  • Disclaimer: It would seem that some KTM GasGas Husqvarna 2 stroke bikes with the same engine bottom end may have a pressurised ignition case for some unknown reason and may push oil up the tube shown in this video so less oil is needed. Over filling may cause an oil dump on the breather exit point.
Either way a breather pipe is the way to go.
Carrying on with the pre season service work on the GPX TSE 300. In this video I replace the starter motor bendix bushes with Bronze bushes which are more hard wearing and I explain how I have kept the inner workings lubricated.

It is possibele to re & re the bedix and it bushing without removing the flywheel. But I like that you did remove the flywheel as there was a lot of grease around and behind it that you cleaned up and removed.

Hey Robbo...so funny that I did my bushings today..after we talked I Re-Ordered 2020 style bushings....I didn't have to remove the flywheel at all just a little wiggling around to line up bendix and starter gears...no problems...I did not opt for an oiling system as I don't go off road or in water....Great Video.😁👍

Yeah it’s just open on all the bikes makes sense to add a pipe even if you don’t put oil in. That way it would at least prevent moisture getting in. Let’s face it most people don’t even think about the starter till it goes bad and it’s too late then.

@@RobboRobinsonis it easy enough to do without removing the starter?

@@jonnoMotoIf referring to fitting the case breather elbow , yes it can be done. The elbow is a little long so needs shortening slightly but you need to release the starter motor securing bolts to allow it to be wiggled back as far as is can be moved back. The hole in the case was smaller than the breather pipe so i had to drill it to size 5mm if I remember. Just measure the breather first for the drill size. Once you have the hole drilled to size and starter motor moved back a little short the breather to suit being able to position it. I used bearing retainer loctite to hold it in the case. Taking the starter motor out is a real pain so try avoid that.

When you say loctite I feel like you mean something different than red/blue loctite. Do you have a link to what you mean?

Red loctite is ok. I've gone to using a smaller amount of oil just enough to to be flicked up when the starter spins. 3 in 1 oil is good.
