In 2023, I finally earned my charter after four years of dedication. However, I'm extremely disappointed and angry with CFAI for the quality of content and readings provided by them. The lack of political neutrality and inaccuracies in the materials have shocked me. Margaret Franklin's leadership is questionable, and she risks diminishing the value of the charter many of us worked hard to achieve.

Errors everywhere in the curriculum--sometimes so blatant that even an unprepared candidate cannot miss them, authors not cited so we don't even know if the person writing this has any idea what they're talking about, no visibility into the contents of the exams and how they are graded to the point that there is a section in Ethics concerning how any discussion of past exam contents will get you kicked out. I would be very reluctant to hire a money manager that earned their charter in 2025 especially since the designation does not reflect the specialization path. I would be terrified to get someone that when down the Private Wealth pathway and find out that they actually bought into that content. Dr Meldrum - I used your course to pass Level I and Level II in 2021. I left the financial industry shortly after to pursue a unique opportunity and thus never sat or studied for Level III. For these reasons I haven't kept up much with the changes in the program or with any of the discourse surrounding the program. I'm considering re-arming to study for the exam and achieve the charter, as I would like to have an easier time being able to re-enter the industry if I want to return, and for the fact that I started this mission and left it unfinished while being so close to the end. I was wondering if you had any advice for someone who is coming back to Level III after not engaging with any CFA content since 2021. I was also wondering if your opinion on the value of getting the charter has changed at all over the past few years.

I watched this trying to defend CFAI and I could argue a case for the wealth inequality and some justification for the wealth management but I have no words for the sloppyness. This is borderline chatgpt level of content. I don't think a sociologist wrote that last reading since a real sociologist would have a much higher standard and would have some insightful critique somewhere there.
In my experience, this is pretty on-point for what to expect from a sociologist: a treatise on economic injustices without having ever cracked open an undergrad economics textbook.

I am deep into the Private Markets information, as someone who has worked in the field, and it is WAY better than Portfolio Management........ That's coming as a retaker who failed last Feb. I'm so HAPPY I don't have to study BS such as Annuities, Post-Gift Liquidation Tax, etc... none of that stuff is fun, and the Private Markets is just way, way better for me. Finally, I think their content is REALLY good, even through the CFAi, and it could help folks become more aware of what goes on day to day. Port Mgmt content is a joke for people who don't work in that field. It's dryer.

I’ve been waiting a year to choose the private market pathway in my second attempt. I know you mentioned in the video that there is no incremental value, just a repetition of level 1 and level 2 content. - My plan is to work in the private market in the future. - I've already studied level 3 once and only failed the exam due to scoring zero in Ethics. I don't want to go through all the same content again. What should I do, sir? Should I wait another 2-3 years for better quality reading materials or should I pursue the private market regardless or stick with traditional level 3 content
Yikes, Apart from the crazy socialist shit, at least get the facts right (messing up formulas, not correctly presenting the testable material, etc). People were saying the ESG course was a hinderance to CFAI's credibility and I thought that was overblown. But as someone that passed L3, this is significantly worse for CFAI's reputation.
