- Strap on those snow boots, wrap yourself in more layers than a lasagna and get ready for a crisp adventure on this 4-mile loop that’s just the right amount of "I think my nose might freeze off" challenging. Plan for around 1 h 45 min of snowy escapades-ideal for proving you’re tougher than a marshmallow in hot cocoa without turning into an icicle.
Starting at Del Webb Road, you’ll waltz along the ridge like a penguin on a mission before gently descending the Ravine Trail. It's your chance to pretend you’re exploring the less-traveled paths of a winter kingdom, complete with trees sporting their finest white coats. Then, muster your inner mountain goat to climb back via the Special K and 2000 Hours Trail. (Note: Sadly, no hot chocolate stations are en route).
Brought to you by the fine folks of the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition and the cool cats at Massanutten Resort, this trail is a snowy secret garden. You'll feast your frosty eyes on scenic snow-globesque views while navigating trails more clearly marked than Santa’s route on Christmas Eve. Be aware, though-the terrain might be rockier than your great aunt’s holiday fruitcake, with inclines steeper than last-minute gift shopping.
Don your brightest beanie to keep it visible and keep an eye out for the elusive winter mountain biker braving the cold. Stay sharp, follow the festive markers, and you're golden. This is your chance to fully embrace the chilly cheer and earn those cozy fireside bragging rights, all while possibly making friends with a snowman or two.
