Inside the Last Divided Capital | Nicosia, Cyprus

Exploring Nicosia, Cyprus - the last divided capital city in the world. The island nation of Cyprus is split into two parts, North and South. South Cyprus is predominantly Greek Cypriots and North Cyprus is Turkish. And there is a third section called the UN Buffer Zone that divides the nation. In the capital city of Nicosia you can cross this buffer zone on foot as a pedestrian. But in order to cross you have to go through border security and show your passport.
So I decided to walk around Greek Cyprus and then cross the pedestrian border on Ledra street into Turkish Cyprus. I found both sides to have very distinct characteristics. They even use different language and currency despite being on the same island! It's very unique and I'm glad I experienced both sides. I hope you enjoy walking in the last divided capital city in the world.
