The Marc show has an intriguing eclectic exhibition of straight pop through to new wave and rock held together with Marc’s showmanship in fronting good musicians in his group. He did right in this series
Flashback to my mum watching this I'd watch with her( she was a bit obsessed) My dad had been a roadie for some big names and did a job for a T-Rex gig in my city. He told me a story of how his hair inspired Bolan after they had a conversation about it.
superb, i recall watching this as a lad back in 77, loved radio stars, very underrated punk outfit, also great to see rosetta stone with ex roller ian mitchell, another underrated band, marc was a great character, epitome of a pop star
I only saw the bassist Herbie Flowers at a low-key jazz concert in Brighton a few months ago. He was good. Will miss his playing and humour. RIP Herbie.
Hurriganes was the popular Finnish rock trio that were active in 1971-1984. The band's most famous song "Get On" was released in 1974 from the album "Roadrunner".
I thought the same and then noticed the guitar player on the left is Ian Mitchell who previously was in the bay city rollers ..record company probably trying to recreate the BCR image
Ian Mitchell had left this band when they were called Young City Stars the previous year, joined the Bay City Rollers for 7 months, then rejoined Rosetta Stone, by this time managed by Rollers manager and soon to be convicted drug dealer and sexual abuser Tam Paton.
So Marc died on 16th September 1977 and his funeral was on 21st September and this programme was broadcast on 21st September. Seems a bit heartless. I guess it was in the can, so what the hell, let's put it out anyway!
I just don't get Bolan. He looks great, but his songs are light weight glam pop. The fact that he's constantly spoken of in the same breath as Bowie is baffling. His lyrics are even worse than Gallagher's.
This is a children’s tv show and not his original band, the songs were meant to sound lightweight. Listen to his 1967 to 73 output and you’ll get a better understanding, type Buick mackane live in and tell me that’s lightweight.
Radio Stars included Marc’s old mates, ex-John's Children vocalist Andy Ellison and Ian MacLeod (guitar)

Radio stars being John's Children , Bolan made a few records with them , like Desdemona.....

He escaped from prison just to play this gig.
Using the same blue Fender bass as on the Sky version of Toccata and Fugue video.
Awesome ❤️

Thin Lizzy is the best VT
Marc genius ❤❤❤❤
All of Rosetta Stone looks like The Bay City Rollers
I was thinking the same thing
I thought the same and then noticed the guitar player on the left is Ian Mitchell who previously was in the bay city rollers ..record company probably trying to recreate the BCR image
Same. I had to rewind and double check, especially the guy on the left, he looked like that guy who joined the rollers a few years later
Looks like Ian Mitchell (Bay City Rollers) on left side guitar
Ian Mitchell (ex Bay City Rollers) playing guitar (Left side) for Rosetta Stone
So he was the guy who joined the. Later on?
Live fast, die young - is the best way to live - I've been saying this for 50 years
That was ace x
Some of the Rosetta Stone members joined the Bay City Rollers 😁
Hugh Laurie gets around doesn't he? I had no idea he played bass for Bolan as well as everything else! 😂
Hawkwind was the band I remember instantly
I could workout Mark's and the Rosseta Stone's singers religion in this one.
What was it
@@joseplaza9442 They weren't Jewish.
Obviously, both devoutly Cucurbit.
Marc seems to be more devout.
Is that Mick Talbot from the Dexy's midnight runners and the style council playing the Hammond organ alongside Marc?
Closing credits say Thin Lizzie. Ooops.
👍😃
That first song 🤣😂
Don't think rosetta stones singer was wearing undies
Got his little sausage swinging around 🤦♂️
The late herbie flowers on bass at the start.

A collection of bands who couldn’t accept their time was over! 😂

Miming was poor

Tree? What tree? Oh, that one.

You realise he was the creator of glam, right?
