Makin' Whoopee

Bass 'bone players can count on one hand the good charts available for their instrument. Well, here is one of the best, arranged by Dave Wolpe. A medium-swing feel, this showcase will bring the best out in your bass trombone player with no improvisation, just written melody. There is some (written-out) jazz for 2nd trumpet in harmony mute, and the lead trumpet has a unison line to written high E. A nice sax soli is the icing on this cake. An outstanding feature chart. Yeet! Bass Trombone Solo!!
i get to do this for my spring concert and i've never been more hyped! my old band teacher never let me solo because "bass trombone wasn't a good instrument for solos."
hope you get to do your solo one day homie
How did your solo go???
1:17 gives me goosebumps
Never thought a song could feature my instrument
Yep. There's not a whole lot out there for Bass Trombone. Check out Stella By Starlight, arranged by Johnny Richards (As played by the Stan Kenton Orchestra) and Wave, arranged by John LaBarbara (As played by The Buddy Rich Band)
attack of the killer tomatoes (gordon goodwin)
Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night of My Life, (idk who wrote it), and Torque by Alan Baylock also feature bass trombone and hit hard 🔥
You mean my instrument?
I’m gonna recommend this to my director
This is the first time I've ever seen tenor lead the sax section in a sax soli
Any idea why alto 1 doesn’t play at all in the soli?
This would be a good chart for the US Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors band to do.
sean casey ;)
@@HunterJeremiah2 bingus
Using this for practicing is great, I cant wait to play this for jazz band
I love this song too much
Awesome chart. George Roberts would would love it!
Rip alto 1
God this Freakin' awesome - plusd get to play a high E for a change!!!!
very nice
Mannnn i recomended this to my director and she looked up what it meant and immediately said no
Dang that sucks this is a good arrangement
Oh geez. I went to a private Catholic school and whenever they didn’t like the name of a song they’d just make up another name lol
SAME!!!
I’m playing this. Sadly, I’m Trombone 2, not Bass.
Yeah. The one time it sucks to play lead bone.
Tough
I play trombone, and oh my god I'm gonna beg my band director to let us atleast read this piece and let me play bass trombone on it (I'm the only trombone in our lower jazz btw)
Another bride, another June
Another sunny honeymoon
Another season, another reason
For makin' whoopee
A lot of shoes, a lot of rice
The groom is nervous, he answers twice
It's really killin' that he's so willin'
To make whoopee
Picture a little love nest
Down where the roses cling
Picture the same sweet love nest
And think what a year can bring
He's washin' dishes and baby clothes
He's so ambitious, he even sews
But don't forget folks, that's what you get folks
For makin' whoopee
Another bride, another June
Another sunny, a sunny honeymoon
Another reason is that season
For makin' whoopee
A mess of shoes, a gang of rice
The groom is nervous that he answers twice
It's really killin' this cat so willin'
To make whoopee
Now he's washin' dishes with those baby clothes
He's so ambitious, man, he even sews
But don't forget folks, that's what you get folks
For makin' whoopee
But don't forget folks, that's what you get folks
For makin' whoopee
I want to play this for school so bad
Maybe next year, that would be great. Both solos are great
I wish they would play the actual written trumpet solo on here
Does this remind any why of the Im on my way song from gumball specifically this part 1:17
It's better fast
Yes
Sounds like a fart
