I think personallyI think the wall decor made with the garden fence is so adorable. After everything was glued I would tape off the frame and I would paint the garden fencewith metallic paint, Stony look spray paint, anything to give it more textured look. It would be so cool
I totally agree with you about greens....just changed the tablecloth and decor in my dining room to ferns and moss colors .......you are right ....so calming!
Habitat for Humanity re-stores are not always a thrifty way to get your craft supplies! I bought 2 small narrow shutters ( no bigger than these) and paid $12 each.. and had to sand the old flaking paint off to paint them myself! I wish my brain was as creative as yours and I'd thought of this. That said I love shutters in decorating so I'll definitely be using this approach to making some of my own! Love love how yours look! When I'm crafting I usually have an audiobook playing in the background. I decided to learn to speak German last month after a friend gave me an audio class series. I also signed up for the Master Class series and have been listening to Neil DeGrasse's scientific thinking class series. Such an amazing series that's more about to how think in a larger picture perspective and recognizing when you enough to think you understand but actually don't.
That is so funny about your daughter putting that up her nose. My son did the same! I was like "don't breathe out or in your nose, use your mouth!" It was comical although I freaked out! Now after 30 years I look back & laugh! I love shutters. Thanks for teaching that!!
Love all your DIYs!! Tip for everyone: you can screw your miter box to a piece of wood to keep it from moving/sliding around. Or you can buy a rubber anti-slip mat (for underneath rugs) from Dollar Tree to put your miter box on to keep it from sliding. 😃
All of the projects are beautiful. I think I will make the jumbo spools for a friend of mine who does A LOT 😀 of crochet and knitting to wrap her yarns on for a lovely rustic look.
Heidi, I know this is an older video, but I just have to tell you, I've watched your channel for a long time an I just love the way you don't use it to be prissy, your all about the crafting. Thank you so much for being so enjoyable and real. Thank you. Sherry
I made your shelving unit when you put out the original video. I made them for on top of my craft table. I love them. Thanks for such a great useful craft. I tweaked it a little. I Made it into 2 separate pieces and put a wood back on them.
Ooooo! The spools would be great for binding you make up! Or just fabric strip! 💘 I can't wait to make! Thank you for that idea! I collect the spools myself!
An FYI for anyone that may not realize it... the miter saw box slides so easy because one edge of the bottom is raised so that you can hang it on the edge of your table. You hang that edge over the table, push it toward the table with one hand while you saw with the other. Your hand keeps it from slidding as you pull the saw back and the edge hanging over the table holds it in place as you move your saw forward. I hope that explanation made sense.
Hi my name is Evelyn, I’ve been enjoying your DIY’s for a little while now just about a few month. I think I came upon it about a year ago. I’ve been loving your creations from the first time I started watching and I’ve made attempts on my own DIY’s with what I have at home. I’m not as good as you ladies with your own channels but you’ve all inspired me to try something new all the time. Maybe someday I’ll post pictures of the ideas I got from the RUclips DIY families. Thank you for sharing and being great inspiration to me.
Ginny Le I can’t be sure of the price. It was bought several years ago and I had a lot left over. It seems to do the trick and I’ve done quite a few projects and still have a lot left over. I’m in Canada so I know some of our craft supplies are a lot more expensive. I’ve never even seen Modpodge at our dollar stores and it gets quite pricey here. It definitely would be something to consider if you do a lot of craft painting.
@@ginnyle I go to home Depot or Lowe's and I asked for their oops paint. people have paint made up and then not like the color and bring it back and you'd end up with a quart of paint for 2 bucks. Definitely more cost-effective than a dollar for Apple barrel paint in the little container. You can also buy whatever color you want in the quart-size and it's not much more and it's not much more
My husband and I have been home since March 14. We plan on staying home another month. So glad to have your and other RUclips channels to watch keep me grounded. The shutters are such a cute idea. Would love to have the supplies to make it now, but I have a huge supply wish list for when we can finally get to the store. (As for the garden pieces, I call them garden edging or just garden fences.)
FYI....if you thread the wire from the front of the basket through the board, then you can twist it in the back and cut off ends so they don’t poke anyone. You did a lovely job on the hand lettering on the Market board. I would use my Cricut or the large word stickers on a sheet from the Dollar Tree. Also I’ve seen another DIYer use a “miter scissors” cutting tongue depressors and wood beads in half. What a game changer! I’m going to look into getting one. It will come in handy for many projects. Thanks for the great ideas!
This is my first time seeing this DIY video, and I was amazed at how many of the projects I wanted to make!! And the majority of the items needed for the projects are from Dollar Tree and Walmart. I have to try and make some of them, they are all amazing!!
I really like the frame with the “garden fencing” as wall decor. It looks like it could have been an expensive piece. All your projects and the way you explain your process is beyond helpful. 😊👍🏻🌺
You have great vision Miss Heidi! A incredible talent! Thank you for all the projects, inspiration, and time and effort it takes for you to do all of it!!
I've seen similar projects like this. However, yours turned out the best so far. You do the little extras. More old school. Like filling in the seams. Drilling the holes. It adds to it. Suggestion-for the E600. Dollar Tree has toothpaste tube rollers. Use one on the E6000. It really helps get all the glue out. I buy alot of these tubes around the house.
If you put the rubber shelf liner that you can buy in the Dollar Tree under your miter box, it won’t wiggle around when you make your cuts! I use it all over my house and at work! I love it!
I just can't pick one favorite as they are all so amazing! The old wooden spools were very creative but I liked the little corner shelf too. Yep, I'm still not sure which ONE I would pick as a favorite. Thanks for all of these great projects.
Love all of these DIYs! Have you ever looked into getting lath boards from your local Home Depot or Lowe's? They are a much better value than painter sticks. They are 4 ft long and you get a bunch of 50 for around $12-$15 depending on where you live. I love them for quick easy frames.
Thanks for the tip! I love the large green double shelf/4-cube with chicken wire on the back, and was adding up the total cost in my head....the amount of paint stick slats really "make" the project ( and it really looks to be made of crates as well as adds to the sturdiness of the piece) , but there's a lot and I was thinking of what else might be even more cost effective. So many fun , useful and classy projects in this video; it's def a keeper in my fave file. Heidi, you always deliver such great ideas and videos, and have a talent for instructing too!
Hi Heidi, a brilliant piece, a little to advanced for me just now, but given time and gaining confidence, who knows.... I listen to audiobooks whenever I’m working or crafting. xxxx
I have also been sewing since I was a child, so I really love the spools. I am going to make a couple for myself and some to give as gifts! Thanks so much for putting all this together in one video! You rock!
When I get home from work I do dinner and then I go down in my craft Room. I check in see if you had a new video on if not I go to your Playlist & watch a Odis but goodies Videos. (I usually always catch you on replay) I'm crafting right now I am doing a conversation heart Garland.💙
You could put the ribbons, jute or whatever else you buy( for your decorations you make) on the big spools , I think it would look awesome in your craft room
I love this channel and it has inspired so many crafting ideas. But I think I’m watching this mega video (which are my favs) too late at night because my OCD is in high gear. I loved the garden trellis sign, but I couldn’t handle the arrows not lining up in center. Then the chalkboard sign, which I’ve already crafted, the word “Thursday” is misspelled. Keep on crafting, Heidi because I’m hooked
These are all adorable! Especially love the shutters. And I just call them garden fences that you made the wrought iron decor with. I have an idea you might like for your sewing/craft room. To hang spools of ribbon I hung curtain rod brackets and instead of the curtain rod used a dowel rod the right diameter to fit the ribbon spools on. Then for the ends I used real wooden spools I had saved/collected. Had to enlarge holes in the spools a little. Cute and convenient way to keep my ribbon handy.

The lattice with the Framework is beautiful!
The garden box is over the top. I absolutely love it.
I like how you secure and re enforce everything so it's not flimsy. I like how the plastic garden fence pieces look like wrought-iron in a frame.
