  • We’re giving the Duramax a break for this trip. Instead we upgraded the Cheap R with a hitch, air bags, trailer brake controller and body reinforcements.
This is all to prep to take a bunch of furniture to our Florida office and to go to the ‪@UroTuningOfficial‬ Open Haus January 20th.

Jesus is the reason I'm even here, I'm thankful for the opportunities He gives me to do things like this, meet people and hopefully be a reflection of Him.

At this point it’s not about his safety but the others on the road when he is going 75mph and that trailer breaks loose or even worse it happens on a grade. Because that car was not made for towing that much if someone dies he will go to prison. If you make mods and want it street legal you have to apply for inspection at the dmv.

Are those tires 10 ply? Where is the trailer livery? Why is Noah driving a Cube? Get a haircut! That is all. ❤

I want to install a hitch on my BMW E36 to pull up to 7k on one of my two trailers with that GVWR rating. Rather than using my van which gets only 10 mpg, it would allow a more affordable way on those 400-500 mile jaunts to pick up items such as a mower or other large item that I would usually have to get with my 10 mpg van. Besides it would make the trip more comfortable. The reinforcement concept that you used seems to be an ideal way to adapt a hitch to the E36 as the unibody construction is similar to your VW. I also have a CDL, but what worries me is being stopped by law enforcement and told I have to disconnect because my vehicle is not rated to pull such weight. Of course that would entail logistical issues as well as costs. You can’t claim ignorance when you possess a CDL. Years ago I pulled a Camaro race car on an open trailer with my ’68 327 Corvette from Montreal to Albany, NY. Plus it was snowing on the return trip. I managed to make it safely, but I learned what it was to be out of control several times. Young people do stupid things.

7k is a whole other level. That would be quite impressive and probably over double what we’re doing here.
Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be saving any fuel with how hard the little 2 liter will be working compared to the big torquey diesel in my truck.
I get your concerns but the golf is rated for a little over 3000 pounds of braked trailer weight and although this trailer seems huge for the car it only weighs about 1,500 pounds leaving us with another 1,500-ish for cargo in the trailer. This is why I chose to use this trailer, it appears more impressive than it actually is. It really does look goofy seeing such a high volume trailer behind a little golf.
With the brake controller, air bags, and reinforcements I think we’ll be just fine. I guess if we get pulled over it will make for a good conversation. I’m hoping to hit a scale while loaded on our way down.

If you have a class A cdl you should know that’s not legal and if something happens you will lose your license and maybe go to prison. That angle might have held however, you should have made a proper cage in the back and then tied it into to that. I just got done cutting up an mk4 and throwing it away and I can tell you that metal is extremely thin all the way thru. Supports just have more bends in it.

The towing capacity of the mk6 golf in Europe is 3000lbs. Unless the trailer is filled with something pretty heavy, then it won't weigh that much.
I guarantee the hitch setup that he made on this is beefier than any hitch made for the mk6. It's tied into the frame rails and has additional welded supports in multiple places.

@@warpedfusion yep, the trailer weighs around 1500 pounds, it’s all aluminum and really light for its size. I think we’ll be around or under 3k👌🏼
