The guys begin their late season hunt in North Dakota this past weekend. We decided to take an in depth look at "Camp Dinkota" and the deer camp lifestyle.
A month before the season opened our hunting club would get together at camp to do maintenance. Blinds would be repaired or moved. Shooting lanes would be cleared. Feeders would be filled. Camp shack would get upgraded or repaired. Preseason scouting needed to verify trails still being used and to check trail cams. But, back at camp every night was just as it was during the season, but without the tales of the ones we shot or shot at that day!
The footage from stand most guys post, and call it deer camp, are not deer camp. I love a hunting video, as much as the next guy, but, camp life is separate from the woods. That's where the draw is. Camp. Great vid!
A real camp has no running water, electricity or television. Just a propane stove, wood furnace, radio, lots of beer, and a bunk room, and lots of antlers on the wall.
deer camp is probably my favorite part. We eat like kings and play cards and drink all night.
