I have been talking about this for a while now. This whole notion of a “game changing” number 9 is wrong.
Havertz has proven he is a threat that occupies and I’m sorry but even bullies defenders in the Prem when he is at his current finest.
What we need is to add more threats to this team. Our whole left side has been dull this season and if we remove the efficiency of Trossard, I don’t know if we’re even scoring more than 10 goals from that end this whole season. How much more does he get if he actually has an 8 and a left back that can pose an actual threat ?
We obviously have a right side bias, and the way that Havertz operates the raumneuner (that’s what I’m calling his position from now on) I really don’t think 100m+ should be going for a new 9. Maybe buy a project - a kid. But the left 8, the left wing and the Saka cover are far more needed. We need a 6 as well - Partey is not reliable.
A nine that gives close to 20 GA a season cannot be seen as a critical problem right now. We desperately need to unlock the left side.
Objectively jesus has been doing a really good 12th man role in recent weeks. Coming on with intensity and making assists for others to score. Jesus has been performing in his 12th man role. Similar to trossard cameos at the start of the season.
Trossard is an absolute gangster! Guy comes in from Brighton for £30m and drops GA everytime he plays. Remember, everyone wanted Mudryk 😂😂

This summer is massive. Regardless of if we do or dont win the prem, we have to build on this squad. We can not play Saliba, Gabriel, Odegaard, Saka, Rice and White pretty much every game of the season. If we are to really top and be better than City, we need more quality depth, but the depth players to still be of first team quality and to constantly push to start. Player like Nketiah, Nelson, Elneny, Ramsdale and co....if they arent good enough or happy with their situation at the club, need to be sold. As much as i love these players, they arent at the required level we need ruthlessness from Arteta.
Hopefully another 4/5 players will be enough to take this team to the very top and help us win trophies this team deserves!
It's hard to imagine us getting 4 or 5 players. We need a solution particularly for when Ødegaard gets injured / rested.
i think 3 players for us to win a major trophy next season. 2 more after that to win more than 1. What can I say, I'm an optimist.
3 top players wins the league next season imo (we have Timber to come back too) then add 1 or 2 every season to upgrade/replace others.
@vague57 I think it depends on how many players leave. We need direct replacements for Nketiah and Nelson for sure. This will provide options and better quality in the forward positions. We also need a top quality left side 8 or 6 (both if Partey goes). I reckon another CB, if Walters isnt given a chance and a backup GK as Ramsdale is probably going to leave.
I think either Vieira or ESR will be the backup for Odegaard, depending on which one is sold.

I don't hear any discussion about providing backup for Saka. I think buying an attacking left-back, like Ferdi Kadioglu or Miguel Gutiérrez Ortega, to provide backup for Martinelli would be more than sufficient on the left. However, someone like Michael Olise, preferably over Nico Williams, who can play on both the left and right side, would add extra quality to our squad. At just 22 years old, his overall ability in general attacking midfield play is high quality. Quite simply, he has the potential to be world-class. Who's with me?

Guys, do you get nervous with Raya in goal? If your answer is no, then he stays. He is a very good keeper. Against Bournmont, he prevented a certain goal from Gabrielle's mistake because of his advanced positioning. He's a hybrid defender-goalkeeper, a third centre half.
If you look at the BM game , the players now have a idea of where to play together. If Rice bombs forward white and tomi stay back. they know how to protect. if in full control of the ball they do get into the build up. and then let OD do the control

Trossard has great end product but is shocking at doing the winger role. He affects us as much negatively as he does positively. Trossard is also a starter, not a squad player atm
Yep, Raya can absolutely be our no.1, if and only if we keep the no.1 jersey away from him. Its cursed. I said it with Ramsdale too, but the club didn't listen :P and see what happened.

Agree with Bhavs re harvertz… even though I think both have been contributory +++ trossard received a lot of props but if it were a choice between Kai and Leo then I would keep Kai for where we are going
No idea what type of an Arsenal fan would go to Grand Canaria if there is a parade to come. I am waiting for this from 20+ years. I would miss my boy’s birthday let alone a trip to Grad Canaria. Not serious mate. Think twice before leaving. One day you may regret it.

I simply do not understand this obsession for a left forward. Why would you want another person above Trossard and Martinelli? We even have Jesus as a third choice, for crying out loud! We need another Trossard in the RIGHT forward area instead. So obvious; Saka needs a Trossard-like competition, if not backup, which isn’t available in the squad.

This summer will be very crucial , we need signings which can help us bridge the gap between 2nd and 1st and we cant fck it up . Declan Rice doesn't offer enough to the left winger to be the left 8. You need the Odegaard, Saka, White triangles from Martinelli/Trossard, Timber/Tomi, and the left 8.
Also Rodri scores his goals from bombing forward into an 8 from a 6 so the vision for Rice is probably the same.
Remember Odegaard two seasons ago...he's miles better now with coaching in that position...who knows how much better Rice can get in that position with coaching

I would suggest that George’s assumptions that we will play the same way next season which appears to be what u are basing your thinking is flawed .. we continue to evolve the way we play why would next season be any different

Talking about Trossard being number 2 in the team for the left-wing slot is indicative of old-style thinking. Trossard is a different type of player to Martinelli. He will play if that type of player is more effective against your opposition and fits with the strategy Arteta wants to employ against the opposition. That is what Arteta is building is a team with all the tools to win things. I am not sure why there is a discussion about getting a left-winger in the summer. We have Martinelli, Trossard, and Jesus can play there. We have a lot of options on the left. The right side is lacking, we have Saka. Others can play there but the quality drops off more than on the left side. We need a centre-back and right-winger that gives us a different option this summer for sure. Would like to see someone with a lot of pace on the right to give us something different against teams that employ a high line. Anyway, keep up the good work lads, love the analysis and content.
No hes not 😂😂. Martinelli would play every game if he was good enough. And with the options comment, saka is the best rw in world with elite availability. For the lw role, we don't have 1 player good enough. Numbers doesn't equal positive
@@123kaired simply not true. There are too many games in a season to play the same player every game. Players look exhausted when playing every 3 days. Arteta picks the team according to who we are playing. Why do you think jorginho starts some games, it's not rocket science. Martinelli is excellent but currently with our right wing bias is being hurt by the system. Where as Trossard is more suited to an isolated role. I will guarantee you Arteta will get some support for Saka.

3 and 4. Martinelli dreadful! He was awful against Liverpool getting that second goal. What are you going on about. He has helped this campaign. If he was not good enough how come Arteta either starts him or minimum brings him on as a sub. You are just wrong again.
5. Your analysis on Martinelli is so off. The point of being isolated which you clearly missed is he is not getting the ball early enough to hurt the opposition. We are not switching the ball to the left flank quick enough. By the time Martinelli is getting the ball, he usually has the RB and RW back. That is why Trossard is working well he is good with the ball in tight spaces. Martinelli has pace and is more suited to a quicker counter-attacking style. Look at the goals he scores.

You literally just said hes a counter attacking player and we don't play that way(partly our fault, mainly because the majority park the bus), so... you basically said he needs replacing 😂😂😂. Where was Martinilli against villa(another team that allow counters) Does klopp rotate salah dijk etc?, does pep rotate haaland rodri etc? You can't rotate your best players!. Neto would start for any other club. Tell me why he'd accept a backup role?

He's that special. The most complete CF itw - Kane is Superior but doesn't offer the threat of running in behind.
