square though for the vintage 80's look.
Now we are talking Bobby... This is a beast. Although I don't trust Bulova's, my Accutron quartz movement failed. The black one with the red might be something Darth Vardar might wear lol
Neat, but It would be nice to have the digital number stripes made from OLED nodes, so that they can be lit up continuously instead of needing a button. They could have added a solar panel (maybe masked, like Citizen does their dials with invisible solar panels) on that huge top surface.
This definitely seems like a missed opportunity for Bulova, especially since they're now owned by Citizen (or both are owned by the same company) so sharing the Eco-Drive tech between the two brands would seem a no-brainer. And, as you say, there's all that real estate on the top surface which would be perfect for a solar panel.
Thank you for sharing this with us Nate. This is just an insane look watching...I was shocked that it is a new release. Thank you for a great review Rob :)
Most people will use the clock in their car. I have an original rarely use it you need two hands. Yes the ones from the 70s are crude, if you have the extra money the black one is really sharp looking. I may still get one of this, if the wife doesn't mind too much.
I just wish they would have put something in it like Fitbits, where an intentional flip of the wrist activates it. That would make it perfect (other than the non-realistic always on option).
Going to add one of these into my collection, I'm going through a weird and quirky phase, but first on the list is a Hamilton Ventura, I recently got the Ventura Elvis80 auto and I want a original design one to pair with it. After that it's a computron
I can tell you from experience that the original was a good build watch too. But you'd should have gotten the gold/Red version to be true to the original!
Great review! Thanks! Question: You said that to view the display you need to push the button on the right-side of the case. I agree. However, I do remember back in the 1970's that some of these watches would activate their displays if you flicked your wrist in a certain way. So, if you were to quickly rotate your wrist toward you - like you were quickly turning a dial to the right, in kind of a snapping motion, this would turn on the display just as if you had pushed the button. The display would stay illuminated for the same period of time as if you had pushed the button. Have you tried this? Does this watch do that? Thanks!
I had those Mattel games too - baseball and football and my cousin Bryan had the basketball,. Why did ya have to do this to me? Now I want one wish it had a red display with silver case. Very cool.
Bulova has been doing some cool throwbacks. Super cudo's with that Astronaut 96B258 and Bulovas rip off of the Omega Speedmaster with their 96B272, Both of which are on my short list to buy LOL!! I see you Bulova Its cool though! With that badass quartz.............p something.............. Precisionist you put in that sucker, kinda makes up for it.....+ or - 10 seconds a year, have mercy baby boy LOL!! Thats alright cause Seiko did their little ole AHEEM....Tribute to the ole 3570.50 HA HA THAT'S RIGHT!! And Hamilton with their Ventura, Which I have the anniversary edition of and is GREAT!! HAMILTON!!!! LISTEN UP!! Re-release the Altair HINT HINT LOL!!!
It's basically a smart watch in theatre mode. The unit needs to be manually activated, where motion activation is disabled. This is a collection watch for sure, but just not my thing.
I bought one and gold with the red LED lights and I love it and I'll tell you it is the most extravagant thing I've ever worn on my wrist LOL
Now I feel like I need to watch an episode of the original Battlestar Galactica TV series.

my first digital watch in the late 70s was an LED which was not a constant display. That was actually pretty normal for the day.
Isn't that what Apple watches do today? :)
yep, me too
Thanks for reviewing this, I have had my eye on this since it was announced. I think the push to display is a deal breaker for me, but I understand the battery life restriction. I will have to sleep on it haha!
I can see where that can be a deal breaker for many. It’s still super cool, but having to push a button ties up both hands.
Instant buy if I had the funds, but I wouldn't wear it very often. Maybe out to dinner or occasionally to work. Definitely not a beater!
its a total pooper.

Boooo lol...amiga 500 ruled😅
I love that retro futuristic style
Finally got to figure out what that was. Seen it laying there in all your recent videos. Super retro very cool
Love mine!👍 It's super retro cool! It came the same week with my Q Timex!😄👍
where did you get it?
I still remember getting my first digital watch in 1977, I was 12 years old and I wanted one so bad. The other kids had them. I think it was a Timex. It was a texas instruments probably
Will buy this one definitely.... too many memories!
I remember this in the 70s. I believe it came out the same time Texas Instrument came out with their LED digital watch.

This is very cool I like the black version it brings back memory’s. And no your not old I graduated in 1980
Yes Rob, those games were Coleco Head to Head baseball and football. I had the baseball one too, the game was shaped like a stadium and had buttons covered on the 1st base side and the 3rd base side for each player.
Yes! Old school fun
Oh man I remember those electronic sports games. Good trip down memory lane.
Now that is a very cool watch! I have the Hamilton PSR so I definitely need this.
Retro cool, but a bit impractical for my tastes. Bulova was a very innovative company. I love their early Accuquartz/Accutron models. Great review!
This is a vintage reissue, tries to be faithful to the original?
It has nothing to do with innovative technology , maybe in the past , but not this Reissue, it's an Hommage on the Original Computron from the 70`s, not meant to be a Game Changer .
Love this watch. I've been thinking of getting one to go with my Bulova devil diver reissue.
You deserve much more subs. Always something different. These were high style in the 70's. Only red leds. Prefer my Accutron, no buttons always exact time half the year. Smooth seconds.
Thanks. Really don’t want the channel to grow much or too fast. My day job keeps me busy so it’s already more then I can handle.
This and the new redone pulsar are def on my list
Very good for broke the ice in summer season
The whole reason for the angle of the display is so you can keep one hand on the wheel while driving. LED watches kill the battery quick, so you have to do the push to see function. Push with right hand, left hand doesn't need to twist around to see the display.

Just love it man !!! Ty for the early review, great job !
Pretty cool watch. It's a bit pricy for something that I would classify as a fun watch. And not having an always on display is a deal breaker.

Awesome watch
The official watch of the Star Wars universe!
that watch is off the chain
Atari made some great games in the early 80's. That Bulova watch was ugly in the 70's and still is but that doesn't mean it's not cool. Thanks for the review. I'll stick with the G shock square though for the vintage 80's look.
Bingo. It’s the pug of the watches. Lol
Reminds me of the back to the future Flux capacitor watch I bought a few years ago. Very heavy too.
On a steering wheel I don't know, but on handlebars it sure would be perfect with constant display.
Groovy lol always great reviews no matter what the watch is.🤙
Thanks much.
.Plenty of originals for sale around the same price .Still going after 43 years so couldn't have been too shabby back in76
Now we are talking Bobby...
This is a beast.
Although I don't trust Bulova's, my Accutron quartz movement failed.
The black one with the red might be something Darth Vardar might wear lol
don't know why, but I like that... in fact its cool, I'd wear it to a Redbar event.
Yes! Redbar Watch. Lol
@@RandomRobReviews I've only been to Redbar London, UK... is good 👍🏼

I never knew I needed another watch until I seen your vid
Constant display would have been amazing.
I would wear it everyday
it would look even better with black strap? can you share one with black strap?
First quartz watch I’ve ever wanted
The case is 31mm by 40mm, it should look tiny but it doesn't seem to??
I don’t know what it is about that watch but it reminds me of Battlestar Galactica. The old 70’s show...
I like the recessed helium release valve on the side. Haha.
looks amazing
I Dig it ! Lol! Very Retro cool and Fun watch Rob! Thanks
Thank you for sharing this with us Nate. This is just an insane look watching...I was shocked that it is a new release. Thank you for a great review Rob :)
Yes, I had a Battlestar Galactica game like that, so this reminds me of those original Cylons right?
I had that baseball game, it could be 2 player. I think it was Coleco head to head baseball, and football.
Most people will use the clock in their car. I have an original rarely use it you need two hands. Yes the ones from the 70s are crude, if you have the extra money the black one is really sharp looking. I may still get one of this, if the wife doesn't mind too much.
I believe the games you were referring to were made by Coleco.
Back in the day, Mattel made very popular handheld games for football, baseball and basketball. I can still recall the sounds they made.
I just wish they would have put something in it like Fitbits, where an intentional flip of the wrist activates it. That would make it perfect (other than the non-realistic always on option).
Great piece...and i bet every year battery replacement.
I am guessing every year as well
Going to add one of these into my collection, I'm going through a weird and quirky phase, but first on the list is a Hamilton Ventura, I recently got the Ventura Elvis80 auto and I want a original design one to pair with it. After that it's a computron
Nice video, where can you get a replacement battery cover, any help greatly appreciated 🙏

@@RandomRobReviews thank you 😊
Cool piece Rob. Very retro.
Oh hell yes! Just awesome. LOVE IT!
Didn’t I see this on the “Jetsons”! Futuristic vintage!
wish there was a low light mode where you can see the time at all times, I hate having to press something to see the time, totally loses the purpose
Very cool indeed.
I can tell you from experience that the original was a good build watch too. But you'd should have gotten the gold/Red version to be true to the original!
I think you’re thinking of Tiger Electronic handheld games

Ha ha ha! Yes. That I recall.
Hey Rob, you ain't that old. Try 1952? Anyway, I like that quirky watch!! LOVE your G-Shock...
I had those Mattel games too - baseball and football and my cousin Bryan had the basketball,. Why did ya have to do this to me? Now I want one wish it had a red display with silver case. Very cool.
Nice review...What about the time accuracy? Do you try afer 1 day and after 1 week? Thanks
Beautiful watch but you have to use your two hands to watch the time
Cool watch.. i would get it, but i have several more i want first
Hello Rob.How much money was this watch, when you bought it?It's a cool design 70-s,80-s year's!
that thing is awesome I have to get one
can you set the led light always on?
I like new shiny things. Agree man. I'd rather create my own patina.
It's cool, but it looks like I would bang that on every door jam and corner in my house lol.
Hello Rob, any link to Nate instagram page? Would like to see that collection.
Nice..i.like it a lot
How do I adjust the clasp?
Cool but i would not buy it.
Kool, I want to buy one now...at first thought it was something from Hong Kong... surprised Bulova made it...thanks for showcasing it...
Где купить то ? Запакуйте 2 штуки !
I wish they show time all the time. Now its more of a bracelet. I still would like to have them but no for 300 euros which is the price now.
Robocop would like this :)
Id buy that for a dollar 💰

They were like called tiger games or something it but yes I do pretty awesome that Pitfall and of course all the sports
They could've done something interesting with the blank top part of the watch.
Pretty quirky cool watch .
Conversation piece
Not a everyday watch. The battery life is not withstanding of everyday wear.
I really want the gold one but these look too bulky for me. Damn I'm bummed
Maybe oben need bulova Cook logo and best i think
The movement is made in swiss?
BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Thats the best we can come up with in 2019!!!! WTF?????
Fabric gloves, dude ! Who need your fingerprints and nails close-up ?
You like, it’s ok bro
Good review, but that thing is hideous. lol
It's basically a smart watch in theatre mode. The unit needs to be manually activated, where motion activation is disabled. This is a collection watch for sure, but just not my thing.
Night watch.
Diesel dz7111 It was produced in 2004.... This old idea!
Bulova Computron was made in 1976! This is a Re-Edition. Diesel founded in 1978.
No wrist shot?!
At 2:45 there is wrist shot.
great, anyone saw one of these in black??
The commodore from the 70's were the first to make that watch
