This thing is cool but I really think the product design is what's being sold here. The base Analogue Pocket is more expensive than a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, and the metal one is more expensive than an Odin 2. I think it's really cool that they have physical adapters for cartridges, but this is WAY too limited in capabilities for me to want to consider it when cheaper options like the RP4P, RG556, and Odin can handle actual console emulation. The Analogue Pocket is cool but it's definitely aimed at a hyper specific niche audience that want something like this, can afford something like this, and don't mind that it's significantly more limited than other options.
I had an analogue pocket and an Odin 2, I bought the pocket first thinking it was cool but after buying the Odin I frantically refunded the pocket just because of the power and the design of the Odin being such nicer preference and being able to run windows on it is the cherry on top

It’s fine for the regular non-aluminum additions but just for aluminum not to mention to make it heavier $500 you’re crazy. now, if they made a different model similar to the GBA horizontal frame, where it feels better to play on, I would’ve considered it. I do mods on my switches aluminum joycons, and buttons feel amazing but not a $600 addition for aesthetics. they should just honestly sell it half the price as a DYI kit if anything and that’s reaching.

My hope was to collect a bunch of my favorite old game boy cartridges and then purchase the device when the time came. To my disappointment, the scarcity of these devices and absolute scam on pricing with shipping and handling turned me off to Analogue. So I'm content with my Gameboy Color and Anbernic devices now. My disdain for this company on grows as keep pushing out FOMO overpriced devices.

This is a stunner! I am perfectly fine with my standard black Analogue Pocket. I was fortunate to get a black one which was the one I wanted. Actually this release makes the clear Analogue Pocket display case make more sense. I have a clear case but it fails as an actually travel case to protect your system. Could Analogue have been thinking about the aluminum version since the start because they released the clear case right at launch.
I owned one of those sleek silver PS2 Slims, and it truly stood out as one of the most beautiful gadgets I’ve ever had. However, the micro scratches were maddening, and it deteriorated rapidly. Plus, being metal, it tended to heat up significantly compared to the original bulky plastic model. Overall, I now lean toward practicality over aesthetics and prefer plastic.
I have to admit. The Analogue Pocket is a very beautiful, sleek and futuristic looking GameBoy device. The Analogue Pocket is a top quality, premium handheld. Though, I think my Wood Grain Edition ANBERNIC RG351V looks sleek and beautiful as well. Moreover, not going to knock the ones who spent top dollars for the Analogue Pockets. If you can afford it and if it's your thing, I'd say go for it! Enjoy life to the fullest. *I would recommend the Analogue Pocket even though it's 500 bucks to the ones who admire it's overall concept, those who would cherish and take extra care of it and for those who want a top quality Game Boy Style premium handheld. Especially, if you work and have a job. You can maybe put in some overtime, pay for one using Klarna payments or use a zero interest credit card. If you do get one, make extra sure you get the color you want the first time!
Genuine question for you, why do you like the wood grain handheld? I see people buy them but they look..weird. Maybe it’s just me but they are hideous. The rg351v was a good choice though.

Then when it has that silver ANBERNIC logo at the base of the display and I'm using it as a portable video player. I would be playing classic TV shows on my Wood Grain 351V like Sanford & Son and it would look like a portable Woodgrain TV from the 1980's.

You probably could just purchase yourself a PowKiddy RGB20SX carrying case for your Analogue Pocket to keep it protected. I think both handhelds are close in size dimensions and design. To be honest, I wouldn't have an Analogue Pocket without having a carrying case for it because of how expensive the Analogue Pocket is.
I have a new 3DS XL case for my transparent blue AP that fits perfectly. I think I'd opt for a hard shell case and line it with felt for this quite expensive display piece. If I were dumb and rich enough to buy one, it'd never leave my house and I'd probably want to wear white gloves to play it. Hell, I don't take the one I have out of the house. lol

@jonathonearl482 I agree. Transparent plastics generally seem to be more fragile than others. There's a theory that the assemblers were over-torquing the back screws at the factory, so I loosened them. They were quite tight before. Luck's been with me so far as I haven't had any cracks.
Has the screen been improved since the initial black release? My white one has a touch of backlight bleed along the left side. If the uniformity and black levels were improved I’d be interested in an aluminum model. Agree with the others that this should have an OLED for this price.
Literally buy anything ambernic, unless you already have an existing gameboy library, you can just re-create your own library with pirating. The games are like decades old anyway.

I could get a steamdeck oled for that money. I don't like their forced limited edition business practices. You got so many people buying these things and then selling them for more on ebay. Cool screen with popping colors and nice premium aesthetics but other than that it's not worth the hundreds of dollars.
The thing is, it's not for everyone, the normal version of the analogue pocket is 220 +shipping (which is almost always out of stock) this really is like a accessory rather than a fpga console.
So many things you don't understand, first: if you're buying this, you're gonna play gameboy consoles probably, second: the display is exactly 10 times the resolution of a gameboy, third: fpga is not the same as running an emulator, emulation makes mistakes, 99% of the time it's definitely playable but it still makes small mistakes, 4: you can use it for other things like making music and games, 5: a z1 extreme seems overpriced to play a gameboy emulator, if you're just trying to play gba games buy a 50 dollar handheld and dump your games to it.
In my opinion I think we should cut Analogue some slack regarding their lack of supply of the Analogue Pocket. I believe they're putting the majority of their time and resources on the Analogue 3D, which is their take on a modern N64. And personally, I'm really excited for that, I think it's going to be huge.

I admit to being a bit of a snob about wanting beautifully crafted products. Analogue however should call themselves an interactive art dealer however if they’re not going to actually sell their products instead of doing whatever it is they are doing.
iirc the company keeps supply of their products deliberately low to enable resellers (scalpers) to jack up the price. It's a shame because everyone raves about it's quality
I love the look of the analogue pockets but never have been able to justify the price on any model so far. Creating artificial supply shortage is always a bad business practice. They could easily do pre-orders at an affordable price and release the devices in waves as they are produced. This would remove the supply issues by guaranteeing the funds up front and would do away with scalpers. I just cant support a business that purposely makes it hard for its customers to get ahold of their product.
I mean, say what you will but fpga chips aren't exactly in high supply for the demand, the screen is also probably pricey, then you got manufacturing, administration, audio, ports, packaging, storage, offices, water, electricity, development... it's still alot to make these things and while I'm sure analogue is over pricing them, I doubt it's as cheap as you think.
They should be sued by nintendo, ASP. Sick of these devices, that copy GB and sell it as something new, for 520$, they make profit out of people that dont know, and because of people like you that promote this kind of product.
Yet you support Nintendo who don't even support their own retro consoles properly these days? They put the extremely limited amount of retro games that they've put on switch behind a subscription service that isn't worth it and don't cater to the fans of the older Nintendo titles. At the end of the day if there's a market for it, companies are going to make a product to fill that. Analogue prices are ludicrous but there's plenty of other handheld emulators that cost 1/4 of what it would cost to buy only a legitimate copy of say Pokemon Emerald for the GBA nowadays which would set you back £150 GBP with no guarantee of it even being an original copy! If Nintendo re released older games/consoles and filled that market in themselves in the first place, maybe people wouldn't be resorting to handheld emulators and risking buying fake copies of retro games posed as legit.

It actually does for carts, but if memory serves correctly, the core controls the shaders for roms. It's been a while since I've messed with it.

iirc the company keeps supply of their products deliberately low to enable resellers (scalpers) to jack up the price. It's a shame because everyone raves about it's quality
I love the look of the analogue pockets but never have been able to justify the price on any model so far. Creating artificial supply shortage is always a bad business practice. They could easily do pre-orders at an affordable price and release the devices in waves as they are produced. This would remove the supply issues by guaranteeing the funds up front and would do away with scalpers. I just cant support a business that purposely makes it hard for its customers to get ahold of their product.
I mean, say what you will but fpga chips aren't exactly in high supply for the demand, the screen is also probably pricey, then you got manufacturing, administration, audio, ports, packaging, storage, offices, water, electricity, development... it's still alot to make these things and while I'm sure analogue is over pricing them, I doubt it's as cheap as you think.
I'm sorry but what you did was just stupid. I would buy a FP GBC instead of the overpriced Analog Pocket. It's way cheaper

They should be sued by nintendo, ASP. Sick of these devices, that copy GB and sell it as something new, for 520$, they make profit out of people that dont know, and because of people like you that promote this kind of product.
Yet you support Nintendo who don't even support their own retro consoles properly these days? They put the extremely limited amount of retro games that they've put on switch behind a subscription service that isn't worth it and don't cater to the fans of the older Nintendo titles.
At the end of the day if there's a market for it, companies are going to make a product to fill that. Analogue prices are ludicrous but there's plenty of other handheld emulators that cost 1/4 of what it would cost to buy only a legitimate copy of say Pokemon Emerald for the GBA nowadays which would set you back £150 GBP with no guarantee of it even being an original copy!
If Nintendo re released older games/consoles and filled that market in themselves in the first place, maybe people wouldn't be resorting to handheld emulators and risking buying fake copies of retro games posed as legit.
I hate that people still promote this device, it's still hard to get I hate the fomo this company created, it's scummy....
