i found yemon because of one million power, ive felt very lonely because i realized that people who arent japanese really talked about yemon (or atleast from what ive observed).. so i really appreciate this video format! ill look frward to new vides

I never did end up getting the Punch Drunkard shirt, but I do have a vintage "Fix the Sicks" and a Shock Hearts one that will certainly be making their debut in future videos!
It really warms me to see people celebrating this band. The Yellow Monkey came to me during an extremely difficult time in my life, I don’t want to say “they saved my life” or anything like that out loud for fear of sounding over dramatic, but their music and story became a real source of strength for me… so, thank you so much for spreading the word! Your blog was and still is an invaluable resource as a fan who discovered them somewhat recently, the work you’ve put into making their story accessible to an English audience is truly phenomenal and very much appreciated!!!

This music review is probably the closest information I'll ever get about the Yellow Monkey. I rarely found an english speaker talking about them, mostly because Japanese band are popular overseas through anime song and for them it was years ago with Tactics from Samurai X ed that introduces me to their song along with Holy Sea and Sunshine.
It's true that they don't have nearly as many western fans as they should! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! There will definitely be more videos to come about them, since they're my favorite band!

私は日本人です。私は逆にイエモンから洋楽ロックに目覚め、彼等のルーツを巡る音楽の旅に出ました。彼等自身が本当に多くの音楽をルーツに持つのでファンの我々も多くを吸収したり出会ったりする事ができます。このチャンネルそうですね！
吉井イズムのユニークな表現の原点には歌謡曲は勿論、日本のコメディアン「ドリフターズ」もあります。過去には何かのインタビューでデヴィッド・ボウイの「change」をあげて、歌詞の中の「ch ch ch chang」のところを日本語だと「かっかっかっ変わるんだー」って歌っているようなものと解釈して歌詞で遊ぶ事を学んだと過去の雑誌で語っていました。

英語というよりは、そのサウンドとリズムの探究の為だと思います。イエモンに出会うまでにビートルズやカーペンターズなんかをたまに聴いていましたが、ハマって聴くという感じではなかったです。
デヴィッド・ボウイの中に隠されたイエモンを探しているうちにすっかりと洋楽のハマり、結果「オルタナティブロック」の深淵なる旅路となりました。
吉井さんからは洋楽だけでなく、邦楽の素晴らしさにも触れる事ができます。
@@HT-uk2ey おもしろいことに、私が高校生だった頃に「オルタナティブ・ロック」が流行っていたので、よく覚えています。とても昔のことですが、とても興味深い時代でした。これまで考えたことはなかったけれど、当時その場にいなかった人が同じような旅をしているのを知って嬉しいです。それが良いことか悪いことかは別としてね!

「ラプソディー」のレビューは，あの曲を（もちろん大好きですが）あそこまで真剣に分析する姿に笑ってしまいましたが。（言っていることは納得！）「もっかい×10」は，語感的に可笑しくて，くすぐったくて，気持ちよくて，なんともたまらんラインで，アルバム屈指の「やられた感」がありました。
「9999」も素晴らしいアルバムでしたが，幾分コンピレーションアルバムのような，アルバムとしての文脈の希薄さが感じられました。シングル集のような。そして多くの人が期待している「イエローモンキー像」のようなものに寄り過ぎた印象もありました。なので「SparcleX」は「8」以来の帰ってきた感がありました。まさに「Surprise Me！」に答えてくれる名盤だと私も感じました！
